Can’t recommend this company enough, we have been really struggling with our 18 month old Labrador with her recall and lead walking. It’s still early days but we can already see a big change. Beth wa... See more

I had booked in our dog for the two…
I had booked in our dog for the two week stay in St Albans , having discussed several issues with Ame on the phone. Particularly on and off leash walking dropping items and staying for an extended sit, and better focus around other dogs and distractions. They are very nice on the phone and reassured that the issues I raised would be addressed.
I had considered using off leash k9 but the price was more than double so thought I’d give mdt a chance.
Arriving at the kennels and speaking to the trainer it was evident not many of the behaviours I identified on the phone can be addressed and we was given a washed down version of what we wanted done and promised over the phone. The trainer mainly focused on recall which my dog was already good at and dropping items, and the stay command. And some lead walking.
We received updates regularly in the form
Of pictures and videos.
When we picked up our dog the trainer tried to demonstrate some of what she learned, but to be honest it wasn’t a lot, our dog didn’t really demonstrate any of the behaviours other than stay. especially her lead walking if she isn’t rewarded with food while doing it the behaviour is non existent. Her drop is hit and miss but I will work on it (same as she was before), her stay command is the only thing she really learnt there.
I would say though just because of the number of dogs at the kennels and the constant barking, I feel like she is now desensitised to other dogs.
Overall mdt is a cheaper option but you get what you pay for, which is not much.
I thought she would be more along for a two week stay and I reckon if you spent the money on one to one sessions with a local trainer you would get better results.
Failing that I would prob use off leash k9 my friend used them and their dog is spot on with the commands, their course also comes with guaranteed commands and the dog stays with a trainer so they get more than the hour a day mdt can offer and therefore much better results and value for money when you consider what the dog will actually learn.
There was some value from using mdt but I don’t think it was worth it considering what was discussed on the phone and what the trainer provided were two different outcomes. For a course that cost over £1000 for a dog to come out not much different than going in it’s definitely not worth the fee. My dog literally just learnt how to stay and even then it’s only for a few seconds.
And there is no way of knowing what the trainer can do till after you paid the non refundable training fee and actually go and see the trainer.
I wouldn’t recommend this company for dog training.
Life changing!
From start to finish my experience with MDT has been amazing. When calling for advice and information for our naughty german shepherd Buddy, Ame was so helpful and listened to every issue I mentioned. She quickly got us booked into Broadmarsh Kennels in Stourbridge where we were met by our trainer, Holly. We were sent daily updates and videos, both of him in training along with videos of him having an amazing time! When picking him up, the change was remarkable. We watched Holly walk us through everything she had been practicing with him so that we knew how to implement it at home. It was a rocky start as we tried it ourselves, but that's to be expected. Within two days of collecting him, thanks to Holly, me and Buddy are completely in tune with each other and he walks amazingly on the lead and checks in on me if I have to slow down due to my back problem. Previously he pulled so much that I was not able to walk him, therefore we didn't have a strong bond. I cannot thank Holly enough, not just for teaching him commands, but helping me to have loads of fun teaching and playing with Buddy out in the open, meaning we have an amazing relationship again! (My neighbours even enjoy watching me train him!) Holly continues to check in and always replies with advice for any issues that pop up and we feel so reassured that we can always turn to them for help. So a huge thank you to Holly, Ame, and Broadmarsh kennels who also went above and beyond. I urge anyone to use MDT. Positive reinforcement only, and life changing!
Morgan at MDT Southampton ….
Morgan at MDT Washington very professional and friendly in her approach and her techniques in training actually work! My sprocker spaniel (mostly spaniel…) is highly energetic and we were having problems mainly with lead pulling and recall but also on spot and stay. In four days, using a uni Walker lead we took home a vastly improved walking on a lead dog and also her temperament was a little quieter. Techniques using a flute pole helped to watts her out physically and also improve her pretty work and her recall again, was vastly improved. It is our intention to return to Morgan and MDT in a couple of months for a short refresher and to concentrate more on the suit and stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending Morgan at MDT. It is not a 4 day cure but a great foundation to continue to work on to get a dog to where you want them to be. I found the fees to be very fair considering a 6 week training course could set you back the same and one to one training a lot more.
My only constructive comment is it would have been nice to be able to purchase a uni Walker lead from the kennels as pet shops do not seem to stock either the uni Leah or the flit poles and it takes 3-4 days to get them online, though I understand it would entail carrying stock which they may not be sell it all,
Many thanks to Morgan and her team. Next instalment to follow in a couple of months.
Caitlin
Caitlin, the trainer we had at the kennels, was absolutely amazing with my puppy Sunny. Sunny stayed there for 2 weeks and came back with many more manners than before: responds to commands, stopped jumping on us, zero biting, not pulling the lead while walking. Caitlin was sending us a lot of updates and pictures of Sunny, which my little daughter really appreciated. Highly recommend!
