Absolutely deplorable customer service. Employees are ignorant of the law, uneducated, dishonest, misuse 9-1-1 and called armed extortionists (local PD) on a law abiding citizen standing on the sidewalk. Employees brandished their middle fingers to a citizen on the sidewalk. Stay classy Nationwide, what a joke organization.

Purpose of CHRP Assessments

I am concerned about a recent email I received from a company called CHRP that is requiring a photo self-assessment of my property. I believe that the purpose of this self-review is simply to justify a premium increase. The photos requested will only show potential maintenance issues that are not covered by insurance anyway. I have had homeowners insurance through Nationwide for over 20 years, and this type of assessment was NEVER required in the past, even when I first got insurance through them. Highly suspect. Has anyone had repercussions because of this assessment?

Life Insurance - SCAM!!!!

This company is horrible with Life Insurance. We lost all of our cash value of $8000 dollars because they are unwilling to reduce policy coverage. Once you sign the monthly agreement, you can't reduce to a lower plan else you lose your cash value. This company is deceptive!

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Had home insurance which expired on 7th Dec. Had gone up almost 100% since I took it out 7 years ago. Underwriter changed recently but much confusion over who it actually is. Received no renewal information so went elsewhere. Now paying £14 per month instead of Natonwide's £38. Receiving confusing emails and text messages, also refusing to cancel my account - saying I have to ring them to chat about something, (even though my contract ended 7th Dec), also now ringing me from an unknown number. Intimidating and annoying. Never again ! Been a customer for both mortgage and home insurance for years. Avoid !

Once again I can’t make a payment using the card reader. I’ve already confirmed my ID and yet I get this message- We have a technical problem and are doing our best to fix it. Please try again later.
Going onto their site to see if it’s down they confirm all services are working. I can get into my account but can’t make the payment I want. Absolutely useless, will need to spend my valuable time on the phone to then yet again

DO NOT USE

I stupidly thought I was paying extra for a better policy. When I came to claim for a home emergency they glibly told me I'm not covered. Over priced! Poor policy! DO NOT USE. I will certainly be changing my policy at the next renewal. Angry at myself as if I had read the reviews on here I would never had taken out the policy. I'm just hoping that nothing else major happens that I'm not covered for! RUBBISH!

Nationwide. Company of nickels and dimes.

I am with Nationwide right now. They will nickel and dime you to death on any repair of a vehicle. I was struck by another car and the other insurance company was going to reimburse Nationwide, but the company’s any would not allow me to have my hood replaced on a damaged Certified Lexus ES350. They say a repair is fine when we all know this isn’t true. The hood was literally struck hard even to make it sit at an angle. Try AAA or even American Family.

If there was a zero star option…

If there was a zero star option I would have given zero stars. Nationwide do their best to create obstacles wherever possible to prevent a mortgage portal. They don’t want you staying on your existing rate so try and make it as difficult and lengthy a process as possible!

When I was retiring from the City of…

When I was retiring from the City of Aurora I had over 600 hours of unused sick time. Nationwide sent me a letter offering a Post Employment Health Plan (PEHP). The letter clearly indicated that I would be able to use funds associated with my unused sick time to cover my out-of-pocket medical expenses.
I decided to participate in PEHP. When I sent them some medical bills for reimbursement, they replied saying that my plan was for reimbursement of health insurance premiums only. This means that Nationwide was lying to me about reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses. Their motive is clear: they want your money, and they want to keep it for as long as possible in order to use it and make a profit off your money. Talking to Nationwide representatives was a complete waste of time. They imitate understanding and quick actions, but in reality, they have no intention and do nothing to help you.
My last communication with Nationwide was when I sent an email to Michelle Escobedo asking her to provide copies of some documents. She simply ignored my email. Before that, in her last email to me, she stated that (Quote) “The way PEHP is funded using only sick and/or annual leave, the IRS will only allow for the plan to reimburse health care premiums. This is an IRS rule” (End of quote).
Only three scenarios are possible here. (Let us not forget that the Nationwide letter stated that, while participating in PEHP, I would be able to get reimbursed for out-of-pocket medical expenses.)
Scenario 1: M. Escobedo was right; the IRS rule did not allow reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical expenses. This means that Nationwide grossly violated the IRS rule when, in their letter to me, they indicated reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical expenses.
Scenario 2: The IRS rule allows reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical expenses, and M. Escobedo knows about it but she states the opposite. This means that M. Escobedo is a liar.
Scenario 3: M. Escobedo is an illiterate, unprofessional employee. Here is some information for her. (Quote) “IRS rules for Post-Employment Health Plans (PEHP) confirm they are tax-advantaged arrangements, structured as a VEBA trust, for employees to fund medical expenses after employment.” (End of quote). I hope M. Escobedo’s logical abilities will allow her to understand that “medical expenses” is a very broad concept that fully includes the narrower concept of “out-of-pocket medical expenses”.

