Attempted scam in Canada too!

I also got a scam email about paying to ensure my pet's info remained accessible in the database. I was waiting until our next vet visit to ask about it, but due to my "inbox zero" mentality, I decided to look them up. Super glad I did, and I'll warn my vet's office too. I would really like to know where the breach is! Is this a local thing, or international? We adopted our pet from the SPCA and petchip.info had her previous shelter name.

Scam

Demand payment to renew pets microchip else the pet will show as "unregistered".

It's worrying how much information that have about me and my cat. There must be a data breach somewhere

We got several of our pets microchipped…

We got several of our pets microchipped and it was costly. Now several years later I get a email that her chip# will not longer be associated with me. Basically owner unknown, unless we pay a fee. I thoughtbit was a lifetime initial registration. Plus the email doesn't state hoe long the the payment is for . A true lifetime, a year, monthly. No I did not pay it. Felt it was a scam.

Do I need to pay?

I received an email stating that I needed to pay to keep my pet registered. Although my other pet has had no such information provided to me. Do I have to pay? I thought it was free.

This company is a total scam

This company is a total scam. Concerned that they had so much information in the email that makes it look genuine (clearly a data breach has occured). Don't be caught out. I spoke to the company that holds my cat's registration and it is still active.
I have reported this company to action fraud and forwarded the email to report phishing at UK government.

BEWARE PETCHIP ARE SCAMMERS…

Just received an email stating my dog's microchip needed to be reregistered. I contacted her registered microchip company who said it was for life and all was OK. Petchip are obviously scammers and I have reported the email but still got quite a fright.

SCAM -massive data breach at PETLOG

I rec’d an email saying my dogs chip is ‘unregistered’ I got 2 dogs from the same litter so thought it was strange - rang the chip company they told me it was a scam!! If I didn’t have 2 dogs I wouldn’t of questioned it

Please people contact PETLOG and tell them there must of been a massive DATA breach as they must of got our pets chip details from a database and it has to be the people the chip details are registered to!! They have ALL our personal details as well as all our pets details - MASSIVE breach of GDPR!!!

Petchip are scammers

I "registered" my dog for £18. A year later they took another £18. I did some investigating and found that she was registered with petchip but not on any UK data base, I managed to put a block on any further payments.

Rec'd an email today telling me "DIESEL's microchip number 985121014914431 will soon display "unregistered animal" in all of our affiliated websites and databases."

Sadly our much loved akita DIED several years ago so I will not be paying any fee to reactivate his microchip.

A google search produced four entries about this scam.
