MONEY GRAB ALERT

This is a MONEY GRAB ALERT! Pikzels is simply not worth it. Use ChatGPT instead for your YouTube thumbnails.

If you are in any way involved in YouTube content creation, undoubtedly you've heard of Pikzels. When I started out with my YouTube journey on December 31st, 2024, I quickly realized how difficult it is to create a YouTube thumbnail manually. So I was really excited to try out Pikzels AI, which promised attention-grabbing thumbnails, which are arguably the most important part of your YouTube success. And for a while it actually worked pretty well and it had some really interesting features like FaceSwap.

The money grab part comes in where you have to keep paying for your Pikzels subscription and the included credits do not roll over from month to month. They recently started offering an option that for one lump sum they will make sure that your credits roll over from month to month. So I paid a little over $350 to take that option. I paused my subscription, thinking that first I will use up all of the rolled over credits. Apparently that's not possible so you have to actually maintain your membership and pay the one-time fee to get your credits rolled over. Buyer beware. Read the terms of service before you get excited and spend the money on any service that you buy.

The biggest problem, however, is that Pikzels right now doesn't perform nearly as well as ChatGPT.

The quality is definitely poor, with all of the new features that don't seem to work nearly as well as they have previously. It seems like they designed the system to generate poor-quality thumbnails so that you burn through your credits more and more while doing revision after revision, which gets just marginally better, then worse again. This is kind of like playing a slot machine where you never know how close you will come to hitting the jackpot. So I contacted Pikzels and received basically a series of stone wall responses. They said yes, our service is better than ChatGPT for these reasons and yes, your credits will be available to you but you have to reactivate your subscription. And no we can't give you a new refund because it's been over 24 hours and you've already tried using what you paid for. So I go to resubscribe only to find out that I used to pay $28 a month and now the service costs $50 a month. I asked to be reinstated at $28 a month but they said that's also not possible.

So at this point they will not work with me to make this right. My recourse is to contact my bank and put the word out there that Pikzels is not there to help you but to take as much advantage of you as they possibly can. This has been my experience.

After reading other 1-star reviews, I would like to CONFIRM that my experience matches most of what others have experienced - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and deceptive marketing practices. The results are UNUSABLE GARBAGE.

Reply from Pikzels

Hey Sviatoslav,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience in detail. I want to address the points you've raised.

On credit rollover: Pikzels is a subscription-based platform, and the rollover feature requires an active subscription to work. It's clearly stated in the terms that generations and credits can only be utilized with an active subscription. When you pause, the rollover benefit pauses with it.

On pricing: our pricing hasn't changed. The $28/month rate is still available on annual billing. It sounds like you may be comparing different plan tiers or billing cycles, but the structure you had access to before is still available.

On quality and features: Pikzels is purpose-built for YouTube thumbnails with features like Pikzels Score, One-Click Fix, Personas, Styles, and thumbnail-specific training data that general AI tools don't offer. ChatGPT is a powerful general-purpose tool, but it's solving a different problem. Quality varies based on model selection and prompt clarity, but there's no mechanism designed to degrade outputs or force revisions. That's not our business model, and frankly, the more credits you burn through on revisions, the higher our costs and the less value you're getting from the platform.

On the refund: our policy is clearly outlined on our website and in our terms of service. Subscriptions become non-refundable once a substantial amount of credits have been used, and we apply this uniformly across all accounts.

We've reached out to you via Trustpilot to get your account details so we can review your case and support interactions in full.

Best regards,
Nick from Pikzels
