Betrayed by this company
I used to love this business, and I would overlook major red flags. But too many times my orders took months to finally ship. Then out of nowhere they started demanding that I pay a $10 restocking fee for my returns when their terms of service do not list a restocking fee anywhere. I had to file a formal dispute against them for items that were never received. I feel deeply betrayed by a business I used to fully believe in. Now I am totally disgusted by them.
A Company Who Doesn't Care Anymore
This used to be a reputable company, but the candles were always very expensive and had almost no "throw" to fill a large room. About a year ago, things changed. My orders were always backlogged, shipped weeks later than the order date, and yet I was still receiving daily emails begging me to place another order. Finally, I used a discount coupon to make an large order and it Was Never Delivered. After three weeks, they made out a postal label, but then three more weeks went by without the package making it to the post office. I filed a complain with my credit card company and Mythologie had to refund the entire amount. The cutesy "stories" and descriptions -- "smells like magic" -- were bad enough, but they've clearly gone past their ability to run a legitimate business at this point. There are many candle companies out there that are much less expensive and deliver quickly. Try one of them instead.

Although I do like the stories that are attached to each candle, but they are way overpriced. Shipping is terrible and customer service is poor . There are way better alternatives out there. You can try hazel candle company. They are reasonably priced and very good all natural candles.
Overpriced Sell-outs!
Mythologie Candles has totally sold out! This is no longer a small "family-owned company who pours their candles by hand", that is a total crock! Everything is AI automated and there is no human voice there to even reply to your order query. I ordered a basic staple candle that they sell year-round. It's now been 3 weeks and there is still not even a tracking number. I've emailed twice and the replies are all cut and paste bog standard replies with no human voice. I'm going back to buying from Perch and Cove Candles as their candles are luxurious without the high price tag and I know they are 100% poured by hand by the proprietiers as I even met them in person at a Renaissance Faire.
HORRIBLE Customer Service
If I could leave a -gazillion I would. Ordered candles March 30 2026. Today is June 27. No candles. They have given excuses, lied, and shined me on for 3 months. 113 usd. I am in dispute with my cc company. Hopefully will resolve soon. Telling everyone I know to stay away. They used to be a good company. Don't know what happened to them. They are embarrassing. Don't buy into their hype.
It took 41 days to receive my order
It took 41 days to receive my order. I asked them to initiate a missing item report with the USPS and instead they said they’d ship another one. I don’t need another one, but still nine days after they issued a new order number for the replacement, their website says they’re ’preparing the order.’ I don’t believe them and I’m sure they were waiting for the original to arrive. Which it did. After 41 days. It worked out in the end, but that’s unacceptable and I’ll never order again.
Sold the soul of their brand to AI
Use to love this brand so much for their branding, theming, and wide variety of interesting candle scents. But now they’ve completely cheapened themselves by going hard with the AI usages and it’s just so ugly and disappointing. Makes them look so cheap and their instagram just visually looks like a scam account now. So sad!
Used to love this company
Used to love this company, but they went all in on using ai art which exploits the labor of real artists. I mean this in the most dishonorable way possible: mythologie has sold out.
Not very good
Took a long time to get the order. Over a month.
"Gothic Cathedral" candle was advertised to have the notes of "patchouli, incense smoke billowing from an ornate thurible, fire-blazed sugar, and earthy vetiver." Smelled like disinfectant. Awful.
Shipping and customer service is a joke
Ii ordered some candles as a gift. Two weeks, no candles despite website saying shipping in 3-5 days. No response from customer service. Very disappointed for such a high priced candles. Wish I'd read reviews before hand. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
Also, no order number given to track it with.
Awful experience
Awful experience! Back and forth with customer service since I put in a big candle order well before Christmas. Paid for expedited shipping. Still hasn't shipped. Told me there was a delay in processing but on their website it says there are currently no delays? They say they update the shipping info section frequently which cant be true since it says there are no delays and shipping should take 5 days to go out. They also told me my order would arrive before Christmas but then I check their website again & it says they're on break from the 21st until after Christmas. So had to put in a charge dispute since they won't cancel my order but won't shit my order either. DO NOT BUY
Shipping is to expensive
Shipping is to expensive. The candles are overpriced and they over market to the point of bombarding you. The candles can be quite nice but I've stopped ordering because of the shipping and marketing.
