Specifically for Clermont FL Sunrise Rd location. New owners over the years recently I think. Things changed. Just verified what I thought. SCAM. Gave me $1300 estimate for fishy stuff. Went next door to Dee Reliable nothing wrong with brakes, rotors, NOTHING.. Ceramic breaks squeak a bit normally. And did not need all those other repairs. Just got new brakes 6 months ago from Pep.and they were trying to replace one of those too. Beenna good 15 YEARS with old owners but sometimes good things END I guess. I'm a guy too .. what do they do to women??

The least trustworthy company I dealt with ever

This store is basically just a front.
They will charge you more than elsewhere, upsell you to work that you don’t actually need done.
Then they may or may not do said work (you can only find out if you go for an inspection of it elsewhere) and make it impossible for you to claim any refunds.
I don’t trust a word they say and neither should you

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE IF YOU…

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR RIMS OR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I took my Genesis here today for tire replacement. I took pictures of all 4 of my rims when drooping the vehicle off. Fast forward to when I go get it. 3 of the rims was scratched I immediately ask the manager to walk outside and take a look and before he got up he said we didn't to it. He was very augmentative. I asked him to show me the damage in my pictures of where the damage is now. He could not do it. Bottom line they do not care about protecting your vehicle during service nor do they care about you as a customer. I would stay clear of Pep Boys. I asked for the DM number but I have since found out that the manager and district manager are good friends. Very upset about this! I take very good care of my vehicle and you put trust in someone to take care of your property and they damage it, take no ownership and treat you like crap. Pep Boys located in Auburn AL

Absolutely the WORST company I’ve ever dealt with in my 49 years!

I purchased tires online and had them delivered to my local Pep Boys. Unfortunately, I mistakenly ordered the wrong size, so I immediately returned them. My local Pep Boys told me they would keep the tires, but I needed to call the main Pep Boys number to get a refund. I did exactly that as soon as I left the store, and they assured me I would be refunded.

It has now been TWO MONTHS since I purchased those tires, and I still have not received my refund. I’ve called at least six or seven times, and every time, I’m told the same nonsense:

My case has been "escalated"
They’ve assigned a case number
Someone will call me back (spoiler: no one ever does)
They repeatedly transfer me to the so-called regional director—the only person who can supposedly handle my refund—but it always goes straight to voicemail. I leave messages, and still, no one calls me back. This "regional director" is clearly beyond incompetent and should be immediately fired.

The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service at Pep Boys is staggering. I am now paying interest on tires I don’t even have because Pep Boys has failed to issue the refund I was promised. I’ve had to file a discrepancy with my credit card company, and my next step will be contacting a lawyer to seek compensation for the stress and financial burden this has caused me.

Pep Boys, this is absolutely unacceptable. FIX THIS NOW.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Here at Beverly, NJ.
Brought my car in today. Explained that to them that I replaced the O2 sensor yesterday but the car started misfiring, so i put back the old O2 sensor and I brought the car to them. They said no problem we will take care of it. After finishing the work on the car and about to pay 611$ i asked them if i can try the car before paying. They said no. You have to pay first. But if the check engine light comes back and the car starts misfiring, just bring it back and we will fix it. I paid and drove off. 15 minutes later, the engine light came back off and the car started misfiring, drove right back to PepBoys and told them what’s going on. They said we can’t look at it right now. I said can you at least put the old O2 sensor back and refund me the money, they said they can’t because the work is already completed.
I called my bank to dispute the transaction right away and now i am still waiting.
When i went back inside and told them that I called my bank, they said okay. Have a good day.
Dante the representative there was no help at all and just wants to charge you money for uncompleted job. Stay away from that Pepboys

Pep Boys does $10k damage to my car and refuse to speak to me.

A shop in Panama City, FL was hired to install a clutch in my car. It was done improperly and they were given a chance to correct the install. They charged me even more money for the wrong fix, and my transmission ended up being destroyed. I filed a claim and it was denied with Pep Boys citing "no negligence." I called their corporate office, did other reviews, and contacted them via social media. Every time they respond I get "someone will reach out to you within 24 hours." It has been over two weeks with still no response. I now have a $10k bill to pay to get my car repaired and they refuse to even speak to me. Two months of hassle because of an inept shop. For a company founded by Navy veterans, it's a shame to treat a 19 year retired vet in this manner. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Avoid Pep Boys at all costs.

They are scammers

They saw a teenager walk in and took full advantage. They reduced the bill from $1,200 to $500, only for the car to break down within minutes. They claimed they "found another issue" and wanted more money. This is a predatory cash cow operation designed to keep you coming back. They thrive on ignorance and take advantage of people. Shameful.

