Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 410 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the website to be a horrible dating site, especially since it changed owners, and felt it was a waste of time and money due to numerous fake profiles and misleading practices. People frequently encountered issues with the subscription model, describing it as having hidden charges and an inability to cancel automatic renewals. The user experience was often criticized for being buggy, with messages disappearing and a general lack of functionality that made connecting with others difficult. Some people were dissatisfied with the social media aspect, noting that many profiles were inactive or filled with generic, unappealing content, and that the platform did not effectively filter out users who were not genuinely interested in connecting. The pricing was also a common point of contention, with many feeling that the costs were excessive for the poor quality of service and that the site used misleading offers.

About Plenty of Fish Dating

Written by the company

Logo

The Plenty of Fish story begins all the way back in the distant year of 2003 when it laid down its roots as the first free online dating site. POF believes that building a community where people feel free to be themselves, helps create the most meaningful connections. Every day, Plenty of Fish helps people find their blanket thief, Ikea sherpa, personal spider hunter…you get the point.

POF has always been true to itself, allowing members to choose their own path to connection on the app and matching members based on the things that ultimately make for real, long-lasting love. That’s why Plenty of Fish was the first dating app to ditch face filters. People can feel free to just be themselves. No pressure, just real connections.

I’m a good looking dude

I’m a good looking dude. You get totally blocked on free mode for sure. You can never see any likes or matches, they want at least 20 bucks for a reveal. Absolute scammers

This site used to kinda work

This site used to kinda work. Now I've been on here a year and nothing. No response not one message. I pay for the extra premium s and I get one text per day. But bit days unlimited. Thank means more than one. This site needs to come down it keeps charging my card and no one answers.still no messages but still charging my bank after I canceled membership. Who do I call? Any one else experience the same thing with these guys and oh I can't text anybody either on the site unless u pay like 200 bucks. I could just do the other thing for that price.

Plenty of Fishy...

I signed up over a year ago and quickly figured out it was a scam site and bolted without too much damage. Got an email out of the blue today saying "Someone wants to meet you!" so I figured, what the heck. I clicked the link and a face popped up for about a second before it was replaced with a screen laying out the pricing. No free options, like letting me at least have a peek at her profile. She is interested in me right? Is she nearby? Do we have anything in common? Is she a he??? Obviously a blatant, shameless and boldly sleazy scam tactic. What kind of business model are they following? There wasn't even a low priced, introductory level or a short-term plan. The bottom tier is three months with the "benefit" of being able to message back. So for 60 bucks I can find out she lives 1000 miles away, has an open relationship with her "fiancee" and her pics are from 10 years and three kids ago... probably. Who knows? I certainly don't care to find out. I tossed this one back into the sewer...

so far.. eehhhh..

so far, ehhh.... it has more realistic people than on other sites. still some fake profiles. it has the location of the person of where they are from at top which is good so you dont have to go through the whole profile to see where they are from. it does have "no nudes" and verification if you want it ( I would recommend it) / like others.. if you dont pay extra they hide or bury your profile to where it cant be seen.

The product is ok but the customer…

The product is ok but the customer service might be the worst I have ever seen in all my life.
They used to have a phone number to call but not anymore.
You have to e-mail and the response is 24 to 72 hours.
The responses are just generic responses basically saying you paid and we could not care less now that we have your money.
Simply put, it is Pathetic.
Tried to upgrade so the site might work ok because what they call premium is not premium it's basic, rip off.
Tried to upgrade just so the site is useful but I cannot even upgrade.
Get this, they want you to upgrade so they offer this
Buy the prestige which supposedly works. So you pay twice and they will credit your premium purchase sometime in 30 days.
What a disaster, complete joke

118 views and not one possibility, even just conversation without immediate WhatsApp pushing.

