Worst customer service and the absolute WORST manager ever! I was on my way to the lodge and a tree was down on the mountain. I called to explain the situation to customer service and then the manage... See more

Great place, but BEWARE of their strict full-deposit with 60-day cancellation policy!! We changed our reservation by a few weeks, but they treated that as a "cancellation" instead of a modification... See more

The room was ok. No TV in it was a surprise for us. Good breakfast and very good service in general.

Information provided by various external sources

We have 28 rooms. 12 Forest View Downstairs, 12 Forest View Balcony, 3 Garden View and 1 Superior Garden View. All rooms have free wireless internet. All rooms do not have air conditioning or television, so you can appreciate the sounds of the tropical cloud forest. The service style is personalized, informal, caring. Our food is what a Costa Rican grandmother would cook if she was also a creative and contemporary professional chef. The atmosphere in our lodge is quiet, laid back and tranquil with an open fireplace. Our bar serves up creative cocktails. Like the Jigüiro, with fresh guava juice, rum, triple sec and squeezed lemon. Suggested activities while you’re at the lodge, explore the gardens, with La Posa de Doña Yolanda solar-heated pool, the main fern and bromeliad garden. Among the suggested activities in the area are hiking or bird watching with a naturalist guide, horseback riding, and zip-lining or hiking through the canopy. We suggest you spend between 2-4 nights with us.

Great Staff and well kept

We very much enjoyed our time at Monteverde. Food was very good and not too costly. The grounds were well maintained and diverse. Staff was accommodating and intuitive. Only improvement I would recommend is a place to keep beverages cold during the stay.

such a cozy and beautiful place

such a cozy and beautiful place! my favorite part was watching the monkeys dancing in the trees in the morning while eating breakfast. The food was superb. The pool area and gardens were also magical. The front desk was super helpful with organizing tours. We loved the night walk tour and the bird watching tour was fantastic and were not even bird people, highly recommend! the town is also full of fun little places. highly highly recommend for your stay in monteverde,

It was fine.

It was pretty good, food was above average, rooms a little dark, nice setting, nice happy hour snacks.

A modern fern gully paradise

This hotel is a beautiful, refined lodge in a "fern gully" like paradise. You are emerged in nature, with a gorgeous pool, gardens, yoga look out spot, hiking trails, and Butterly garden, yet you have all the modern conveniences of a beautiful hotel including clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds, a wonderful bar and delicious breakfast. We loved listening to the river that ran right in front of our room every night, and thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the fireplace during happy hour and after dinner. We would highly recommend the Monteverde Lodge and Gardens to everyone, and can't wait to go back.

Both hotels were very nice

Both hotels were very nice, the service was good and rooms were very clean. The only thing I didn't like, was that in Monteverde there wasn't any smokers corner.

We loved staying at the property

We loved staying at the property. We loved the little touches like when returning to the room there was a just of iced water and fruit drink for our children and a nightcap for ourselves. The food was delicious. The staff were very helpful and informative. We would definitely return.

The Monteverde Lodge was in a beautiful setting surrounded by wildlife, yet an easy walk to town. The room was comfortable and quiet. The restaurant was excellent. The gardens and pool area were stunning. Most of all, the staff were friendly and helpful. We recommend the hotel highly.

Wonderful Escape!

Monteverde Lodge has everything we enjoy. The rooms are very clean and the bedding quite comfortable with abundant hot water (not always a given in CR). The mountain view from the balcony is gorgeous and relaxing. There is a butterfly garden inside with butterflies hatching daily making it fun to see all the different types. Outside we hiked on the property where there is a pool area, covered viewing spot and a hummingbird feeder garden...lots of hummingbirds! The Lodge has guides that give tours day and night in the surrounding forests. I finally saw three quetzal birds my last visit that I wouldn't have seen without the guide. The other amenities are so nice: boots for hiking in mud, rain jackets, umbrellas, bed turn down nightly, hot coffee/tea with yummy cakes served all day by check-in and our favorite is the open fireplace where we sat and cozily read while sipping a glass of wine. The in-house restaurant is so nice and diverse, we never ate dinner anywhere else. My 4th visit will be in the next couple of weeks and I can't wait!
