Extremely Disappointed with Pep Boys…

Extremely Disappointed with Pep Boys Baldwin (Store #283)

I had a terrible experience at this Pep Boys location. I purchased two new tires in August 2023 along with the Road Hazard Warranty, which is supposed to cover repairs and replace the tire if it can't be safely repaired.

Fast forward several months later, I brought my vehicle back because one of the tires was damaged. Instead of honoring the warranty and replacing the tire, they just patched it. Not only was the patch job a temporary fix, but now the tire sensor (TPMS) on that wheel doesn’t work—something that wasn’t an issue before their repair.

I paid for the protection plan in good faith, expecting quality service and peace of mind. Instead, I got a patch, a malfunctioning sensor, and a runaround. When I contacted the store about the issue, I was met with little concern and no resolution.

If you’re thinking about trusting this location for tires or warranty coverage—don’t. They do not stand behind their work, and their lack of accountability is unacceptable. Take your car and your money somewhere that actually values customers.

Great service!

My first time coming to Pep Boys, Miles was very helpful. Todd fixed my daughter’s starter and the price was very reasonable!
I would definitely come back and highly recommend.

Avoid this Pep Boys location!

Visited the Pep Boys Auburn Blvd Citrus Heights location. Horrible experience. Had an appointment at 8:30. After about 20 minutes of my car sitting in the parking lot I asked how long my appointment was going to be. Service tech apparently wasn’t there and I was told he should be there in 10-15 minutes. Full appointment took over an hour for an oil change with a scheduled appointment. Less than a week later I broke down in a parking lot with my 3 year old grandson because of a dead battery. I was not provided this information about my battery at the time of service. I contacted the Pep Boys location to inquire about what the courtesy vehicle inspection consisted of and was informed they check fluids and tire tread and battery. My battery life was bad at the time of service and my fluids were low and not topped off which I was told is part of the service when I spoke to the manager a week later. He was extremely rude and unprofessional and hung up on me. After the call he texted me with the full details of my inspection which showed the battery needed attention. Again, this was not provided at the time of service. He did nothing to attempt to rectify the bad and incomplete service performed. I have since contacted the corporate office and am hoping someone will follow up so future customers can have a better experience at this Pep Boys location. Will also be contacting the Bureau of Automotive Repair on Monday. Someone needs to address the service being performed at this location. Off to buy a new battery!

Pep Boys Broke Their Promise, Then Blamed Us!

Me and my wife created an account at Pep Boys and made an appointment online to have our vehicle serviced on Friday, May 23rd at 11 am at 4700 Mobile Highway in Pensacola, Florida. We arrived at 10:50 am on Friday at the store. When we got to the service desk, a female employee told us that there was at least a 5 hour wait, but we kindly said we have an appointment. She said it didn't matter because they were busy. So we left without being helped.

When we got home, we found an offensive email sent to us from Pep Boys which read: “Sorry you couldn't make your recent service appointment with us — do you want to set another time?” Pep Boys wrongly accused us in the email of not showing up for the appointment, but we did show up; they were the ones who didn't show up and broke their promise! It was Pep Boys who didn't honor our appointment. What's the use of scheduling an appointment, if Pep Boys is not going to honor it? An appointment doesn't mean waiting 5 or more hours to have your vehicle serviced. We just wanted our air conditioning looked at, because it's not putting out cold air.

An appointment means being timely, not first come first serve. This is unethical. I understand that things can become busy and hectic, but at a minimum someone at the store should have called to let us know beforehand that the appointment couldn't be honored, instead of wasting our time to drive to Pep Boys just to be told we'd have to wait for 5 or more hours. That is no way to run a business. We won't be going back! We'll go somewhere else where an appointment means something.

