Oyo scam… price not same.. and auto cancel no refund.. void oyo app.. go use agoda better
I booked an OYO hotel which they advertised on Agoda. They even texted me the day before to "confirm the booking". When I reached, the receptionist said that the room was not available. I don't understand how they can possibly refuse a customer with a booking.
Less than an hour after, OYO call centre called me. I asked the employee the same question: how is it possible that my booking not be honoured? His replies were that of a robot: he wasn't even able to answer this simple question. He ended up saying that his call time was limited and said goodbye.
Something is very wrong with OYO. Booked a room from OYO few weeks ago, paid in full, got the confirmation email, basically everything done. But when I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist told me that the hotel is actually closed in preparation for renovation, so they are not taking in any guest at all. Worse, I was told that they had stopped their partnership with OYO since 2 months ago, yet OYO continues to sell their rooms anyway, sending guests to their hotel everyday, only to be turned away. I immediately called up OYO customer service. The customer service agent told me that the hotel was overbooked (which is a lie!). I emphasized to OYO repeatedly that hotel is actually not open for business at all and eventually settled in a different hotel. Since then, I checked OYO everyday and found that the same hotel (that had been closed for renovation) is still being listed for booking - OYO didn't take down that listing and continues to happily sell rooms that essentially do not exist.
DO NOT BOOK OVER OYO!
Avoid this place at any cost
It's a waste of money, energy and nerves
For this 3 night stay I paid 240.84 MYR. They gave me a Room 109, which is on the same floor as the reception.
I came to the hotel and I give my passport and they ask for PDF - booking confirmation. OK, I give them that too and they ask me for proof that tax was paid. I tell them to look at their database and they said they don't have it and that I need to have it, and they waste 10 minutes of my time. So I can't get my room until I show that part of receipt or until I pay Tax that I already paid, but then I can get it refunded next time I show the proof. I don't know if the Hotel or Booking.com are wrong, but a customer should never wait. Then I go to my room and write to Booking.com and no answer from them. Then when I came to the room, it was around 10 PM, there is a loud music from the bar downstairs. They should write that there is a loud bar below... Not possible to sleep until 1:30 (loud music, and then from 1:30 less loud), 2AM, even with earplugs until 1:30 AM. Then in the morning I complain about the noises and they said they will give me another room. However, the Indian guy at the reception has calls with someone at 9 AM, on the speakerphone... Is that professional, is that hospitality? I asked for cancellation for the next 2 days and they say that I have to contact Booking.com for that... If I come here on holidays to recharge my batteries for next month, is this what I should get? Staff is kind, but no common sense and organization. I asked Manager on the 3rd day to cancel the room for the last day and give me back money for that they and he says it's not possible by them, but by booking.com, if it was direct, they would do it. I told him about personal calls of his staff in the morning and I thought they would stop but no. Since I could hear everything on the reception from the room 109, why do they make unnecessary noises in the morning... Not just that, on the last night they were super loud, having phone calls at 2 AM. I uploaded it.
Additionaly I asked booking.com for refund, they didn't give me, I asked OYO, and they said contact us on this number, and I have to call malaysia and spend money so you guve me back my money? What a mess...
Absolutely awful scam. No refund for the hotel as they continue to give you the runaround. The hotel was infested with bugs and rats it was so filthy I could not stay. I’ve been trying for six weeks on my refund.
