When Bluprint was Craftsy I loved it

When Bluprint was Craftsy I loved it. I bought classes that I could access at will and the video and audio were flawless. Now they hardly play, and some lessons don't play at all. I keep emailing them and I keep getting a canned response about how it is on my end. I have done everything in that email (except getting an internet speed that does not even exist here), and it just keeps getting worse.

It is obvious that their "high quality" videos (which they did not even make) have been radically reduced in quality. They have cheaped out to the point that they are denying access to classes that I legitimately bought. Their website is horribly designed to begin with, and now it is becoming unusable.

Don't bother with this company. They are trying to reduce costs to nothing and squeeze every penny they can out of anyone who signs up. They do not care about us or about what we experience. They are going to die a horrible death, which is really sad because Craftsy was the best site of its kind that I have ever seen. I wish I could download my paid-for classes so that I really could access them forever, like I am supposed to.

Bluprint doesn't want me as a customer?

I have been a member of the Craftsy site for over 4 years now and I loved every moment of it. Being able to log on and purchase my sewing classes and use it to improve my skills was just awesomeness. Now I don't know what the hell Bluprint is up to, this take over has just been a complete mess. I tried subscribing but my country JM is not present, I tried purchasing a forever class and it keeps giving me an error. It's like Bluprint no longer wants me as a customer. I am very disappointment, and their customer service doesn't work on weekends, so I was unable to get the assistance that I needed to get the class I needed. Bring back Craftsy!!

I joined Craftsy when I started…

I joined Craftsy when I started learning to quilt and loved it Bluprint
not so much. They have removed class reviews from European members of which I'm one. When I queried this I was told it was data protection but they were going to fix it and that the reviews would be available again . That was when 18 months ago still waiting for TPTB to get off of their BIG FAT BUTTS and get it done.
I don't like the way they differentiate between European and American members when it comes to so called special offers. Several times when I tried to buy items and use the codes they sent me I get an oops that code is invalid. Contacting them a waste of time. Take for example 40% off of your ENTIRE ORDER totally untrue despite Entire Order being emphasised on the website.
When they took over Craftsy
BLUPRINT SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED THE ADAGE IF IT AINT BROKE DON'T FIX IT. Thankfully I've found 3 excellent online stores where I can buy my fabric.

I just signed up today and already going to cancel. I should have read the review first. Horrible, horrible PR. No receipt for my subscription, no direction. I am going to attempt to get a refund. If I don't get it immediately, then I will pursue another action to get it. Don't expect to much out of this outfit, looks like it is not going to happen. Also, I cannot believe that this company does not have a phone # to call for help, does this tell you anything?

Bluprint doesn't even attempt to hide their corporate greed

Preface: Since Bluprint was formally Craftly, I believe it is fair to rate them based on changes to the platform.

Bluprint markets as a website for craft lovers, yet is not user friendly for those engaging with the company for patterns. One of the things that made Craftly a world class platform was their initiative to bring craft lovers together as a community. They did these things by allowing individuals upload patterns they have created and giving career craft instructors a chance to reach a wider audience.

Bluprint does not even attempt to hide their greed. The platform makes it clear, they care about your money, not your experience. It's 2019. They only provide their patterns. They have screwed over instructors in favor of instructors who have no business teaching crafts.

If a company wants to succeed in today's market, they can't deliver services they hope to bring in big bucks. They need to deliver products the customer want. The money will follow.

tl;dr: Bluprint cares more about their bottom line than being a player in the craft community. They have retained very little of what made Crafly great.

Too many features that don't work. Search function in Wishlist doesn't work. Comments with no connection to the class they were made in. The cumbersome connection between subscription classes and classes that have been purchased. It's a mess of a website and the developers don't seem to understand how people actually use the site. Instructors with little experience teaching classes, ie offerings from bloggers, NBC Today Show Hosts. It's a shame because when it was Craftsy, it was actually worth the money.

I used to love Craftsy and I'd visit it every day for the blog posts and the community environment. As soon as they sacked their blog writer, I knew it was all downhill, and now Bluprint sucks so badly that I have to abandon it completely. Their website has major functional bugs, I can't access my previously purchased patterns, search menus don't work, their shop doesn't work, and client service won't respond to questions sent to them. I hate how Craftsy was such a great service and NBC destroyed it completely. Way to cash out, founders. Now I'll have to rely on Ravelry, which is annoying for pushing their leftist political agenda, but is the next best thing around. RIP Craftsy. You were great while you lasted.