Decent candles, QA is heavily lacking
Candle packaging and candles themselves were fine yet expensive. QA is nonexistent though, I received 3 candles and 2 of which had no wooden lid. Emailed Customer Service who did promptly email me back and say they'd send me 2 more wooden lids free of charge but only 1 wooden lid arrived a week later. Overall a pretty mild experience especially for how much you pay for their candles.
expensive... but nice smell?
I bought the Merlin's tower and the Clothespins and quilts candle and while they smell nice, you can only REALLY smell the deluxe option (I burned the regular option for hours and i didn't get that much out of it). I wouldn't mind this too much (as on cold sniff it smelt nice), but they're expensive and a bit of a rip off for the price to be honest.
One step above false advertising
Just got my long awaited (their shipping takes awhile) first order of candles. I was looking forward to the included "free mystery gift". It turned out to be a ...sticker. A sticker advertising their candles. Being as I'm not 7 years old, this was quite a let down. That alone has turned me off to this company. Being as I thought there had to be some mistake, I emailed them and got back a flippant "yep, your free gift is a sticker, have a wonderful day!"
Shady
Price hike, FOMO tactics, non stop predatory emails and FB messages. Scarcity tactics to make you believe you have something special. Candles can take months to arrive.
Candles don't smell great when lit. I had one candle burst into flames in the entire glass jar and had to hurriedly take it to my sink.
(On the personal side) The owner spews patriarchy nonsense and believes women don't belong in the workplace (While owning her own business?) And believes women are weak.
On her business account she constantly speaks like she's a plucky one woman show and constantly talks about the "woes of being a small business owner." While charging $30 for one candle and charging people for special Guild Membership fees.
She also steals ideas from customers for candle names and scents, never gives credit and is all around massively shady.
Bait and Switch, expect to wait a long time
Similar reviews as others. Made a large purchase, nothing on the website or description said it was pre-order. Almost a month later I still don't have any candles. I've exchanged multiple emails with customer service (at least they have responded), and finally they admitted that due to supply chain issues, the candles weren't made yet. Magically, the day I ask for a refund, they say the order has already left the warehouse. However, no tracking number, and the order on their website still says Unfulfilled.
I’ve been a customer since early 2020…
I’ve been a customer since early 2020 and have amassed a pretty big collection. I also had a paid “Guild” membership. I had always been turned off by the marketing style but was seduced by the themes of the candles enough not to let it put me off too much. As the marketing has gotten more aggressive and heavily relying on FOMO tactics, it’s been a bit harder to overlook. My last bit of annoyance was that I couldn’t use a gift card for a purchase in their Guild store. It took over a week for customer service to reply to my question about that and in that time, I missed out on some candles I wanted. Instead, I decided to get two candles I had gotten before and they took over a month to ship to me. They weren’t even pre-order. I would feel better supporting an independent artist in the future.
Might want to consider another candle company
This used to be a great candle experience but my last order cost $377 dollars and still had not arrived. It’s been over a month - no tracking number yet. They still show as not shipped. When I contacted customer service to cancel the order ( as these were for Halloween and Fall) I was told they could not cancel and refund the money. I guess I will wait and see. UPDATE: a few days after this review I received notice that the order had been shipped along with the tracking number. The main issue is that these candles were for Halloween and Fall.
Overrated and massively overpriced
Overrated and massively overpriced. Bought 4 candles. Took a month and half to arrive. The scent of each makes my throat hurt. I find all of them unpleasant - Fae of the Forest, The Selkie, Bearded Tree and Lady of the Lake. The descriptions on the website sound wonderful! Each scent was a huge disappointment. I will be giving them all to charity. I'm continuing to receive aggressive FOMO marketing emails too. Emails everyday. I've unsubscribed. Please stop. I just can't understand the hype around these candles? Did I just accidentally choose their worst smelling ones? Confused and disappointed. :(