Terrible Customer Service

I had two alignments at WEST MIFFLIN PITTSBURGH PA done on my 2011 C300 Mercedes 4MATIC in Feb 2025 not too sure of the exact dates I know one was on February 18, 2025 but not sure if that was the first or second. I had them days apart because initially I went because my rear tires were balding on the inside of the tires only, not evenly, so before I bought new tires I wanted an alignment done. After I got the initial alignment done I came back a couple of days later because the car was pulling to the right and I thought I got it fixed again. So a week ago I look at my tires and the two front tires are balding on the outside of the tires now 2 months after Ive had two alignments. I set an appointment at a different PEP BOY location (SHADYSIDE PITTSBURGH PA) last week on purpose when I get there for the morning appointment they had some machinery down for repair so they couldn’t do the alignment at that time but told me that would get me in that day after the repair, they called me at 12:30pm and told me they had to reschedule me from that day Monday April 28, 2025 to Sunday May 4, 2025 at 9:30am. When I show up for that appointment Im told that they don’t do alignments on Sundays and told to come back at 11am May 5, 2025 which I do and sit there till 2:30pm and my car is still sitting in the same parking spot since Ive been there. I say something to the clerk and he says he would take the vehicle back there himself and complete the service which he did after another 20-30 m minutes of taking care of the customers in the waiting area. I didn’t leave there until 3:30-4pm from 11am. Now I need two expensive tires when that could’ve been avoided and the overall service was terrible. I spoke to the WEST MIFFLIN location and they couldn't provide me with the notes from that service date nor did they record the second date a few days later when I came back with the same problem. I bought a 3 year alignment package back in 2023 so that's why I continued to come back. One thing when I called to get exact dates from WEST MIFFLIN for some reason they didn’t record the revisit a few days later so they gave me the Feb 18, 2025 but there was 2 dates in Feb days apart for the same service. I sent an email to pep social as well and provided photos. Thank you.

After they responded to online review they tell me someone from their Field Leadership Team would be reaching out, well that was May 7 and nobody has reached out today is May 16.

Today is JUNE 9, 2025 I havent heard anything from this company after they responded on here obviously now to make it look good. Take my money gladly but don't back up your work. Crazy these companies do their recurring customers like this.

Purchased tire from Pep Boys

Purchased tire from Pep Boys. The sales clerk said the tire was covered under warranty for 50000 miles. Fast forward, my tire was flat when I called the store, they said I do not have a roadside warranty so they can try to repair it and if it is not reparable, I will need to purchase another tire. How is this acceptable???? When I purchased the tire there was no mention of a tier of warranties or any mention of a “roadside” option. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. PEOPLE SPEND THEIR HARD OWN MONEY FOR PRODUCTS. CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE DECEIVED. THIS IS ASININE…. ###tellthetruth

Do not bring your car for AC repair to…

Do not bring your car for AC repair to this location, they assume its one thing and charge for what it really is when you come back, double charging you. They don't do a full flush to start and claim they "didn't" know which part is the problem and promise it is fixed, when it is not. Do not go here.

Customer

As a business owner we rely on great reviews. I can’t say I can give this business 5 stars. The actual business at 2500 Salem Rd gets a negative 0 However Marlan (Manager) & Eric gets 5 stars. Not honoring my confirmed appointment & leaving my car door unlocked all night in their lot made any efforts to fixing my car very dissatisfying to my spouse & I. We won’t be returning. Marlan & Eric (THANK YOU) were the only stars. *Debbie

Oil spil/fumes/fire accident

This is regarding my 2016 Chrysler 300S. The Invoice #/Work Order # is 2074969 at 1880 Buford Hwy, GA Location.

What the hell did your team do to my car? I brought it in for a simple oil change, and now it’s spewing fumes, with oil splattered all over under the hood and staining my garage floor. This isn’t just sloppy—it’s outright negligent.

I could have been in a fire because of this. Do you realize how serious that is? This kind of careless work puts lives at risk. If anything had happened to me because of your incompetence, we wouldn’t be having this conversation—you’d be hearing from lawyers.

This is unacceptable and beyond ridiculous.

I need a call back from a manager—not a rep, not an assistant, the manager—immediately.

I don’t ever want to step foot in that store again, but you’re going to fix the damage your shop caused and return my car to its original condition ASAP. No excuses, no delays.

You’ve lost my trust, and I’ll be letting everyone I know steer clear of your location. I already see the pattern of half-baked, copy-paste responses from your so-called manager on negative reviews—and I know exactly what I’d expect to read if I posted this as one. Don’t even think about replying to me with one of those.

I’m not asking anymore—I demand this gets resolved, and fast. This was absolutely careless and dangerous.

Get it together. Fix my damn car. You just project only the positive reviews on your website, you should be ashamed of it. I dare you to show the negative reviews as well. Ridiculous, because of this incident, I'm not able to travel to work. RIDICULOUS.

