As an employer

As an employer, I have experienced poor communication and I am still trying to close our employees accounts as we switched to a new provider. It has been 2 YEARS! They still are unable to transfer and close our accounts. When we stated we wanted to close the account, our account rep should have been working with us to complete it. Instead I have to call them every day to get answers. When I ask if they need anything else from my company to complete it they say no, however, they required more signatures! During this time both the company and employees have been charged fees. TOTAL UNACCEPTABLE.

Unethical fees

Ubiquity charged our lower wage employees, who had scratched together a modest retirement account savings, ~10% of their IRA simply to access their funds after a plan termination. After asking them to re-consider this practice, they vehemently refused. They're clearly part of the problem in the horrible IRA administration business.

Hi Alex,

While we do charge flat fees for our services, we strive to keep our fees low and as transparent as possible. We work hard to champion the futures of small business employees which is why we always provide employers the opportunity to cover any distribution fees for both active and terminated plans.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us—we appreciate your input as we constantly try to improve the saver experience. Feel free to reach out if we can assist further.

Week Plan offerings

Had my 401k with them but the plan offerings are very week, and basically even choosing their aggressive plans, in a bull market for the past 3 years I made no money on top of it. besides that to roll over out they charge fees. Hope not to work with a company thats offers Ubiquity services.

We're sorry to hear you've had a disappointing savings experience. Ubiquity is proud to offer a diverse range of investment options within our 401k plans. However, the specific options in your plan are determined by your employer.

Don't even bother with Ubiquity, borderline scam.

Total scam, billing my company $115 monthly AFTER I closed my account (paid $1000 fee to close my account btw). This is all because some ex employee from 3 years ago, still has $40 balance on his 401k, so my fund is still "active". As the fund sponsor, I'm somehow financially responsible for people that I no longer employ. They also charge each employee $5 a month, this is all on top of whatever Morningstar charges. Also, when you withdraw your money, they like to only send you part of it, so they can charge you the $95 withdraw fee more than once. The positive reviews on here are so obviously fake. I originally signed up with Intuit 401k, and these guys took over the account, really my only bad experience with any vendor since I've been in business.

Unspeakably high fees for nothing

Unspeakably high fees for nothing. I had a 401k with Ubiquity Retirement through a former employer, and was charged $5/month to keep the account with them (during which time the investment did not grow at all). Ubiquity charged a ridiculously high $95 for me to rollover my 401k to another investment service provider. I couldn't believe how much they were charging for me to move over my own money. Horrible.

We understand your frustration with paying fees – nobody likes to pay someone else to handle their money. Our investment practices are standard in the 401(k) industry and our diverse fund selection means you have a wide range of options in how you choose to invest. DO NOT USE - Fees are Insane

I am extremely disappointed in the amount of fees this company charges. To invest about $100 / month in my company's 401k plan they charged me a flat $5 per month fee, every month. Then when I left the company and wanted to roll over the funds, they charged me a $95 fee, to roll over about $800 of investment. Totally insane, these people are greedy beyond belief. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

The worst choice of 401K manager

The worst choice of 401K manager if your employer signed up with them - lots of hidden fees, have to keep 100% invested (no cash or safe investments options if the market is going down) and rollover to IRA is a painful process where you will lose even more money.

Plainly ridiculous fees

Plainly ridiculous fees. These are not presented upfront or explained. You just see randomly named fees appearing in the reports, silently going by every month unless you bother to look and find them there. Then when you've had enough, they charge $100 distribution fee to get your money out and put it somewhere else. Just plain icky.

Talked with Samantha Merrell

Talked with Samantha Merrell - I had some questions on the logistics of how a 401k rollout would work, and she was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and patient.

A superlative experience working with her and can't say enough good things.
