We have 28 rooms. 12 Forest View Downstairs, 12 Forest View Balcony, 3 Garden View and 1 Superior Garden View. All rooms have free wireless internet. All rooms do not have air conditioning or television, so you can appreciate the sounds of the tropical cloud forest. The service style is personalized, informal, caring. Our food is what a Costa Rican grandmother would cook if she was also a creative and contemporary professional chef. The atmosphere in our lodge is quiet, laid back and tranquil with an open fireplace. Our bar serves up creative cocktails. Like the Jigüiro, with fresh guava juice, rum, triple sec and squeezed lemon. Suggested activities while you’re at the lodge, explore the gardens, with La Posa de Doña Yolanda solar-heated pool, the main fern and bromeliad garden. Among the suggested activities in the area are hiking or bird watching with a naturalist guide, horseback riding, and zip-lining or hiking through the canopy. We suggest you spend between 2-4 nights with us.

My daughter and I spent a few days here back in 2016. We both really enjoyed our stay. It has a lovely atmosphere, comfortable rooms and beautiful pool and gardens including the butterfly garden. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely return.

Relaxed Stay
wonderful place and close to the natural parks in this area I can only recommend this lodge. A regular meeting point was the 'happy hour' at the bar, where you can meet people and excange your daily experiences - for free. Accomodation and garden was as you would expect of a lodge like this.

We appreciate your comment and we are deeply sorry that maintenance disrupted your vacation time.
You stayed with us in June 2016, when we were installing the lodge’s solar panels and unfortunately the labor crew was working in an area near your room. Our receptionist offered you to move to another room, so you could be away from the noise, however you decided to stay in room 104.
This is not an excuse, we know this job wasn’t supposed to interfere with your experience as our guest and we are truly sorry that it did, please accept our sincere apology.
On the other hand, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your room, our gardens and food.
We hope that you can come back some day and see the changes that we have done in the lodge for our guests’ benefit.

Beware the strict Cancellation Policy...
Great place, but BEWARE of their strict full-deposit with 60-day cancellation policy!!
We changed our reservation by a few weeks, but they treated that as a "cancellation" instead of a modification and refused to credit our deposit toward the new dates.
(Even after we stayed there and paid AGAIN for the new dates, it took several international phone calls and emails to get their erroneous "cancellation penalty" refunded.)

From first greeting to goodbye
From first greeting to goodbye, staff was gracious, informed & helpful. Facility is lovely, making excellent use of the location. Our room was delightful. We almost looked forward to a storm so we could relax on the balcony. Easy access to wide variety of experiences in the area. Staff helped make arrangements.
We highly recommend Monteverde Lodge.

It is a beautiful lodge. The rooms are comfortable. I liked the balcony right outside the rooms.
You can sit there and relax or watch birds. The grounds are fantastic to walk around on.
The staff is very nice and friendly. The food was excellent. Especially for me the pickets eater
In the world, plenty of selections. Vegan options available.
Easy walk to downtown. If you can handle hills.
They are able to arrange birding trips or other activities, for you to do. The pool area was really nice. Would stay there again, Relaxing.
If I was going back to Costa Rica.

We loved the comfortable rooms
We loved the comfortable rooms, lovely gardens and friendly efficient staff as well as the food and restaurant. The area is filled with wonderful wildlife experiences as well together with great birding. We would love to go back there for our 3rd visit sometime soon.
