Account limited without reason and unhelpful support

Just like many others, our business account got limited without any reason. We are not in eBay and we only use Paypal for our software subscription. Their long-waiting live chat support kept pointing me to a page I've seen 1000 times without any hint what to do or what document to provide.
They are supposed to be the leader in online payment. I'm very disappointed in them.

NEVER EVER AGAIN

NEVER EVER AGAIN. We have numerous Paypal accounts personal and business -- now pulled them all. Paypal processed an unlawful transaction, for a non-existent negative balance (due to their system default issue), charging me 3 times the value of the transaction. Was contacted to by their US representative (Matt operator ID204) for perhaps the most frustrating "customer service" conversation I have ever had. Also had to replace credit card (Australian Bank recommended) and logins as a result. Have used Paypal for years for their perceived security benefits/protections re online transactions -- could not have been more wrong, particularly as the issue was with Paypal, not a merchant.

Paypal has sided with a scam company in…

Paypal has sided with a scam company in China, selling bad electronics with false advertising. They are wrong in what protection they give to the buyers. Secondly they should have checked the scam company and should not have accepted as a legitimate seller on their books.

Unjustifiably withholding payment…

Unjustifiably withholding payment already made by buyer to my account requiring me to provide tracking information which I do not have since the terms of sale was "pick up" only and buyer was responsible for collecting, packing and delivery. Buyer already acknowledged receipt of the item purchased. Standard reply from online 'agent' with no consideration of actual sale terms. Worst customer service using the pandemic as an excuse for shutting down phone service

No protection for buyers!

No protection for buyers!
I used PayPal for many years, this was the first time I needed to ask PayPal to help, but they disappointed me! I bought a box of "disposable surgical face masks" from sea-north.com. The masks are illigitmate surgical masks, I requested full refund from Sea-north unsuccessfully, then I asked PayPal to assist. They both asked me to send the masks back to China, but it is illegal to send disposable face masks to oversea since the pandemic Covid19. Then PayPal denied my claim! There is no buyers protection to use PayPal for online shopping! Never use PayPal again!

PayPal used to be a great advocate for buyers

Like many comments here, PayPal is no longer an advocate for the buyers. My last two claims were closed without any real information as to why.
I used to buy everything with PayPal because I felt safe when opening a dispute. Now, in the last two claims, they asked me to open a claim with my financial institution. What is the point of paying with PayPal if I need to go to my credit card to open a dispute.
To imagine that opening a dispute with a credit card company is better than using PayPal. What a regression.
I am trying to find an alternative now.

I have honestly had no bad experiences with them. I frequently make purchases in US-based countries and I appreciate the exact cost in AUD before I purchase it, not just relying on google exchange rate data which is incorrect 99.9% of the time lol. Customer support is also very good and quick to respond (surprisingly).

It makes using eBay easier (there isn't really any choice), but fees are high for the service of looking after your money for a few days. I just sold an item for $5 and the total was $4.60. I'd prefer another, better option. The only upside is relatively good speed of transfer these days. A morning transfer is usually in by 5:30-7:30. Making someone a little bit of money at everybody's expense. Not a nice experience.

The big Paypal bluff...! Fraud company PayPal...! Misleading advertising?

The company PayPal has developed into a fraudulent company and commits the offence of committing fraud and the deliberate misappropriation of customer funds.

1. customer accounts are closed for no reason
2. client funds are embezzled for 21-180 days
3. catastrophic customer sport
4. the advertised buyer protection is not really available and is undermined and leveraged by constantly changing business conditions.
5. there are thousands of complaints to the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) regarding the company PayPal.
6) Thousands of former PayPal users have been charged with fraud and the deliberate misappropriation of customer funds.
7) Many well-known and reputable shops have banned PayPal as a means of payment and replaced it with others.
8. customer data are passed on unauthorized to the company "SANDOW TRUST". Thus it may be possible that you as a customer or seller are blocked on other trading platforms.

etc. etc...

