One happy customer for 11 years and counting...

I happily came across Pedalworks back in 2015 when my newly acquired ebay boneshaker developed an issue when I was on my first ever off-road ride via Dunstable early one Saturday. A quick pitstop at Pedalworks and James, super-helpful, managed to fix the immediate problem in no time for a tiny fee and I went on my way grateful and impressed. It became my go-to place for bike servicing and repairs, and I needed a fair few for my 2 aged 3rd-hand hardtails. One year later, James offered some wise and helpful guidance on what I should go for next, to provide me with the confidence in my bike to expand my off-roading horizons and skills. What he recommended was not what I would have chosen, but it turned out to be absolutely perfect! I still love it, and it has enabled me to have some great adventures in bike parks, forests and rocky ranges throughout the UK, including being chased down a mountain by Rachel Atherton in the Red Bull Fox Hunt, and even riding abroad in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps, including down the World Cup run on Pila Mountain.
Brian and James (and other staff eg Harry) have always been so helpful and given excellent service and advice. I have lost count of the people I have recommended here and I see from the reviews that some have certainly benefited from the recommendation. Pedalworks have rcently taken my current 'other' bike as p/x to enable me to shift my bike repertoire and increase versatility. Such a great service! I would happily recommend Pedalworks any day of the week 😊

Simple fix gone catastrophic wrong

Dropped bike off in store for a chain link replacement/new chain. After five days called to see if bike was ready. After macanic said would be ready in 2 days. Went out on bike with son got half mile into ride chain fell off picked up chain and short walk home with disappointed son
On closer investigation looked like no work had been carried out. On returning the bike to be sorted macanic said to store manager l9oks like link was not changed
Would not recommend stay clear.

Hi Darren, Sorry to see that you are dissappointed enough to write a review like this. When you came by earlier today with the issue with the chain, the workshop stopped what it was doing and attended to you immediately..fitting a new quicklink(at our expense) and also fitting a side-stand for you.?.......I had thought you were happy with how we responded so quickly to this unexpected issue. The bike came in originally with a thrown chain for a Gear Adjust and check over...which we carried out.... and the quicklink fitting to the chain you had done yourself seemed fine on the test ride. The bike is quite new(2 weeks old) and so is the chain...so we don't replace components unless absolutely necessary. It's unfortunate that the quicklink you had fitted yourself failed afterwards..and so we addressed that today immediately. I don't think the communication was perfect here and it was not our understanding that you wanted us to fit a new chain. We don't normally accept these piecemeal jobs but wanted to help you out with a new bike you had purchased elsewhere. Unexpected problems can arise and it's how these issues are dealth with that are important I feel.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service, popped in and saw James. We went through everything I was after and decided on the bike to go for. Collected my bike a week later and very happy.

Been for a ride this morning and had a problem, phoned the shop, told to bring it straight in. Took it in and James stopped what he was doing to get me up and away asap. Faultless service from 2 lads who definitely know what that are doing.

Love their bikes, share the buzz

It was word of mouth that first took me to Pedalworks. And they weren't wrong. PW sorted out my bike fit and transformed my riding. That opened up the possibilities – the lightest climber that’s taken me over the Alps and the cobbles, as well as the local potholes, and an agile cross bike for the quiet of the trails. Nice. They’re problemsolvers. Always listening and working out what’s right for you.

Then when lockdown happened, and it was all hands to the deck, I saw that approach in action over and over – I'd been producing marketing for them for a while, but now everyone was needed on the shop floor. Keen riders (quiet roads). New riders. MTBers. The fast crowd desperate to chase down elusive kit. That’s the thing I like most about working with these guys. Doesn’t matter what journey you’re on, or where you’re at, you get the pro service. Maybe because they love their bikes and share the buzz. Can’t argue with that ;)

Thanks for the 2x services Team Pedalworks. Rolling as smoothly again as those roads around Calpe.

Great personal service throughout.

I bought a Trek road bike here 18 months ago having been to national chains previously. Well impressed by the care and advice from Brian and James. They advised I buy a bike based on what I told them I would use it for even though it was less money than the one I came to see. Took my old Trek in p/x, included a bike fit for free and sold me the pedals and shoes I needed.
I've just been back for a service and repair after 3500 miles and the care and service was exceptional.

Rude, uncouth store manager.

tried to enter the store the door was locked, he had to press some button under the desk after i tried push for >10 seconds to open.

i said goodmorning, he didnt reply, was giving dirty looks down at my bike not giving me any eye contact.

explained i had phoned up few hours earlier about a possible stretched chain on my bike with a link to be replaced, he awkwardly didnt reply for few moments and just said "is that a wheelie bike?"

i said no its not a wheelie bike, it was a singlespeed cruiser. i showed him i had replacement links for the chain and should be a small job with the right tool.
he said sorry we cant help you "we dont work on those kinds of bikes"--without consulting the technician. i think this is out of some biases that he didnt like my bike.

when i tried to leave the store the door was locked again! tried pulling it to open for another 10 seconds before he comes out behind the desk and presses the emergency to let me out.

We do welcome customer feedback as we are a store that relies on great Customer Service to promote Pedalworks to new customers across the region. We've been doing this successfully over 12 years On your first point about the magnetic lock on the door, this is the interest of security and staff safety. We have expensive bikes on the showroom floor and have had several attempted thefts which have involved aggression towards staff. I'm sorry you felt irritated by this. On your second point, we cannot attend to every request immediately and in order to fix an issue, we need to diagnose the issue first. You had come in the the store with a firm idea already of what your issue is and the resolution required. We only accept work where we can address the issues and carry out the work to the highest quality. We had never seen you or your bike before. We were trying to work out what kind of bike it is...why is the chain stretched ..too long..too short....incorrect wheel fitting??? We were genuinely puzzled by your bike and your request. You were not interested in our processes nor our appraoch to how we carry out work through our Workshop. Therefore we declined your request as we could not do what you asked.

Awful rude and judgemental staff on top…

Awful rude and judgemental staff on top of the sale of E-Scooters which we all know won’t be used on private land.

Along with others, we expected new legislation to be introduced around personal mobility including e-scooters. We stocked a small range of Walberg scooters for a time to get to know the product. After several months we dis-continued stocking e-scooters as the legislation was not on the horizon...and still isn't. On the rest of this review, we don't recognise this individual and they are not a customer.

Fantastic quick service, bike delivered a day earlier than expected....

Fantastic quick service, ordered online late on Saturday 10th July with delivery notification to be expected to be dispatched on Monday and delivery by Weds 14th July and had great nice surprise when the bike arrived on Tuesday 13th July in the morning, follow up service also great with quick responses to queries, thanks Gaetano...
Had spent over a week searching online to purchase a bike but delivery time quoted by most other bikes shops could only arrange delivery earliest within 10-14 days, some others quoted delivery by August and September!
Would highly recommend Pedalworks for anyone looking to buying bike online and looking to get on their new bike ASAP....
