Quick and Smooth Transaction
Had an easy time filling in personal details that carried over to multiple claims and then just taking photos of the receipt and the items for each claim. Maggie was very helpful in assisting me through the process and approving my tax refund!

Exceptional Service from Customer Service Dept
I experienced a few problems trying to complete the details on the app whilst on holiday with a couple of answers not registering so I could not progress. So I contacted Customer Services and the response was swift with exceptional service given to me by Maggie who was so helpful.

Way more complicated than a tax refund…
Way more complicated than a tax refund should be.
We did not succeed in claiming our refund with this system which requires a lot effort and pictures. All this is done within minutes with other systems which allow you to claim your tax refund by simply filling out a form and presenting your items when leaving the country.
To the point where we now actively look for shops that offer Global Blue (e.g.) rather than PIE VAT

Not able to get custom stamp at GOT airport as info counter who manages the stamping refuses to stamp for pie vat. Bad processing. Will not recommend using

Customer Service really helped
I had some trouble initially working through the PieVAT software, but one of their Customer Service people, Maggie, gave excellent advice. With that input, the application process was fast and efficient.
One disappointing thing I learned was that not all the merchants I used were part of this system. I hope more shops learn how this system simplifies the process for their customers.

Won't erase your data in 7 years
Maybe not the app's fault, I have not informed myself properly yet, but when I tried to exercise my right to be forgotten, this is the answer I got (below). For a service that requires so much sensitive information (picture, passport, place of residence, bank details even), this does not make me trust them at all.

Thank you for reaching out under GDPR's Right to Erasure. As we are a regulated service, we are required to store information for up to seven years in case of possible audits - therefore, we are unable to erase any of our users' information when they are still under government audit potential.
We treat data protection seriously. We perform regular vulnerability assessments on all systems against known risks in information security. We also employ industry standard practices when storing and handling data internally. We are committed to the continued hardening of our security.
If you wish for your account to be automatically deleted in 7 years, kindly let me know and we will make sure to register your request.

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to provide your valuable review and feedback. We would like to offer further clarification regarding why it is essential and legally required for us to retain this data for a period of time.
Our operations are conducted within the tax-free sector, necessitating collaboration with tax authorities in the regions where we operate. As such, authorities are entitled to conduct audits from time to time, and we will be required to turn over certain information about tax free purchases (including what we collect through the Pie process).

We however agree with you that we need to make these GDPR/Audit conditions imposed by the tax authorities more clear to our users and your feedback has been shared with our team which is currently working on improving it.