Misleading advertising?
Is this exclusion compatible with the blatant advertising with which PayPal advertises on eBay and other shops?

At least that seems doubtful. Slogans such as: "Free PayPal buyer protection in unlimited amount" or "Always simple and secure" give the impression that effective buyer protection also exists as advertised.

That this is not always the case, however, is shown by research on the Internet. Ever more eBay salesmen - commercial and private - customers of PayPal report on accounts partially blocked for months. The additional demand of proofs and vouchers, which seem to have nothing to do with the auction and similar little comprehensible pitfalls.

But also buyers are often rejected with their application for buyer protection, because in the opinion of PayPal it did not come to a "substantial deviation" of the article to the article description. Such examples were also shown in today's Full Kanne article.

All in all, the buyer protection with PayPal represents nothing more than a gesture of goodwill, to which no claim exists at all on closer inspection. It is solely up to PayPal to let the buyer protection take effect. Against the decision the customer can do finally de facto nothing at all.

Therefore the impression suggests itself, with the advertisement of the official means of payment of a new generation it could concern a misleading advertisement forbidden by the UWG. The consumer is deceived precisely because of the fact that the advertised buyer protection does not exist as a claim at all, but is only placed at the discretion of PayPal as a gesture of goodwill. Buyer protection thus becomes a toothless tiger. The customer, however, weighs himself in security due to the advertising and perhaps rather enters into questionable transactions on the Internet, which he would not have entered into at all with a regular transfer.

But also the promise to sellers is not always kept. Here the impression is created that the turnover of a shop or the eBay account can be increased, since the customer weighs himself in security via PayPal and, as a satisfied customer, gladly returns to the shop to generate further turnover. This may well be the case.
The problem of arbitrariness without the possibility of legal protection had to be experienced by the seller in the second example. His buyer submitted a dubious expert opinion from another merchant and inserted Paypal for the payment...

Better to renounce the buyer protection?

Ultimately, PayPal does not really offer its customers the promised seller and buyer protection. In view of this, the question arises as to whether the service provides both buyers and sellers with extra security on eBay. Because in the case of fraud, a payment that was instructed by PayPal cannot simply be cancelled without PayPal checking the process again. The subsequent procedure with submitting receipts etc. often takes several weeks, in which the real eBay fraudster has long since been over the mountains with the goods.

Conclusion:
1. avoid PayPal as much as possible
2. any credit card payment via an alternative payment provider is much safer, as payments are claimed directly via the card provider.
3 The actual business model of PayPal is absolutely unnecessary.

Shame on you PayPal!

I opened a dispute because I didn’t receive a product I paid for through PayPal from the company, Gracybee.com. This company refused to refund my partial payment for the unsent product of $22.95 USD and PayPal went in favour of this seller. PayPal asked me to send all products back for a full refund which I didn’t want to do as I had already used them. I just wanted my money back for the product I didn’t receive and there was no way to contact the resolution centre during the dispute. Shame on you PayPal for allowing this company to keep my money for nothing and now I’m $22.95 poorer with nothing to show for it. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!

