Incredibly disappointing for serious swimmers – management completely ignoring emails

I am deeply frustrated with the current management and pool availability at Nuffield Health in Oxford.

My daughter is a competitive junior swimmer, currently ranked in the top 5 in the UK for her age group. She needs consistent, quality water time to maintain her training, but it has become practically impossible for her to swim here.

The pool scheduling is heavily skewed. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are frequently designated as "adult-only." On the rare occasions that "family swimming" is permitted, only one lane is allocated for lane swimming. To make matters worse, this single lane is invariably taken up by adults swimming at a leisurely pace, meaning a serious athlete cannot get a proper training session done.

I have tried to resolve this constructively. I have emailed the manager numerous times about this issue. After initially acknowledging the problem and stating she would sort it out because my daughter is a serious swimmer, she has now completely ignored my last five emails. To visit the centre today to literally not be able to lane swim in the ‘family session’ due to 4 slow adult swimmers and 1 walking in the lane is extremely disappointing.

With school the ‘family swims’ that are advertised just simply doesn’t work.

For a premium health club, the lack of flexibility, poor lane management, and downright dismissive communication from management is completely unacceptable. If you have children who are serious about their swimming, look elsewhere.

They tried to take money from me that was not owed. I ended up in a prolonged email dispute with them, where they refused to listen to me. They refused to liaise with my insurance company, and then threatened debt collection. When I complained they said they were investigating the complaint but it took months with no response. They breached a subject access request. I threatened to sue and they investigated and resolved the complaint in my favour in under 2 weeks. I was issued a refund. Rude and dismissive staff and you have to actually send a notification you are going to sue them for them to do anything.

Hi Ben,

We're sorry to hear about your experience and the frustration this caused. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. It's disappointing to learn that communication, complaint handling, and your concerns were not managed to the standard you should expect.

We're pleased the matter was ultimately resolved and a refund issued, but we regret the difficulties you faced in reaching that outcome.

Kind regards.

Total Hip Replacement at The Manor Oxford

I recently had total hip replacement surgery at the Manor Hospital, Oxford. My surgeon was excellent from start to finish. He always provided clear explanations and was very empathetic and supportive throughout. My anaesthetist was also fantastic, he really helped ease my anxiety. The staff, nurses and physiotherapists who took care of me and supported me after my op were all very kind, respectful and professional. The results have been great so far and my recovery is progressing well. Huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone at the Manor who helped me through this difficult time, I appreciate you all. Highly recommend.

Sweaty Betty is only for pretentious wearers.

Since joinging the gym in Farnham its very difficult to get a space on any of the classes. The gym has provided mens only yoga for many months on a monday evening prime time which always has spaces. They do not cater for woman dispite their philosophy of tacking "girls barriers to exercise".
The swimming pool is well maintained but the steam and sauna is covered in black moulds- so I no longer use them.
When I signed up to the gym my sales lady said, "there is no pretentious sweaty betty gym wearers here", so guess my sweaty betty gym wear should be binned, but since I can't get onto a class because Farnham predominantly catered for men I will be keeping my "pretentious brand". Rarely do the staff actually greet or welcome you with receptionists head down. But other than DL there is no other gyms with a pool in the area.

I was recently a patient at Nuffield…

I was recently a patient at Nuffield Haywards Heath hospital for hip reshaping surgery the standard of care I received was outstanding.

From the moment I arrived to the day I was discharged, the experience was absolutely world-class.
I want to extend a massive thank you to my surgeon, Dr. Gibbs, whose expertise, precision, and reassuring manner gave me complete confidence going into the procedure. I also want to recognize the surgical team, specifically Tony, Ged, and Jane, who were absolutely exceptional—professional, kind, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire process.
The superb care didn't stop when I left the operating room. The aftercare team on the ward was phenomenal. A special thank you goes to Emmanuel, Nathan, Kathy, Kevin and Luciana along with the rest of the incredible nursing, catering and cleaning staff, all who looked after me with so much dedication, patience, and warmth. They truly went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, well-managed for pain, and safely back on my feet.
Please could you ensure this review is passed along to Dr. Gibbs and all the team members mentioned above, as well as their department managers? I want them to know how much I appreciate everything they did for me.
Thank you again for providing outstanding surgical expertise combined with compassionate, top-tier patient care.
Warm regards,