Help for an anxious rescue dog
Morgan is an excellent trainer and we can tell she adored our miniature dachshund, Trip. Trip is a rescue with a history of being abused so he is VERY reactive to strangers and always on alert. Morgan worked with him for 10 days to help him get used to strangers, strange dogs, ponies, and even a man on a unicycle while walking. Morgan sent lots of videos and messages while Trip was with her and He is completely different on walks now. A residential training program isn't a cure all, and Trip isn't over his fear completely, but he (and I) learned some great coping skills during his stay!
Morgan also was very helpful when Trip had a stitch on his ear open up while he was at the kennel. We were able to get Trip to his vets and back to the kennel with minimal interruptions to his training because of her.
Finally, the company itself was very helpful answering my questions and getting us scheduled before we booked in. It's a big investment so I was nervous it might end up being a waste, but the support before and after Trip's stay has alleviated those fears!
Trustable trainers
As a family we were really anxious about leaving our dog. Caitlin who was our trainer was absolutely fabulous. She’s like a detective and picked up exactly what we were doing wrong and why our dog wasn’t listening to us and she explained about the importance of boundaries. She emailed us an update everyday and sent us cute little video clips plus pictures of his training sessions. Since his return he’s been sleeping in his bed, no longer crying when I leave the room. We’re absolutely amazed at the difference. I loved the way Caitlin interacted with him. We could tell that during his period here he was absolutely adored by everyone at the kennel 🥰 I’ve already recommended people I’ve met at the pets stores plus friends and family to book the training here.
Training + Kennels
Caitlin was incredibly helpful from the moment we dropped our german shepherd off - sending us regular e-mail updates with videos and pictures and detailing the progress he made from start to finish, as well as answering any questions I had. Would recommend to everyone!
Excellent trainer, continuous support
After having a not so great experience back in the summer I reached out to the company with my concerns. I had been informed that the company was under new owners and they went above and beyond to rectify my issues.
I have a very reactive dog who spent 5 days having some reactivity training and he has come back completely changed. He is a lot more calmer and his reactivity has improved so much already.
He’s by no means completely trained but Holly, the trainer, has given me some good solid foundations to work on with him. I received a personalised plan after his training so that I always have something to refer back to and Holly will check in every few days to see how we are getting on. I know that if I have any issues or any questions that she is literally just a text away for help and advice.
Such an amazing team and I feel so much more confident now in continuing the training at home so that my dog can enjoy his walks without reacting.
Brilliant experience
The reception was amazing, my dog King took to the trainer (Morgan) straight away. I was updated daily with short films and progress. I now have a 35kg Bully (8mnths old) who, comes to command, walks lovwly on the lead, has much improved distraction and he has clearly been very well treated. I highly reccomend the course, the trainer and the Kennels. All round I am delighted.
My dogs trainer Southampton
My 9 month old GSD spent 5 days with Morgan for his over reacting to unknown dogs/people. He can be a little people reactive to strangers but took to her straight off without barking. I had videos demonstrating the learning while he was away and we did some demo walks when I picked him up, after he had calmed down from seeing me. Both me and my dog have some skills to build on and know it’s not a quick fix. Morgan was lovely with him and it was clear he was happy in her care.
Our 2 year old Gsd went to visit Morgan. Morgan and Hopper
Our 2 year old Gsd went to visit Morgan so she could treat and train his people/dog reactivity. We received plenty of video updates and saw the training taking place. From video 1 we could see that Hopper was very relaxed and attentive to Morgans training . Over the next few days Hopper only improved untill we picked him up. I highly recommend this establishment for your dogs if training is needed. Morgan is also a lovely girl who obviously cares about the dogs she's engaging with. 10 out of 10 thank you Morgan.
Not just a lesson for our Morris, but us too.
We sent our 6 month old Daschund on the 12 day reactivity residential stay to help with his reactivity to other dogs and sometimes people.
Prior to the stay Morris found walking near other dogs a very anxious experience and he would react by growling, barking and lunging at the dogs. Even if they did not react towards him. He also struggled with other general distractions on walks such as runners, cyclists and people on scooters.
Upon drop off I was anxious to leave Morris, especially as he reacted to Morgan the trainer as expected by growling, barking and refusing to go with her.
By the end of the day my anxiety was relieved as Morgan sent an update of Morris on a walk and even sat on her lap. It was clear from this alone how much effort she had put into settling him into his new surroundings.
Throughout his stay Morgan kept us updated on his progress and how he was finding things. She sent us videos and photos and more importantly always responded to my long queries when I suddenly had them. Her responses were always helpful and she also made sure to note bits down for handover. This really helped my anxiety whilst Morris was away.