UPDATED 7-10-19…

UPDATE: Bluprint responded very quickly to my review and helped me resolve my issue! Customer service was great! Plus they are reaching out to my daughter. THANKS! I look forward to getting more into Bluprint.
PS. I did order a batik kit and it came in good time and looks good.

Original Post:
My main complaint atm for Bluprint is about the free forever classes you were to get when you sign up for a year.
They sent an email when I signed up about the free classes, which to my shame, I barely scanned.
You see, I was under the impression from their advertising, that you sign up for a year you get 12 free forever classes. Cool. I thought I had the year to pick them. I figured I could watch classes and see what was worth keeping.
Unfortunately, I scanned the email quickly.. mainly the heading. Yes, my fault. That means that I didn't see that they send you three codes every three months that EXPIRE. So, after three months, I was actually ready to get some classes and went looking for that email, thinking it was instructions but I was a couple of days late.. they were expired.
My daughter did the same thing as me.
I think that the fact that you have to use the codes every three months needs to be big and bold in the advertising.
Sheesh. I wont be resubscribing as I'm now embarrassed by my own stupidity, ticked off and feel cheated.

Bluprint appears to have appropriated my (already paid for) Craftsy classes

I was horrified, not having looked at Craftsy for a little while, to discover that it has disappeared and been replaced by the horrible 'Bluprint' (can't even spell). I had quite a few classes which I had paid for, and which I had been assured would always be there for me. When I try to access the 'Bluprint' site to see if I can recover the classes, my computer hangs up - this has happened several times. Another example of arrogant IT organisations riding rough-shod over the legitimate wishes of customers. BRING BACK CRAFTSY!

I agree with most of the other reviews. The new Craftsy-Bluprint-is horrible and incompatible with my computer as the screen and audio never are in sync. The takeover of Craftsy by NBCUniversal…

The takeover of Craftsy by NBCUniversal has been an object lesson in how not to take ownership of an existing successful business. They have alienated designers by unilaterally deciding to close down their pattern design store to new entries and drastically reducing the number of patterns in the store. I can understand that they wanted to get control of something that was getting out of hand, with possible copyright violations; however the store had been in existence for many years, could they not have maintained it until they had a replacement store ready and fully tested, with appropriate safeguards built in? It could have been a selling point to both designers and purchasers if they had put in place more robust checks around copyright and quality, we may have been prepared to pay more for such designs.
They have alienated their paying customers with unhelpful, unstable apps. The new Bluprint apps on both Android and IOS platforms have been flaky over the last few months. I have the latest operating systems and a very fast internet link, but these apps have frozen or acted up in many mysterious ways.
As a major purchaser of Craftsy classes (nearly 300) I also find it unnecessarily difficult to find my own forever classes. As far as I can tell I cannot search for a particular class or tutor as I can in the Craftsy app, I have to manually scroll through all my classes to find the one I want. If I forget to go to the own forever library option and just click on the continue to watch option I am asked to take out a subscription for a class I already own. I work in IT and see this as a fundamental flaw in the software coding. I am already logged in, it knows which classes I have purchased, it should be relatively simple to combine these two factors to allow me to watch my classes no matter where I find them on the site. Where was the user testing before going live? I project manage software rollouts as a living, if this had been my responsibility I would have expected to be sacked months ago.
NBCUniversal seem to have changed the editorial policy, concentrating on ‘celebrity’ content and reruns of tv shows, rather than employing recognised craft professionals. This content is not the solid ‘how to’ information that we were used to, treating Bluprint as just another TV channel rather than an online community. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I would like a way to differentiate between these types of material. It must be particularly hard for new users of the platform to find the really good classes. I would still recommend a Bluprint subscription to people who have never used the platform, but probably only for the year it may take to watch the older classes, not as an on going subscription service.
Even before it became Bluprint the length of time in each series of classes had greatly reduced. I didn’t mind that they cut out the often long winded introductions by each instructor. I do not need to see people stitch every single seam of a garment in real time, or stand around watching something boil on the hob, however the recent classes were very short, from half an hour down to 15 minutes. I understand attention spans have shortened, but that would argue for 20 short lessons to get the same information that were in 6 longer lessons, not reducing a whole course down to an hour and a half. These classes are certainly not worth the same amount of money as one off purchases. Initially I took out a subscription to Bluprint, but after 6 months of no new interesting classes I cancelled my subscription. Every six months or so I check back to see if any of the new content excites me enough to re subscribe, however nothing has caught my imagination yet. For the small amount of new content I want to watch, I have temporarily subscribed during ‘free’ offer periods, binge watched the relevant content and then unsubscribed as soon as the charges kicked in.
Bluprint could be good, however they have alienated so many people that it will take a lot of positive marketing and most importantly good new content, to recreate the positive comments and loyalty that Craftsy once enjoyed.

