I have bought Scalenut from PG and I was having hard time to figure out how to pull things together. Just then I dropped a message in relevant chat seeking some help.

These guys do a great job of getting their SAAS founders to educate customers on the benefits of their service which is a great approach to determine if the founder leadership has what it takes to survive the startup phase

PitchGround has been active for 3 years, and I have kept them on my radar since almost exactly two years: my dashboard tells me I’ve created my account with them on 28 October 2019. So I am writing this two days before our second 'anniversary'.

The market for ‘Lifetime Deals’ is very specific. Some products are under-developed or even quite unfinished upon release. Others can get abandoned down the road if they can’t reach viability. What makes PitchGround special to me is that they appear to perform due diligence, and keep the number of ‘abandoned’ deals to a minimum.

Here is an example with my own hit/miss ratio.

Out of the 7 deals I have purchased so far (most of those either fully stacked, or with several codes), I use 3 daily and 2 more less frequently, but still regularly.

I have shelved 1 (it works fine but I am not using it because my efforts are directed elsewhere). Also, I have another one which has seen no development in the past year; some of its features that used to work are now broken.

I would say that this is a quite good success rate. It tells me that PitchGround does a good job vetting the deals they put up for offer. Especially during the last year, they have picked up speed noticeably.

Every other week or so, I find one or more new interesting bits of software to check out. If this trend continues, I see myself buying more software from them in the future.

What I really like is how the refund system works. Very often, asking for a refund is a long and involved task that requires contacting support and explaining yourself. I understand why such procedures exist — arranging a credit card refund incurs non-recoverable costs to the seller, and some sellers try to discourage buyers from refunding — but PG handles refunds automatically and processes them instantly.

I can choose to have the money returned to my card or sent to my PG wallet. When I do the latter, the funds are immediately available to be spent towards my next purchase. The way this procedure works, it shows PG puts a lot of trust in their customers, which I find admirable.

Company owner Udit Goenka is very active in the Facebook community, which is another thing to appreciate. I have witnessed situations where a deal initially arrives with unfavorable limits, only to have them improved after discussion between the community, PitchGround, and the SaaS author. This is the cooperation that I like to see.

As I am writing this, I realize there is nothing particularly outstanding about anything I’ve said about the company so far. It is how a good company is supposed to operate.

But when reading this, one must understand how specific the LTD market is. These are not always complete products; and often the teams behind them are tiny. Unlike popular software with a long history, some of these deals might never make it big time; some others might get discontinued and shut down.

There is a huge potential for frustration and disappointment with software that doesn't work as advertised, developers that don't take responsibility to fix it, and intermediaries that don't care once they have taken the money from the sale.

That is why the environment which PG has cultivated is so important. Making efforts to screen publishers, and maintaining transparency and open communication channels between LTD buyers and developers during the time these deals spend on PG website helps those products grow and improve, and allows users to get better value for their money, which makes buying with confidence easier.

And this brings me to my ultimate point about PitchGround: over the past three years, it has become a good place to come looking for inexpensive tools that have the potential to improve my workflow, save me time and/or make me more productive. During the time I've known and used their services, PG have strived to grow and improve, and deserve my recommendation.
