Cheapest policy and now I know why

Cheapest is not always best.
Just had to cancel my motor insurance policy and had to pay £170+ to cancel on top of the monthly DD payments ( none missed ).
Borderline extortion. Will never go near them again.

Well where do I start

Well where do I start!
I got my car insurance renewal price through which was £50 up from last year.
I went to comparison sites and was able to get my car insurance cheaper elsewhere so I decided to cancel my renewal. This is where the issues started. I was number 32 in the queue to get to the chat, so 25 minutes later I got on the chat.
I asked that my renewal be cancelled as I had a cheaper quote. I then got what is your renewal price, who is it with, is it a like for like policy etc etc. At this point I asked for clarification as to why they needed this information to cancel my renewal. Still waiting on an answer.
They then came back with a £70 reduction which was cheaper than my insurance last year with the same insurer!
In all I had to repeat I wanted my renewal cancelled 5 times before they gave up and confirmed that it wouldn't be renewed. Over an hour on the chat!
Never will I be anywhere near this company again and I'm just glad I never had to make a claim if cancelling a renewal was this difficult.

I will never use One Click again

I will never use One Click again. you must do everything on line, but when you try you can't do anything on line. To say I was stuck in a loop is an understatement, all I needed to do was to tell them that I had retired and that my motorhome is now parked in my drive not on the road, which you must do otherwise your information is incorrect and you are not covered if you have an accident. There isn't a phone number. NO PHONE NUMBER. But there is an online chat, but if you can't type as fast as you can speak, they will assume you have gone and you will be cut off and you will have to start again, yes loop. I was going to renew my insurance with them for the third year, but instead I choses to cancel the auto renewal, guess what, yes, you couldn't do that either. After two hours I just gave up, I will have to go to my bank and cancel my direct debit. Ten minutes later I get a phone call from One Click, we see you are having a problem renewing, yes, where were you for the last two hours when I needed you. Well I managed to cancel the renewal and got conformation. Never again.

A physical phone call was much quicker

Took a long time to get through to 'chat' online(20mins) then had to answer security questions 3 times! Asked for a telephone call in person and was told ' nobody available' after an hour...and patience running out I said I would cancel.Amazingly someone called within 5 mins!! Problem sorted in 5 mins..and I could have avoided an hour wasted!! Also very difficult for disabled people...a phone call is much better

Frustrating company

I opened a policy with them, just myself with 1 car. About 2 weeks after the policy started i got a letter saying i hadn't disclosed an accident 2 years prior and i was being charged £90 more. This accident was my ex, in her car that she owned, that i wasn't in, but fine. i go through customer service who tell me i need to get this in writing to have it removed. I get it in writing, confirming it wasn't my car, nor was i even there. I speak to their customer service team again, reiterating that this person is no longer on the policy, nor in my life, but now they essentially copy and paste 'it was your policy though' to me 4 or 5 times and that the charge stands. They then decided to waive the admin fee but keep the insurers charge, which about halved it. I was going to cancel my policy, but the cancellation fee (which they charge even if you're in your 14 day window) was the same as keeping it. Praying i never have to make a claim with them now as i don't imagine that will be a fun process. Frustrating company, there are plenty of other insurers out there.

Pointless online chat.

A pointless waste of an hour of my time. I was no further forward at the end of the conversation than at the beginning in getting my windscreen replaced (which I had reported by phone 5 days previously)

Outrageous cancellation charges £50

Hidden in their T&C's it states that if you cancel the policy even within the 14 day cool off period, there is a £49.99 fixed charge. I only had the policy for about 12 hours. Most of the good insurers do not have this.

AR5. Great advice

I contacted One Click to cancel my policy due to changing my car. AR5 guided me through the process to receive a quote for my new car and turned the cancellation into ongoing business. Great job.

DO NOT use One Click Insurance

DO NOT use One Click Insurance
Got a minor dent in a parking lot. Insurance quoted 5 days to fix. They collected the car, and then told me it would take 5 to 7 days to fix. 3 weeks later, after no updates, or contact of ANY kind, I tried to contact them, but they have no published phone numbers, and their AI online chat is circular with no answers.
Eventually found the phone number on a web chat of other unfortunate “customers”. Called and was told the axle and wheel hub they had ordered to fix my dented door had not come in. 3 more weeks with no update and the car was dropped back at me WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD.
Best they can do is have it repaired in 2 weeks, and in the meantime I am left without a car as it can not be driven with a broken windshield. No courtesy car, despite them acknowledging they broke it “somehow”, because they feel it’s quite safe and legal to drive a car like this.
There is no complaints process to speak of

One Call Insurance is a separate company to One Call Claims, and the repair company OC Auto Repairs is a 3rd company altogether, and they are completely disconnected. There is no way to contact any of them unless you scour the tinternet webchats for other disgruntled suckers/customers. Seriously give this company a skip.

I was in contact with Lewis who was able to sort my issue, but too much attempted upselling. Clearly on commission, but when you just need tech help, I found it annoying.
THAT SAID! He has since investigated further and got me back in to the portal after being ‘locked out again’ what a very helpful young man indeed!
