Many customers experienced significant and frequent price increases, often without clear communication, making their storage much more expensive than initially advertised or expected. People frequently found customer service unhelpful, difficult to reach, and unresponsive to their concerns, leading to considerable frustration. Additionally, issues with payment processing, unexpected fees, and incorrect billing were also common complaints among consumers. However, some people were satisfied with the staff, praising their helpfulness, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond to assist them. BEWARE, DODGY COMPANY

Do not use this storage company in New Zealand. It is Australian owned and a complete rip off. Add alot of hidden costs and the small print has a lot of hidden gems to boot. Find a local storage facility, Australian owned are underhanded and that goes for all the sneaky co.nz websites that are actually owned by Aus companies, don't support them, support local. Always look at 'about' company or deliveries for these dodgy rip off Auzzies.

Using these guys as parcel collection - WOEFUL

Using these guys as parcel collection points is WOEFUL. Staff are often out, unresponsive, and leaving you utterly confused as to how does a business run in this manner. I still can't access my parcel and no idea when I'll be able to. Contact centre could improve its customer satisfaction by closing down.

Not safe. Not secure. Don't care.

I went to my storage unit today to get some things out and there was a new lock on the door. Yes, it’s fully paid up. We managed to take a photo over the top and everything inside has been trashed. The managers wouldn’t take our calls and refused to come to help us gain access because it’s their day off! The sign on the wall out front says “RESIDENT MANAGER”. We have called the police but they can’t do anything until we establish what has been taken and it becomes a theft issue. The management of this business has shown zero concern for the fact that there is someone accessing the facility and people’s individual units with impunity. Limited cameras (if they even work). Almost everything I own was in that unit. Almost new expensive furniture, and appliances. All my fragile things I’ve gathered over a lifetime. I can’t even get in there to see what’s left. They don’t care.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

These shifty clowns always increase the price after a few months of you moving in. So be prepared for them to reach into your pockets as soon as you’ve moved all your stuff in. Avoid at all costs if you don’t want to become a mug!

National Organised Crime!

National Organised Crime!
Storing all my clothes, golf clubs, books and valuables with them over the Australian Winter as I was travelling to the UK, I was informed that [National Crime} network had blind-sold all of my belongings for $3K as they wouldn't call my UK number and their were emailing an old account that I had already changed with them. Somebody made over $7K from that sale. Utter criminals and I will be instructing a lawyer when I return to Australia for Christmas. DO NOT USE THESE CRIMINALS!

10 year customer ripped off.

10 year customer ripped off.
Continual massive price increases way over inflation.

Recently attempted to update card details on-line for autopay - many attempts with no luck - so I decided to just use BPay (this is their alternative payment method on the monthly invoice). I was informed by the very un-helpful staff member that a fee will be incurred for not using autopay and when I questioned her about it she continually talked over the top of me and would not discuss at all.

I registered a complaint on their website and selected the speak to a person option which resulted in a call centre staff member copying and pasting a scripted reply. I never received a phone call... 5 days later I get a $100 per month price increase! Based on other reviews I've read, it would appear this is common practice with customers.

Never ever will I use this company again.

Sub-standard maintenance

Hi this is not about the over charging of the storage unit. The problem is simple maintenance at the airport Perth storage unit. The only public toilet in the large complex has a damaged door. The door is swollen from damp weather and does not shut, instead of fixing it early. The toilet door now needs to be replaced. Hard to recommend a business that can't fix such a simple problem. The company has known about it for months, the city council should check the premises for compliances. Need to find somewhere else for storage.

Just got another price increase

Just got another price increase. Way above inflation every time - double digits. I actually moved all my stuff into a new shed in the same facility (half a day's work) to get a cheaper unit (after numerous price increases = gouging) and they've done it again after 6 months! This time from $214/month to $267/ month... that's a 24.77% increase in six months (= 49.54% per annum). This is about the fourth increase in 2.5 years. Of course it's not like switching telephone companies. I'll have to hire a truck to move all my stuff. Would never have stored stuff with them in the first place if the company was transparent about doing this as a matter of course. Seems an unconscionable practice to me. I'm going to report this mob to the ACCC. I encourage others: PLEASE do to do the same.