Hi Helen! Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Bluprint. As of January 2019, Craftsy became Bluprint! When you log into your account or go to the site, you will see that we have the same content. We have just given things a fresh coat of paint. Back in December, we made significant changes to the Pattern Marketplace. This included removing many patterns, including patterns from our top designers. We notified the designers of this change and kept a few of these patterns available on the site. We do understand that this was a favorite place for everyone, but we had to temporarily remove access to the marketplace to make changes. We look forward to inviting more designers and having more patterns available in the near future! To address your concerns with finding your own forever classes, it sounds like you may have a duplicate account with us. Please reach out to us through the link below and we'd be happy to get everything cleared up for you: http://bit.ly/2RrEHrw

Bluprint screws over designers

Bluprint is destroying the community Craftsy built and hurting contributors. On December 19, I received the following email:

“Good news: you’ve been identified as a top designer on Craftsy! We love your work and we are excited to continue to share it. We thank you. Please note, in some cases, we were not able to include all patterns from all stores that are remaining on our site, so after Friday, 12/28, you may see the selection of patterns on your store reduced. Also, pattern upload will be temporarily disabled on all stores until later in 2019, as we revamp our marketplace and make it a more inspirational destination. Apologies for any disruption this may cause.”

Within 8 days, with only this “warning,” they deleted all but one of my patterns and did not provide any backup of my files or provide a way to recover them. They claim that they’ll provide a way to upload patterns in the future, but that would require me to re-enter the information for the 67 patterns that they removed and re-upload the files, if they’ll even allow them back. Customer service said this when I asked about downloading a .zip or .csv that I could upload again in the future once they re-open the option to upload patterns to Craftsy:

“We don't have a way to change your store at this point. The patterns were not saved. Hopefully, you have those files on your computer.”

Bluprint has essentially shut down pattern designers’ businesses. In my case, they removed all my paid patterns, but kept my free pattern available. Bluprint is using designers’ free work on their website while denying us the ability to sell. They’ve kept the content that help their business while destroying ours.
If this is how they treat someone they consider a “top designer,” I can only imagine how little they think of any other contributor or customer.

I would encourage you to delete your Bluprint account and take your time, money, and loyalty elsewhere. This is an unethical move by a company that’s only here to get your money. I’m asking for your support in sending Bluprint a message.

Craftsy was a well-loved community that celebrated crafting and supported designers. Contrarily, Bluprint has destroyed the community and is trying to milk both its customers and its designers for all they’re worth. Please stand with me in showing them that our patterns, contributions, and creativity have value and that they cannot exploit designers like this.

For those of you who enjoy knitting and crocheting, Ravelry is a much better, independently-run site that values its members. The site is completely free and has hundreds of thousands of patterns from all over the world – a much larger database than Bluprint’s.

Pinterest is also another great source for craft ideas of all kinds and you can also try Etsy (but please know that Etsy charges sellers much higher fees. Some of us even charge more for a pattern on Etsy than we charge on Ravelry or charged on Craftsy, so check Ravelry first!).

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support. Happy crafting!

Hi Allison! Thank you so much for the feedback and posting this again! First, we regret that we made you feel this way. It's never our intention to make our community members not feel valued. To provide more insight, the Pattern Marketplace was a platform that people could access and share their patterns. We felt that this was a great way to create a community with other crafters, but we did not foresee people taking advantage of the platform. We have had issues with people taking credit for designs that they did not make, and much more. To help combat this, we closed the market place and kept a few patterns from our top designers. We are currently working on improving the marketplace so that people can continue to share their awesome work! We are fans of Ravelry and do suggest their patterns as well. We do look forward to opening up the pattern marketplace for all designers in the near future.

dreadful website

Haven’t been into Craftsy for a while but needed to look for some new patterns. I loved browsing Craftsy, their website was colourful with everyone’s wonderful designs. What on earth has happened. This Blueprint website is awful, it’s bland (and that putting it politely) when you use the search engine it never brings up anything you ask for and I am unable to open any of my patterns stored in my account. Please get rid of this awful site and bring back the original website. Not a happy customer.