Don’t apply for a loan with Nationwide if you are an OAP. They would not accept my P60 and bank statement showing a DWP monthly entry (as proof of my income) and stated they didn’t know how long I would be receiving it. Spoke to Martin, an arrogant young man in their Complaints Department, who was unhelpful to say the least. I was made to feel like a second class citizen. I would never recommend this building society. Especially the Basildon branch. I have been treated appallingly.

Useless customer service on travel insurance…

Tried to put in a claim on travel insurance. The AI told me to do it online. Ha! It wants date of birth but that can't be put in manually you have to click it back to the year you were born. 1949 is a lot of clicks! And then it doesn't recognise you! I've been with Nationwide for years and would love to know why they have teamed up with Aviva as their insurance provider. Nationwide have taken a massive drop in my estimation. I tried online as requested so what do I do now?

I had major medical insurance for my dog for 7 1/2 years. Two months after he turned 8 Nationwide cancelled my insurance - they said it had nothing to do with his age,
I never needed to use my insurance for my dog the whole 7 1/2 years.
My insurance premiums when up every year and then they cancelled.
Don’t trust that your premiums will not be raised and surely don’t trust that won’t just take your money and cancel you when they want!

DO NO USE THEM!!

DO NO USE THEM!!! Dear Nationwide, I did the smart thing, I insured my pet. You promised in your advertising when I did that you wouldn’t cancel or raise rates just because your pet gets sick. My kitty gets cancer, yes you covered me as promised but the next year you tripled my rate and the year after that you canceled my plan and forced me into a plan that covers my cancer kitty to less than a fifth that what was originally covered and you called it “migrating to a similar coverage”. Nationwide is NOT on my side, you deliberately punished me for having an animal that got the worst disease possible. Your promises were fraudulent and you never gave me options besides downgrading me to you most minimal coverage. For anyone interested in Nationwide, steer clear. This is a complete fraudulent bait and switch insurance coverage and they don’t care about you or your animals need. Now I’m stuck with pretty much peanuts to cover my animals health care needs.

Nationwide is not on your side at all!!! I was with Nationwide for two years, and no accidents. I was involved in an accident. An e-bike hit the side of my car, and did damage to my vehicle. Edward C Bokern II, the adjuster for Nationwide came out to my work, and did my claims adjustment. He was aware the side view mirror was pushed backwards, and had damage. He then denied the repairs, after the adjustment. He is not a reliable adjuster. Be sure to always record your conversation with Edward C Bokern II. I did not find out until I got charged for the rental car that was rented again , due to the side view mirror not having been repaired. No email, no text, no call, no communication. Nationwide is a horrible insurance company. I would never recommend anyone have insurance through Nationwide.

Nationwide life Insurance policy deceitful practices

For the last thee years I have called Nationwide life Insurance and asked for explanations on my life insurance policy. Seems like no one at Nationwide can provide any specific answers to my questions about my life Insurance policy. Let me explain.
• I have a $25,000 life insurance policy, with a guaranteed 4% interest rate. The policy shows it grew past the $25,000 to a policy value of $32,600 with the interest.
• Then Nationwide says the Value of Surrender rate for the life Insurance policy is now $35,300.
• Then the most troubling comment made by Nationwide is .. Nationwide Life Insurance says the Guaranteed Surrender Value of the life insurance policy is only $15,000 dollars ! And No one there at Nationwide can explain to me whether they will just pay my love ones the way lower $15,000 dollar death benefit, when the policy death benefit was originally written for $25,000 dollars! with a cumulating 4% interest rate, which grew the life Insurance policy to $33,600 !!
• This sounds like scam to me! Will they just pay the way lower $15,000 amount for the life insurance policy? short changing my love ones? c I do Not Trust a word of what Nationwide has been saying to me. So I requested written answers to these questions through the mail delivery and the internet. If I don’t get satisfactory answers, I will hire a lawyer and sue Nationwide! If this is happening or did happen to any other people, please Start complaining because this could become a Class action lawsuit against Nationwide life Insurance! I am Waiting for the written answers to my questions to arrive. If there is No clear answers, I will go to the courthouse to file a lawsuit! Against Nationwide!

Yea I dropped these clowns last year

Yea I dropped these clowns last year. They refused to cover wind damage to my roof. Worst part is I am a veteran and my VA mortgage broker were the company that reccomended nationwide for homeowners insurance. That phrase “Nationwide is by your side” should be “Nationwide is full of shit” the adjuster came out to inspect my roof I also told them the nearby tree is a hazard. After the adjuster came they emailed me stating they wouldn’t cover getting rid of the tree or replacing any of my roof. And then told me I had to wash my roof, cut down the tree at my own expense or they would cancel my policy… so I picked up USAA they covered the cost of a full roof replacement plus the tree. Nationwide should suck a fat one.