Scripted Price Increases

Starting with the positives, the booking system, storage facilities, access and security are good, however things start to unfold once they have secured your business.
On two separate occasions and within three months of starting a storage contract, NS have issued price increases, each to the value of 15%. It appears to be a pricing strategy deployed by NS to systematically increase prices once they have hooked you in by claiming the price increase is necessary due to increased demand and inflation.
However, recent research shows that storage demand remains high but has been offset by the signifcant quantity of new storage facilities coming to market.
Energy costs and insurances have not risen at the same degree as the % increase demanded in the price notification.
Neither has NS Port Melbourne undergone any refurb or capital works updates recently, so it is hard to accept that their cost base has risen by the same magnetude as the price increase they have demanded.
Be prepared and request a fixed price for the term of storage or look elsewhere.

Price Gouging by Stealth

I moved my belongings to Montrose National Storage after buying boxes, portable wardrobes and packing tape in late December 2023. By January, the price had gone up 5%. In June the price went up again by 20%.

I immediately gave 14 days notice and moved to a Cambridge storage facility - much bigger and $100/month cheaper.

Price gouging in Australia is common (food, rentals, storage, fuel, parking fees, electricity). However, if you can, vote with your feet - businesses and government.

Jobsworth at National Storage

Strange that National Storage don't allow you to leave feedback.
We arrived at National Storage Newtown Wellington in a company furniture truck, we had the email from the company to our client with unit details ect on it.
We were refused entry as our client had missed a part of his email that he had to email them that we were coming even though he had discussed it on the phone.
We ended up driving to Kenards storage (a much better storage unit as we found out with great truck access unlike the National Storage place)
We were unable to contact our client as he is a pilot and was flying, so basically we were turned away by a jobsworth, it's not as if we were emptying a unit we were putting furniture in.

AVOID this company

AVOID this company.
My credit card declined payment while i was on holidays. I received an email notifying me of this and i immediately topped the card up and it subsequently went through. HOWEVER, NS cancelled my rental agreement immediately and without notice. I reached out to them to explain and all i got was a very curt one liner telling me to get stuffed. I had to cut my holiday short to remove the items from storage within 7 days as they threatened auction them.
Now they wont refund me the money they took off the card, saying it needs to cover their loss of rental!
They are next level AVOID. I will be taking them to consumer protection.

DO NOT RECOMMEMD

so when I signed up, the storage place was owned by another company. Since NS took over, access hours decreased, my monthly payment has steadily increased as has the soullessness of this company when contacted. You end up paying more than a new customer renting exact same space. My advice , take your business elsewhere!

Do not use this company

Gave one months notice to move out and paid the rental for that period. I was able to clear out the unit within the week. I was then contacted to say that they want confirmation in writing that I have moved out. I said I have paid up to 31 May 2024 and I will confirm at that date. I was told that they will deem that I have moved out, cancel my access code and rent the unit to another customer. What a bunch of $%^&*#@ #%^&!

DODGY AS!!

DODGY AS!!! Charged my credit card the monthly fee even though my son had moved out. Apparently it was because their office hadn’t ‘actioned’ it. Still waiting on refund weeks later and getting nowhere. Avoid this place.

Another greedy Australian Corporation

Another greedy Australian Corporation. Been with them for a little over a year already been hit with two prices increases. Setup a direct debit with them and it was reversed with no communication. They then charged an $11 late fee and $22 reversal fee. Emails to dispute charges and ask for explanation go unanswered. Appalling customer services....No way pay your bill other than Credit Card or Direct Debit. They would not provide bank account details to make payment. Locked my access to facility until pay all outstanding charges. Surely this isnt legal.