Upon collecting him on day 12 it was not only obvious he had formed a lovely bond with Morgan but that his confidence had grown. Morgan did an excellent handover with us included demonstrating how to walk him alongside other dogs (using the kennel staff and dogs some who Morris has not met before). This was helpful not just to see the progress Morris had made, but also gave us a practical session to practice what we had learned.
After this she also spent time showing us his recall and going over any questions we had, assuring us she was available by email if anything came up when we left.
Having been home a few days I can safely say the work Morgan has done with our small boy has been priceless. I walked passed a lady with 3 pugs on a tight pavement and with the ques Morgan taught us Morris was happy to walk past with no issues at all.
I could not recommend Morgan enough for the work she has done which has not only helped Morris, but also my own anxiety around how to handle certain situations when out.
Morgan we all thank you and love you!!!
Morgan the lovely trainer was excellent when we dropped my two ShihTzu/Jack Russells off 12 days ago. She listened to the “faults” that needed rectifying etc, and she paid attention and not once did I think “oh she has heard all this before!” I had regular emails and videos showing them walking on leads (excessive pulling was a problem especially with walking two dogs) and walking by other dogs (they had a real problem with other dogs when on a lead).
When we returned today again in the rain (!) Morgan was very happy to go through all that she had been doing, and what words I should use when necessary. She then brought one out and I walked him and changed direction etc. then the other dog came out and repeated with him and then both. Absolutely brilliant. Morgan also explained about the leads she had been using and said I could get them on Ama**n for about £5 so that was very useful.
Can’t wait to take them for walks that we all enjoy from now on. But if I have a problem I can always email Morgan. Thanks to her I can enjoy my two dogs rather than not looking forward when they had their walks (or I should say “pulls”!!!)
Thanks you Morgan.
Chris, Dax and Dylan.
My GSD went to Southampton to be helped…
My GSD went to Southampton to be helped with loose lead walking and dog reactivity. Morgan was fantastic with him. I got daily updates and videos to show how well he was improving. The handover was great, after the initial excitement of seeing us after 10 days we went for a walk and he did so well. We are so pleased with with the result, there is still work to fo on our part to carry on the training. I would highly recommend Morgan, she is fantastic.
Managing reactivity issues
Our dog Kane is a romanian rescue with a bit of a reactivity issue, something we have been struggling with for a while. We would find it difficult to know what the best way is to help him deal with coming into contact with other dogs. Abbie has been a great help so far, initially giving tips over WhatsApp by taking him back to his basics and always checking in to see how Kane was progressing. We also recently had our first 1-2-1 session with her and it was such a relief to see there are easy ways to help Kane. Abbie was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional with a calming, reassuring manner. It was so beneficial to us being able to see how and when to approach certain reactions by watching Abbie work with Kane and has taken a massive weight off our shoulders as she has shown us simple steps we can do to get Kane to where he needs to be so we can all enjoy our walks together.
I’ve had reactivity issues with my dog…
I’ve had reactivity issues with my dog Walter for some time now and it was getting to the point where walks were miserable. Walter went to the Birmingham kennels for 12 days, and was trained by Abbie who did an amazing job with him (and more importantly, us!) wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone needing a helping hand with their dog!
My 2 dogs went to stay here and be…
My 2 dogs went to stay here and be trained. They were only here for 5 days. However, in that time the trainer built a lovely relationship with them and this has resulted in a real positive change in their behaviour. I would thoroughly recommend!
Help at crisis point
Polly Anna has helped us very conscientiously with Amos whose problems with ragging on the lead, jumping up and guarding behaviours were very challenging - we were in despair, on the verge of rehoming him. And while it would be misleading to suggest that any magic wands have been waved, the support and encouragement have been invaluable and he is overall easier to manage than before he went to my dogs trainer. We hope that over time and with more hard work from us we will turn the corner). Polly Anna is a lovely, caring, tactful and confident trainer whose love of the dogs she helps could not be clearer. Thankyou Polly Anna.
What a great job I felt a bit dubious as on arrival it…
I felt a bit dubious as on arrival it seemed a little 'cold', we had to re book because we had messed up with the kennel cough rule. However the office bent over backwards to accommodate our dog as we were struggling to fit other dates in. On arrival the second time, there was still something that felt 'cold'. Thankfully Pollyanna then came to speak with us and made me feel more relaxed about leaving my dog and was very reassuring. Pollyanna has kept me up to date with messages and videos every other day, has answered my questions and more than anything has really done wonders with my pup. I am so grateful to her as I had struggled for so long and no amount of help from other areas has helped. So THANK YOU Pollyanna you are an absolute 🌟 Indy and I appreciate your hard work. Much love Indy and Wendy x
