To care, means to suffer at NND.

A clear Lack of experience and skills mix from upper management and higher ups - prone to happen in any franchise - places stupendous pressure on management staff.
To care, means to suffer at NND. The goal is growth and KPI's. There is no actual interest or value supporting delivery of best practice home care or supporting staff in management. Profit margins are more important than caring skills. Add an exponential workload and, you can guess the rest...
Not for caring hearts.

Minus 1/4 star for answering the phone… & doing jack about it!

Had to use this company for the lack of services in that area.
The staff were always pleasant on the phone, but I knew I was never going to get the help I needed, no matter how many assurances they gave me it was coming.

Firstly, they REALLY did not like that I wanted to pay my/their Support Workers travel to & from my residence (to ensure I could get help I needed).
I would have to insist that the SWs got paid.

So then, they stopped making them available to me… sometimes, even at the very last minute.
Yes, that’s right, at the very LAST minute.
Leaving me up the creek, without any help whatsoever. This is Management for you.

The only nurse I could get, was a senior staff member, who liked my pets, otherwise they would have removed her too.

With this particular Franchise/Area, it’s ALL about the $$$. They don’t give a rat’s elbow about your actual needs.
And once they know you’re going, they ensure the account is fully paid up, before the door hits you on the proverbial.

NND Gippsland don’t even bother with a ‘thank you’ and ‘farewell’.
I think that says it all, don’t you?!

Terrible SIL Team for someone with high care needs

The SIL team at my mother’s residence transitioned to Nurse Next Door with what initially appeared to be strong promise. The organisation presented as experienced and assured us of high standards of care, including oversight from registered nurses. Unfortunately, our experience since the transition has been consistently disappointing.

There has been an extremely high turnover of staff across all levels, including support workers, registered nurses, team leaders, and senior management. This lack of continuity makes it very difficult to maintain accountability or ensure consistent standards of care.

We have experienced several serious issues, including a critical medication error where my mother was administered another resident’s full Webster pack for the evening (approximately 10 medications). This resulted in her being hospitalised for several days while doctors worked to stabilise her condition. This incident alone raises significant concerns regarding medication management and supervision.

Additional concerns include staff sleeping during active overnight shifts, inadequate training for SIL staff caring for high-needs residents, and a culture where responsibility appears to be placed on frontline staff rather than addressed at a management level. Essential equipment has also been allowed to go uncharged, preventing safe transfers for multiple residents.

From a day-to-day care perspective, there have been ongoing issues with basic household management, including failure to maintain adequate groceries and improper food rotation, resulting in spoiled items being left unused. My mother relies on 24/7 care and they have left her in the past waiting to go to bed till 10:30pm, dinner late when shes hungry, left waiting to go to the toilet etc.

Overall, the service has required an unreasonable level of oversight from family members, which is particularly challenging when not living on-site. Based on our experience, the level of care and professionalism has not been close to meeting our expectations, and I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options.

Unreliable and mostly unqualified…

Unreliable and mostly unqualified (Cert1 not Cert3) support workers.
NND changes times and days with no regard to my dads schedule of other appointments then tries to charge him for cancelling at short notice when it was NND that changed times at short notice.
Companies like this are just after money and really don't care about your loved ones at all.

Terrible experience At nurse Next Door, Nurse

Money Hungry! Management does not care, they lie and cheat to get new clients and don’t communicate properly. They expect junior staff to let you know what’s happening in the company. NND overcharge continually and don’t refund until you find the errors yourself and bring it to their attention. Customer Service does not exist. They continually swap your regular staff with other staff. They rarely call you when staff have been changed or to let you know if the staff member is late. At least 50% of staff have not been trained domestically to do the domestic work that is expected. They do have some great carers but unfortunately there are more bad carers, who have no empathy no training and no caring ability. Make a valid complaint against a staff member they are simply moved to another SIL facility, with more non-verbal clients.

Amazing experience overall !

All the nurses were very patient. Explained everything in discussion with myself, educated me and always at disposition. I would not hesitate to access their services again and I will recommend it to other people.

Unpredictable if a nurse/carer will turn up…

Unpredictable if a nurse/carer will turn up on the day you book or even turn up at all.
When a nurse/carer did turn up, I was curious if the nurse/carer was actually a nurse so I asked.
The answer was "no I'm not a nurse, but I have a certificate 1 in aged care". Certificate 1???. A one day online course and charged $90 per hour. Never again
