Paystream refused to issue my P45

On the 17th March I made a request to leave my employer Paystream as I had been offered a permanent position with a different company.
I expected to receive my P45 within around two weeks, but this never arrived. In calling Paystream, apparently they forgot the conversation or chose to ignore me and on calling them back they refused to issue my P45 as I was still employed by them despite resigning weeks earlier. On the 25th March, I spoke to them again, only this time they acknowledged the conversation, but are still refusing to issue my P45. Apparently I have to wait till the end of June to receive a P60, despite the fact I have been employed by them for the six months and they have made a mistake, but of course are refusing to admit this. In the mean time I have been put onto Emergency Tax due to their mistake.
I have been in contact with HMRC and informed them that you refused to issue my P45, they have said you are wrong to do this and they will be in touch.
Paystream seem to be a cowboy outfit, who seem to forget easily and only remember things they want to remember, such as resigning in March and then forgetting the conversation took place. I kind of expected more though I was mistaken. Hopefully they will remember to issue my P60... we'll see?

As an umbrella company, we provide continuous employment across multiple assignments, we require direct instruction from yourself to end employment when an assignment finishes. Upon reviewing your record, we can confirm that we emailed you before the tax year-end to explain this and to ask you to confirm if you wished to leave. Unfortunately we didn’t hear back from you until the new tax year and under HMRC guidance, we’re unable to issue a P45 without a payment being processed in that tax year. If your tax code with your new employer appears incorrect, we advise you to contact HMRC directly on 0300 200 3300, as they determine an individual’s tax code. One of the team leaders within our Customer Care department has tried to reach out to you directly to discuss your concerns. If you have any further queries, please liaise directly with this point of contact.

Excellent Service

Just completed my annual review. Great meeting with Emma, everything was clear and easy to understand. There was no hurry and nothing was too much trouble.

Delayed reference check - Resolved

UPDATE: The reference check was done immediately after I raised a complaint and everything is sorted. Appreciate the team for getting it done.

I have been a loyal contractor with PayStream for two years, but my recent experience regarding a reference request has been appalling. I requested a simple reference check two weeks ago for a new contract, and the process has been a disaster.

They use an automated system called Konfir which is fundamentally flawed; it sends an automated email that cannot receive replies, yet neither PayStream nor Konfir seems to account for this. After waiting five days to learn the automation failed, I requested a manual reference. I am now being told the "timer resets" every time I follow up, which is a ridiculous policy when a start date is looming.

I am now at risk of losing a new contract (following a period of no work) purely due to this delay. Despite calling twice daily, the support staff are unhelpful, offering only to "pass on a message" with no actual callback or resolution. I paid a portion of my day rate for two years expecting professional service, but this is irresponsible and inefficient. I would not recommend PayStream to any contractor.

Paystream provide an excellent…

Paystream provide an excellent accountancy service for PSCs. Andrew was my assigned Accountant and he explained the entire PSC accounting process in detail during onboarding. He also setup a separate tax planning session and walked me through several options to optimise my tax affairs. Andrew is extremely helpful and is always available to answer my questions.
