We spoke to Robin today who gave us so much of his time. He gave us great, sound advice and took time to ensure we thoroughly understood the options he gave us and the paperwork we need to supply.
Robin called us back ten minutes later having already got answers to some of our questions.
We now feel in a very safe pair of hands to go forward with our issues against our local authority.

I have (sadly) had many occasions where I’ve turned to the Union for advice and guidance. I have always found them to be knowledgeable, honest and they’ve given me clear instructions / suggestions as to what I need to do. Frequently this has been backed up by a written email to make sure I can keep referring back to it.
I joined because someone recommended them to me but thought ‘I’ll never need to use them’ . Life changes very quickly though - don’t get caught out.

National Union of Professional Foster Carers is an organisation that every foster carer should belong to. It costs very little to become a member.
It took me several years to discover about the existence of this extremely useful trade union.
NUPFC is the best kept secret that many fostering agencies wish that you never knew about.
Every worker deserves to feel secure about their employment. They must be protected from all forms of intimidation and harassment at their place of work, especially where there is no factual basis for any aggressive or destructive behaviour towards a foster carer.
NUPFC is the ultimate guarantee that you need in order to ensure that you feel secure.

In my more than 11 years as a foster carer, joining the National Union of Professional Foster Carers is the best career to move that I ever made.

I can honestly say without the support of the NUPFC we would be totally broken people. Our experience of fostering over the past nearly 7 years has been brutal! We've been treated appallingly,so much so we are now accessing therapeutic support privately. The union believed us, fought for us and helped us drop a completely unwarranted case against us brought in our opinion through spite as we had a complaint against them. Whilst facing a difficult period in our fostering journey, we joined the union for immediate support, an invaluable decision. While we did have foster support in place, we immediately felt a real shift after joining the Union. Things began to move with greater ease and clarity, and we were finally able to focus on what mattered most, without constantly battling to be heard. It was, without a doubt, the best decision we could have made. From the outset, we were met with empathy, professionalism, and integrity. Robin Findlay helped us access support straight away, even before our membership had fully begun. Once our case was taken on by Chris Offiler, we knew we were in safe hands. Chris brought calm, clarity, and expert guidance to every stage. He was always available, fully prepared, and consistently reassuring, his belief in us never wavered. At one point, we even asked Chris during a phone call how he manages to balance the needs of everyone he supports. He is always answering emails, responding to messages, and calmly addressing every concern. We laughed and asked him if he ever sleeps! His response was so kind and genuine, he simply said that offering reassurance and support is what matters most, and reassured us that he does get sufficient rest. That moment summed up everything about his approach: thoughtful, tireless, and deeply committed. Even after being reapproved, the support from Chris and the union has continued. Their commitment goes beyond advice, they stand with you. We’re incredibly grateful for the reassurance, strength, and direction Chris provided. His dedication made all the difference, and we’ll always remember it.

Join join join! I’ve been a foster carer for nearly 20 years… I’ve heard good things about the NUPFC but hadn’t joined until recently and am so glad I did. You never know when you will need specific informed help, but it’s not just about that… it is also a great source of general support and information.

Helping with my Court Case is very important to me

The team at NUPFC have been nothing but exemplary in supporting us during an extremely difficult period in our fostering journey. We felt supported, listened to and were meticulously guided throughout. Chris and Robin are stalwarts in this field. We found them approachable, helpful and despite working long hours late into the evening always had time for us. If your thinking of joining a union or already part of one I would strongly recommend NUPFC. They will not leave you in the lurch nor just provide lip service. They have a proven track record for supporting foster carers in their most difficult of times. The membership fees are also extremely reasonable and joint members pay a fraction of the main members fees. It's a 5***** from us keep up the great work NUPFC!

I big thank you to Robin who answered my call so quickly and Chris who has been amazing in helping me with a standard of care allegation all caused by me advocating strongly for a child in my care although things are not finalised yet it is moving in right direction and my agency has confirmed they do not want to register me
Every foster care should stand together and join this amazing union who are advocating so strongly for us I’ve been fostering over 10 years had the child for 9 and never imagined I would be in this position so all of you never know when this can happen to you and you need these people behind you
We will never be safe from this system until we have employment rights and our own professional registration system this union are fighting so hard to get us

Can't fault the support the union has given our family when times have been so difficult for us. Without their advice and backing I'm not sure where our family would be right now.

I cannot speak highly enough of Chris and Robyn. You are always made to feel like their only client despite knowing how much their workload is. Chris is so down to earth and honest and has given us so much professional support as well as emotional support. This is not just a job to them, they really care and the evidence is there.

I cannot speak highly enough about Chris at NUPFC. He supported & helped my sister (also a foster carer) through a crisis she was having with her IFA. Recently, I too, had to ask for advice & support regarding a disruptive placement when I was not receiving the required help from my council. Despite it being late evening, a desperate text from myself received a response from Chris within the hour & he gave me all the advice I required to resolve my problem with the council. His knowledge of the law & foster carer rights is invaluable & empowering and, when backed up by written support from NUPFC, ensured that I was listened to by the council & my problem resolved. The empathy, concern & follow up call to support me after the problem had been sorted, was really appreciated too. For the minimal membership fee, joining the NUPFC was one of the best decisions I have made & I highly recommend it to fellow foster carers!

Being a member of NUPFC provided us with the confidence and power to question the actions of our IFA, make recommendations and to seek resolution to a situation that was not at all child focused.
