Poor client service
I found them particularly unhelpful. My son bought the wrong rail card on their platform. Yes - he made a mistake - but he is only 16. They were very unhelpful and would not consider changing it for him. They have no formal complaints policy and I generally found them unprofessional. They "rejected" my complaint before even giving me the chance to make it.
Thanks I did contact my local client service team and as I said above they were particularly unhelpful. I certainly don't want to do it again(!)

Money Saver!
Great app. The prices for trains are definitely better than other transport apps. I saved over £45 going to London recently. No issues at all. I’d highly recommend. I’ve only used this for standard class not first.

Seat allocation is a joke
Booked 2 return tickets to London, asked for forward facing and assumed we would be seated together. Ended up with 2 pairs of tickets but not seated together and only 1 forward facing. Clearly using trainpal for routes with reserved seating is a waste of time.

Used cashback site - charged £5 more
I checked the price of a train. Just under £48. Jumped in car, and once I was at train station, went to book. Now just under £53. I assumed because it was nearly time to leave, and paid.
Then thought I'd check again,without going through topcashback. Still £48. So I had gained about £1 cashback, but paid £5 more. This is against topcashback's policy. I wonder how many times I've been overcharged.

Avoid! No customer service skills, even for diamond members!
Avoid! When you have an issue, they have no intention to help resolve. Requested a refunded because of tube strikes. Initially they rejected the refund as the train was still running, fine. Submitted another request and to take the hit via admin fee to say my plans had changed (as I couldn't get to my end destination without the tube) and the company took 1 week to respond, again rejecting it because they thought it was a strike request. Been fighting for over 2 weeks to get my refund, no such like. Absolutely 0 customer service skills. Today I've been told "if you can give us a screenshot of when you submitted the refund to show it was correct we'll refund you". Impossible request which they know isn't possible to save their own skin. Spend about £300 a month with them for 18 months but no more... Am supposedly a diamond member with them given how much I spend (whatever that means). Well done on losing a loyal customer, hope it was worth it!

Edit after further contact wirh trainpal
Trainpal have now banned me from their platform as I cannot proceed with payment on any tickets. When questioning them the exact response was:
"We understand your concerns. However, we are unable to disclose the specific activities or internal assessment details related to this matter, as this involves personal account information and internal review criteria"
And to my follow up where I said it's my own data how can I not have access:
"Even with full authorization on your personal account, our higher team is unable to formally provide the information you are requesting. We adhere to strict privacy and data protection policies that prevent us from sharing certain types of information"
So scammed off a refund of £60+ because of their error and now banned from making any further purchases. AVOID!