PayPal resolution

Hi I am not happy with PayPal decision regarding to a dispute.
I have purchased a custom t-shirt at a online website that allows you to upload a photo for it to be printed on the front of the shirt. Upon doing so I have sent the seller an email asking to simply not crop the photo and to have the entire photo on the shirt. Seller responds saying they'll honor this request. Several days later I received my shirt in the mail and the photo the shirt has been cropped! Unimpressed I emailed the seller informing them that I was not happy with the shirt. Seller admitted they made a mistake and offered a 20% refund or free replacement, so I chose to go with the replacement as I found that the 20% refund is an insult. In the middle of exchanging these emails I've decided to open up a dispute at the PayPal resolution center in order to protect myself. A couple days later seller emails me asking me to close the dispute and they'll ship out the replacement shirt. I emailed back requesting a photo of the replacement shirt and I am happy with it, I'll close the dispute. Seller emailed back saying they cannot do this as the t-shirt needed to be produced and will do this once dispute is closed. I emailed the seller back stating that I have changed my mind and like a full refund instead, got emailed back saying they cannot issue a refund and to let paypal resolve the case. A couple days later I get an email from PayPal saying that the case has be resolved in the sellers favour! What!? As far as I am aware the ACCC explicitly states that if a product is not what you purchased I am entitled to a repair, replace or refund. I have emailed the ACCC explaining what has happened along with photographic proof of the incorrect t-shirt and email exchanges between me and the seller. I am currently awaiting their response. I've also emailed PayPal asking why am I unable to appeal their decision as the option to do so isn't available on their website, yet people were able to make a appeal in the past.

Not happy Jan!

Paypal scammed me

Deposited AUD $200 into my Paypal Australia account 3 years ago. I still cannot spend that money or get a refund. Paypal now claim I am subject to N.American and not Australian law. Paypal is obviously an online, electronic scam and they have stolen $200 from me through what seems to be fraud.

Buyer Protection is non existent with…

Buyer Protection is non existent with paypal. They do not investigate claims properly at all. They ask for documentation/proof etc but it seems they don't bother to look at it. I have not received an item I ordered and the tracking and account clearly shows this yet they closed the claim which I cannot appeal (they have removed that option) and even though their is proof that the item has not been dispatched they have ruled in favour of the seller. They do not give a toss about anyone and they have absolutely no buyer protection. I give them a minus rating too.

BUYER PROTECTION DOES NOT EXIST - totally biased in seller's favour

Order placed in Oct 2018. No contact from the company after money was taken from my account. No response to emails sent asking if the item had shipped. No shipping information provided to me. PayPal claim opened on 7 Nov 2018. Tracking number provided directly to PayPal - tracking shows 'delivered' but no package has been delivered to my home. PayPal has closed the claim in the seller's favour without bothering to check with me if I had received the item. I would like my money refunded but PayPal are no longer responding to emails. Dispute Resolution process is a joke (tell me to take actions through the Resolution Centre that are not available to me or to contact the seller directly when I have already advised that the seller is not responding to my emails) and the website is not user friendly.
PayPal IS NOT SAFE TO USE AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT PROTECTING BUYERS!

I ADVISE ALL to avoid PayPal is motivated by greed.

PayPal has given me a bad time. Is very quick to take out money but makes it impossible to get it back. I have had my bank account with them for many years, but now they asked verify my bank account. Was an error of PayPal as they changed my account to Thai ( without my consent) It was Rejected PayPal reduced my refund from $33.02 to $28.02. I have had a reply from my Bank account CONFIRMING Nothing wrong with my bank account is PayPal error. Furthermore PayPal sends DO NOT REPLY Emails but connects me to Thai link I only speak English not Thai! I have told them I only speak English but they do nothing. And is much time consumed try to reply to their message. As it does not let you reply but sends you around endless loop. Every time you click Email them, Furthermore My daughter told me last night that PayPal had charged her 2 times but NEVER refunded the second charge of $30!

And only get DO NOT REPLY Emails from PayPal. Furthermore on My reply to PaPal messages, never get 1 reply from the same person always some one new.

I would advise Every one to stay away from PayPal as they change their system to defraud customers.

Frenemies to avoid

PayPal is supposed to offer another layer of protection on top of credit card charge-backs. In reality however, they are just another Silicon Valley company with a sole focus on profit and none on reliability on customer service.

Frankly, if the retailer or website is dodgy (such as eBay which used to be the parent company of PayPal), then the outcome will end up being the same either way - a whole lot of misery for the customer.

It is much better to buy from a more reputable retailer and hand over credit card details than to buy from a dodgy retailer and hope that PayPal will protect you.
