I tried to opt out of the pension scheme through the online chat but the customer service representative said they could not help me through that channel and that I had to ring their number. I then call the provided number and, reasonably quickly, I have been put through to a customer service representative. I must say that the customer service representative on the phone was lovely, efficient and great at providing information and advice on how to proceed to opt out, yet apparently she could not do so for me and transferred me back to the automated system so I could continue the process of opting out myself. From this point, I have been on the phone for an extra 15 minutes in order to do something as simple as opting out of the pension scheme. I can’t believe that the process was so long and bureaucratic. I would have done this myself online if Nest had not failed to send me the welcoming pack they kept saying in messages I would receive.
I am not surprised anymore that someone on the reviews above wrote that they were half expecting Nest to ask them to provide a blood or stool test next, during the process of opting out.

Absolutely awful experience trying get my pension out ,
It seems that the idea of a building society account is completely alien to the staff .
I keep getting the same message that I need to send more information,
Having sent a copy of the following ,a statement , passbook, driving license
But still get asked for more information I still do not know what information is required , just a standard letter
Perhaps they want my blood group and a stool sample

I like the nest pension and how it tries to help you, the only issue I have is every April , my payment doesn’t get taken and I have to do that month manually

Quick transfer, sooner than expected and easy to transfer due to easy to follow intructions via website 😁

Why in our digital world does it take 6 days for the money paid in to reach our accounts .

I have been trying to withdraw my pension for weeks.
I have sent NUMEROUS copies of documents...seems they have no record.
I suggested maybe a cheque (it's a fairly small amount.)
But no we do not send cheques.
I get the distinct feeling that they just want to keep
my money !
And AGAIN you ask for more details....you are playing for time....just give me my money.
I fully intend to persuade you, is the next step to bring an action against you ???
And again still no money. This is fraud

It was easy and seemless. Didn't need to call or do follow up reminders

All done on line with Nest Pensions. Very straight forward easy questions as long as you have all the necessary information at hand it doesn't take long. It's a great feeling when you're in control of your money. Nest Pensions kept me informed during the process and let me know when the transfer in was all complete.

Stay out of this company if you can...
My previous employer was using NEST for Pension Funds administration. Since I changed jobs, more than one year ago, I am trying to transfer my savings to the new Pension Fund administrator.
NEST has been doing everything they can to block this transfer. They keep on asking the same documents again and again, despite all was sent as per their request, even if it is known that they do not need those documents.
The way this company tries to block the transfer out is borderline with illegal activity. They the excuse that they are "protecting my savings" but, in reality, they are making everything complicated so I give up and leave my funds with them.
I strongly suggest you to stay away of this company...
UPDATE.
Based on the reply, it came clear that they are not even checking what they ask and what I've sent so far. All the documents have been sent as required, and they keep on asking THE SAME DOCUMENTS again and again. They do not seem to even read the replies to their communications.
As said, stay away from this company. They will make everything they can to stop you from moving to another Pension Fund.

Unable to access information my pension dashboard online.Phoned to report it and sent screenshot s to them as requested. You will hear from us in 7 working days they said .No one phoned.Got an email saying problem was resolved ( it wasn't) Phoned them to say so,had to explain the whole situation once again like they knew nothing about it.Asked to speak to a supervisor or manager .No one was available but someone will call you in 4 to 24 hours they told me (they didn't )
This morning got another email to say my issue was now resolved( it isn't)
Have put in a complaint but not hold much hope at this point. Will consider transferring to another provider as the customer service is extremely poor in my experience.Nobody seems able to take any responsibility.
Update, 20 hours after posting this review they ( Nest)requested further information from me on this platform and said they would get back to me " in 3 working days" No phone direct phone call to me.What concerns me is if I die before my wife she will get the same run a round customer service I have received trying to access my funds. Will have to consider transferring to another provider who has a better customer focused view.Very frustrating and disappointing.
Further update- put a formal complaint in and 48 hrs later got an email saying thank you for withdrawing your complaint ( I hadn't)
Unbelievable!

I honestly could not leave a lower review if I tried.
This entire experience has been exhausting, stressful, disorganised, and completely lacking in empathy from start to finish. What makes it even worse is that this was all on behalf of my mother, who is of retirement age and simply wanted access to her own pension funds. A process we were told would take around two weeks dragged on for more than eight weeks, with constant chasing, little to no meaningful communication, and absolutely no sense that anyone genuinely cared about the impact this was having on her.
Had my mother been dealing with this alone, I genuinely believe it would have been near impossible for her to navigate. The lack of structure, accountability, and communication was staggering. Calls led nowhere, updates were vague or non-existent, and every interaction felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience rather than customers dealing with something deeply important and personal.
What became painfully clear throughout this process is that customer wellbeing means absolutely nothing here. There was no empathy, no urgency, no ownership, and no understanding whatsoever of the stress they were causing. As long as they can argue that they technically haven’t breached a guideline or internal timeframe in some small-print procedural sense, they simply do not care about the human impact of their failures.
The emotional strain this caused my mother was immense. Retirement should not involve weeks upon weeks of uncertainty, anxiety, and feeling powerless while trying to access your own money. Watching her worry while being repeatedly left without answers was infuriating.
Even after raising a formal complaint, the response was dismissive and defensive. Rather than acknowledging the distress and unacceptable handling of the situation, they chose to minimise it and suggest the complaint lacked substance. That response alone tells you everything you need to know about this company and its attitude towards the people it is supposed to support.
I would strongly urge absolutely anyone considering using this pension provider to think very carefully before doing so. There are countless alternatives out there, and I would recommend going to literally ANY OTHER pension provider before trusting this company with something as important as your retirement savings.
Truly one of the worst customer experiences I have ever encountered.

Still waiting for my pension to be released since starting the process on 25th March, they have been sending all letters to old address, despite reading off my new address every time I called. Only found this out when recorded letter tracking number was sent and I tracked it myself and the address was the old one.... Absolutely shocking customer service.

I wanted to consolidate my pensions. The process was easy to follow, any problems there was help at hand if needed. So much better now all pensions are in one place.
Thank you Pension Team .