I went to pick up medicine for my parents I went to my car and it didn’t start right a way so I knew I needed a battery. I called Pep Boys in Paterson, New Jersey and spoke to a gentleman named Kerri. I asked how long it would take to get a battery he said an hour I didn’t have that much time because I have both my parents in wheelchairs and no one to care for them while I was gone. So Kerri asked what type and year of my car and I will get you in as soon as you get here.I will FOREVER be grateful for the service I got from them.
Thanks, Dawn Fowlie

Yesterday I wasted 3 hours and almost $700 on 4 break pads and an inspection. The inspection was $100, so please explain why 4 pads cost almost $600.... No rotor work was needed, as the pads weren't required, but recommended. The inspection was done in an hour and the breaks were estimated to take another hour... No reason to go back here. The new car dealer with the $10m shop is cheaper and quicker.

Large-scale scam operation

How are companies like this allowed to stay in business? This is a large-scale scam operation preying on unsuspecting victims. I've got an estimate at Pep Boys for a control arm repair. According to the quote, the parts are around $630 each (readily available online for $80), and the labor cost for hoisting up the car and loosening and refastening four bolts is $760. I feel so sorry for people who actually fall for these crooks.

Junk parts

Bought a caliper here which failed in three months. Brought it back in they replaced the caliper. 15 months later the caliper failed again. They refused to reimburse the cost for another company to repair it as i did not bring it into a PepBoys. (When your brakes fail and leak, you don't really have the luxury of driving to the nearest PepBoys.)

I would be very reluctant to ever buy from them again given that calipers should last much longer than a bit over a year.

Scratched Rims

First issue was I did not qualify for a rebate they promised me.

Second big issue is they scratched all 4 rims when mounting the tires. They said they did not scratch the rims but spent an hour trying to remove them with a buffing wheel and compound. They were able to lessen the appearance of the scratches on 1 rim and offered to spend more time working on the scratches, but I became worried they would strip off the clear coat on the rims so stopped them.

I will never go back to Pep Boys and could never recommend them. Be very careful if having them install new tires on your rims.

DO NOT GO HERE

DO NOT GO HERE. My daughter came into their service center and received the worst treatment. She did not get any fixes and when I tried to resolve it they threatened me with not releasing the car.

Worst - they had no idea what was wrong with her engine! And she signed a tiny window at the register but had no idea she was being charged for doing NOTHING. Again, her car is not fixed. Then they tried to charge her $700 for her jammed door lock.

Then Paul M at a store on 40605 Winchester Road, Temecula, CA 92600 today 9/24/24 HELD HER CAR HOSTAGE. Then when I question why she is being charged for nothing and Paul M flat out refused to give me the car for $60. The $60 makes sense if it is going toward the fix - but they didn't know how to fix it!

I am appalled that they didn't resolve and they said the manager is not available. And THEY THREATENED TO KEEP THE CAR.

Bait & Switch

8/20/2024. Bait and Switch Scam. Bought for expensive Tires for $1031. I was going on vacation trip that week. The store called and said my from brakes were metal on metal. gave me a price of $450 for brakes and rotors. I told them no I have a local mechanic who would do it for far less. around 250. He told me he would call back with a new price. Never did. Installed them anyway. Charged me $365. Furthermore, they never cleaned the tires when they were installed. The had sealant wax all over everything including the body of my car, rims, and tires.

I would never recommend this place to anyone!

I would never recommend the Gainesville, Florida location to anyone! My son and I were treated with disrespect and lied to several times by staff and manager Marcus. My car arrived on March 30, 2024 and sat there for two and a half months. I live in Ashtabula Ohio and my son was driving back to Tampa Florida. This was the only place available that moment which was late Saturday afternoon. My car needed a break vacuum pump which was only to take a day or two to fix. They told him it would be fixed the next week. Each time my son and I called we were put on hold by Jamie which she never returned, passing the buck to someone else. When we were able to talk to someone and asked for Marcus, he was always conveniently busy, never returning calls. Marcus then blamed my son for the delay in part order stating he gave them the wrong part number. Aren’t they the professionals?? My son knows nothing about cars. I have never been treated so poorly with crappy customer service and the run around. I decided enough was enough and called the corporate office, oh and Marcus called the next day to tell me a bunch of crap still blaming my son. They never took accountability for their actions. Because of this I had my car transported back to Ashtabula Ohio and cost me 750.00. When my car arrived at my mechanic’s, there were several parts in the back seat of the car as my mechanic stated he didn’t know why there were so many parts taken off. Oh and my car arrived with the battery missing!!! My mechanic called Gainesville Florida location and asked Marcus what he was going to do, Marcus agreed to have my mechanic order the battery and email the bill to him. My mechanic forwarded me Marcus’s email, sent him the email and never responded. I called him back , received the correct email, they have all my information including the bill with the battery included. Two weeks went by, never received a call as he was supposed to call before sending me the reimbursement check, never came. Sent Marcus an email stating my next move was to call corporate, he responded and passed it on to someone else. Decided to call corporate again to complain. Corporate was supposed to call me back and resolve the issue, it’s been over three weeks and no phone call or communication efforts from them!! Worst company ever!! If there was a zero rating possible that’s all they deserve!!
