Trying to navigate and link Centrelink for an aged pension application is an absolute nightmare. I lost count of the times it logged out and sick of going round in circles. Gave up. Phone queues are horrendous. The whole system is a complete waste of time.

Great staff

Yes, I had to hold for 70 minutes, I was having multiple problems with My Gov app. But, once I got through, staff could not have been more helpful. Sorted through my problems patiently and politely. I was very impressed.

Trying to log into myGov to request a…

Trying to log into myGov to request a replacement Medicare card after mine was stolen has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had.

First, I was asked to answer a security question I never even set — “What was your high school nickname?” I didn’t have one, so I was completely stuck. No workaround, no option to verify another way.

So I tried to troubleshoot by creating a new account, thinking that might fix things. Nope. Then it wouldn’t let me link Medicare using my birth certificate as ID — with zero explanation as to why. Just blocked.

I’ve now called Human Services twice and requested a callback both times. They said 20 minutes… that was over 3 hours ago. Still nothing.

Honestly, the whole system feels broken and impossible to navigate, especially when you actually need urgent help. Sorting out something as basic as replacing a stolen Medicare card shouldn’t be this hard.

Hamster wheel would be more useful

I feel like I'd get further running on a hamster wheel..
Wont let me update bank details online, tells me I have to do it in person or via phone. Over an hour wait time advised on phone (very telling when phone service is very strongly reminding you over and over not to verbally abuse their staff) hang up due to wait time, try to book appointment online for either phone appointment or visit to a service centre, won't direct me to where I can book appointment, just tells me that I can! Go back online again after a 5-minute break, all services are down. Climbing Everest would be quicker and easier..I JUST WANT TO CHANGE MY BANK DETAILS FOR MEDICARE GRRRR!!!!!!!!

Absolute trash website

Absolute trash website, you'd think given how much the gov spends on things, they'd invest in their own website.

Side note, entering your email on login doesn't actually work, you need to use your mygov username....

Locked out and sent SMS to my old number.

It locked me out when I tried to link Medicare to mygov using my passport credentials. It also sent an SMS code to my old phone number, despite my new number being updated on the app. Now I'm on the phone trying to get it sorted, ive been 15 minutes on hold. A perfect example of government incompetence.

The online service is abysmal

When I called the responder "Zachary" asked if I was fine. Given that I was tired from a flight, I responded I was fine. When he asked again and told him the truth and if we could continue and he told we to watch my tone. By with point I'd had it with the constant badgering for "respect" considering I hadn't said anything rude or misbehaved in a meaningful way.

Then I was on hold for half an hour and when the responder finally did reply, it wasn't Zachary but a woman I could barely understand, due to how softly she spoke. This meant I would have to spend time catching her up and on top of that she put me on hold AGAIN not five minutes after picking up

Has base functionality but is not up to scratch in 2026

Actually i use it often(we need too), it has all the base functionality built in. But there is still SO SO SO much more that can be done to it. This is Australia! We should have better than this.

Also there needs to built it functionality that helps when an Australian is not in Australia and need to access all these things, instead of calling and being stuck with roaming charges, more thought and functionality should be built in to handle those types of cases. If we are overseas and wasted all our roaming data trying to contact Australian government departments on the phone, this is 2026 and there should be more ease of use build in and access to real humans and without the need for telephone calls if the person is out of Australia for example.

There is nothing more annoying than having to spend hours on a call (sometimes on hold for an hour) to a Aus Govt department, when overseas and wasting all this roaming money.

There is no reason all this cant be built into this APP and website and save Australians some money in the process. Cost of living in Aus is already high, adding that kind of stuff to the APP and website would be a great idea.

This app and website drive me to tears

This app and website drive me to tears! I can’t get in, no matter how many times I reset my password (which can contain spaces but not underscores or periods- wth?), whether I use my email or username, and whether I get a code from my email address or a text message I cannot get in! For gods sake, all I want is to see if I’m due for a Covid booster- why is this so hard?

Ongoing issues and hate that I can’t…

Ongoing issues and hate that I can’t deal with ATO direct but have to go via this awful app.

So many issues including just truly stupid glitches, eg. Read all my emails and deleted but still appear on app as a notification

Also does not link properly with Revenue NSW and so cannot validate my identity with my drivers licence

The dual my gov and ID is truly evil

I would give it no stars

I would give it no stars! Get it sorted! Wanting to pay a tax bill but The myGov website and app are a nightmare. I've been stuck in endless loop of failed logins, resets, and error messages for hours. Why can't I just login you send me a sms code for me to enter and then I'm in like every other site that works perfectly. I've tried pass key and Digital Id and password - none work

The most frustrating website ever.

The most frustrating website ever.
I spent 2 hours trying to get into my gov, than another 2 trying to link my services together, and I got locked for an hour because it doesn't recognised those same numbers and details that it gave me in the first place!! So frustrating! I have been trying to link those services to get some money back from some appointment that I had and it is taking forever TO GET THROUGH! I can't believe that in 2025 a website can be so useless and frustrating.