Do not ever go to this place

Do not ever go to this place. I went and got my car after 3 days of sitting. They are liars and scammers. Meanwhile I took my car to Mr. Tire told him what’s going on with that store. He pulled my vehicle in as soon as I got there !! They lied and said Silver Rock never reached out when I was in contact with them the whole time I knew on Tuesday at 1 PM my repairs would be covered besides the left front tire because they asked Pepboys several times to send them a video. So I called Silver Rock and let them know what they were saying and so conveniently After I talked to Silver Rock, Ray called and said at 6pm saying it was covered they just reached out. Then lied to me saying it’s being worked on But told Silver Rock they never even got the part. I clearly have proof of what Silver Rock is saying. It wouldn’t have been a problem if Pepboys’s communicated like Mr. tire did! All pep boys wants is your money they can’t even be honest and tell you the truth just say we didn’t get the part. They’re MAD that they could not get over on me. I have a husband father brothers and uncles. Pep boys preys on women and vulnerable people! It’s so convenient how silver rock called and now yall are working on the car but told silver rock it hasn’t even been touched ! Horrible customer service horrible mechanics i will never step foot in this business again. They thought I was stupid and would fall for the bs. They all stood around like the fools they are. What they don’t get it karma comes back around and they will get theirs ten fold! I don’t care how I came there REAL BUSINESS MEN WOULD RECTIFIED THE SITUATION. Josh at Mr. Tire helped me soooooo much ! Go to them if you want honesty respect and amazing customer service go there. He never asked for a dime ! Pepboys constantly told me oh you have to pay the diagnostic fee KNOWING silver rock is responsible. Ray told me Tuesday I can come get it but I’d have to pay that feel before I take the car. Mind you I recorded every single conversation even when I went to get my car. Try that lying scamming 💩 on a dummy ! Do not give these dirty clowns your money! (MONROEVILLE location)

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service. Aggressive customer service with loud profanity and aggression. Definitely not easy to work with. Immediately went to another tire place to spend my $2000. Will never be back. I will make sure everyone that I come in contact know that this is not a place to get any work done

My issues have been going on with these…

My issues have been going on with these people for 3 1/2 months period. My car has been to three different Pep Boys. My check engine light is still on. They have done nothing but past the buck to include admitting the mechanic didn’t know what he was doing. The last time I took it back to have it checked. The young lady told me it would be two weeks before they could even look at it. And if there were 14 other Pep Boys, I could go to if I wanted to. The manager finally called me Jeremiah, who told me he would credit me back over $200 For the charges that they made and did not correct. I have not seen that credit on my bill yet. This is at the Pep Boys on Stateline Road in Southhaven Mississippi. I guess they learned my phone number because I got to where they would not answer my phone calls. They have done some good work and there are some nice people at these places. But this time they blew it and will not admit their mistakes.
I did go to another store Pep Boys on Goodman Road in Southaven. That man’s name was Derek. He called a manager and told me I would be hearing from someone, but he passed me off as well. Not a very good place to do business, and won’t anymore.

Not all locations

I really enjoyed services from other Pep Boy locations. The location off Rockfish in Fayetteville NC is the worse service I have received to date. The company I purchased the vehicle from was going to pay for the services since I just bought the vehicle. I was told the squealing was out if everyones control and the brakes were at 90%. I just got the brakes done at another company, and I needed brakes and rotors. That was 800$ I had to pay for a service that the company I purchased the vehicle from. I'm not sure what prompted the bad service, politics or just laziness, but I would not refer any person that cares about their vehicle to go there.

They wont warranty their own PEP BOYS BATTERY…

They wont warranty their own PEP BOYS Battery. It has a 3 year warranty (over the counter) that says D-23. The battery states on the actual battery that is was made in February of 2023 right on the battery and the piece of garbage is dead and they will not warrant their own battery. Called customer service and they only want bank information. Why would they need BANK information? That sounds like a scam if I ever heard of one. Manny Moe & Jack are turning in their graves. What has always been my go-to for the last 45 years is now another terrible has been company. This is the Kresges or Woolworth of Tire and Auto..Never heard of Kresges or Woolworth?? That's because their awful customer service caused them to go BANKRUPT. Pepe Boys will follow suit.

Oil changes, tire changes/installations only!

I'll preface this review by saying that I only use Pepboys for oil changes, tire rotations and tire installations (my rims are already scratched up lol)

In my opinion, trusting any auto repair franchise for anything beyond that is really rolling the dice. Many of the techs don't have as much experience as I'd like. They also charge an arm and a leg; might as well take it to the stealership. I was quoted close to $1000 for brakes and rotors. I went to a mechanic and was charged $240 (I bought the parts) for the same job.

I usually take my car to the Lodi, NJ location. They are never busy and I get in and out. I've also taken it to the Hasbrouck Heights and Hackensack locations, and they are generally super busy. I have waited for well over an hour.

Pepboys has frequent deals for coupons and tires, which I like. They don't try to pressure me to make a bunch of repairs, and I like that. I've never had any issues with any of the work I've had done.