After 8 days I canceled a 30 day 29.95 subscription having already tried the 20 email for $24.99 with no success. I got 118 views and 4 short conversations. One account disappeared. Two others only wanted me to go on WhatsApp or bye bye.
Now the fourth was really interesting. This profile with 3 picture's says she is looking for good conversation and she made friends the first day. Well its the same exact profile 10 years ago that did the same exact thing. We made good conversation 10 years ago that led nowhere and she did not try and lead me off site and I didn't care to talk to her again this time.
I verified my account that didn't help. I showed 16 pics then reduced to 8 that I am finically secure and wrote a bio of a few paragraphs.
Most of the woman's profiles are empty and the pics are old.
The one profile that tried to push me into WhatsApp I said to her you could post a full body pic in less than a minute for she had only 4 head shots that looked professional and she said bye...lol

Why did I try it again after 10 years? Well, I have a friend who married a guy she met on POF and they are still together so miracles do happen but maybe only once every thousand years.

Rude people

Rude people.

I have no idea what the men are like but the women have no qualms talking to men like they're dirt

God forbid you spell their name wrong or shorten their name when you message them and don't use their full name as they,ll go crazy at you.. I'm not staying on there to be spoken to like that

I can't imagine they would act like this in the real life or maybe they do and that's why they are single

What's the point in a POF Plus membership? I paid almost $50 bucks and still have to pay additional money to just send someone a message! What a bunch of crap and just another SCAM ripoff.

It's a website full of negativity

It's a website full of negativity, entitlement and time-wasters. Plenty of ego on show but no humility. Sums the world up perfectly in 2025...

Because it costs nothing to join the folks on there don't take it seriously and are on there taking unrealistic shots, making ridiculous demands from a guy that would even make Megan Fox blush.

The funny thing is how extremely stuck up they all are, I don't know why as they certainly have nothing to act superior about.

The default settings on there seem to be rudeness coupled with unrealistic expectations.

GL. you'll need it

At least it was free

No stars

There's way too many fake profiles.

None of women on POF have aged well and they all look a lot older than what they claim to be. There are Lots of tattoos on show. They all seem to wear large glasses. Nearly all are divorced/separated with lots of children knocking about.
Most seem out of condition as well, Not to mention they are extremely picky and don't seem to have have any class or act in a feminine way

This might be the worst site I've ever been on

The Findom Experice, GIVE ME YOUR WALLET!

So when you start on the app you are given 1 free message to whichever user you want. You can continue messaging this person if they reply back to you which is fair so you are not harassing someone who is not interested in you.

1 week $29.99 for unlimited contacts and other features. If you want first contacts, meaning you can contact other members once until they reply back to you, then it’s $1.25 each for 20, $2.00 for 10, or $5.00 for 3 and this is just for contacting, not other features.

It’s not a cheap dating or making friends website. For me I just want to find and make friends in my area and I hate Facebook and all things connected to Meta. I am also not a fan of TikTok and a lot of other social networks. I just don’t like having complete strangers spam the living hell out of me or ask me to friend them when I have no damn clue who they are and some of them I know but never speak to me in real life, so just why?

So basically POF is no different than a Findom asking you for your wallet! If you like to empty your wallet hoping to get something which will most likely end up in nothing, GO FOR IT!

The app and website are awful

The app and website are awful. I keep getting logged me out every few minutes and it demands that I put in my phone number for verification each time.

When I do get on all I see are lots of selfies in public toilets and plenty of them saying how much they love tattoos and how they're getting more. Talk about no class

Plenty of women on there but not many ladies.

App is absolute trash

App is absolute trash , Full of fake profiles and everything's behind pay walls. Then matches you with people that may as well be on Jupiter.

eg: I can set to search for people withing 10-20 miles of me with specific criteria, no smoking etc , hit search and it automatically defaults it to 150 miles and everybody and anybody

It's not that they're plain/average…

It's not that they're plain/average looking it's that the fact they are just SO rude and entitled. They think they can be picky and act like they're Sydney Sweeney.

This sums the site up. A female in her 40s. Has children and doesn't drive
Her account has a list of 10 boxes which you must tick just to message her. It was just embarrassing . Only on POF could you make such ridiculous demands. Can you imagine doing this in real life??

The app is trash and keeps logging you out. I took the hint and logged out for good

Plenty of drama more like

I go the gym , don't smoke and don't want children. I put this on my bio yet nobody read it

All I got were single mums, women that don't exercise and those who smoke, messaging me.
Why would I want to date any of those?

If you see anyone okay you can guarantee they'll have kids. It's a website for those with broken families. Most have children and didn't even bother to get married.

This dating website was great before…

This dating website was great before being purchased by MatchGroup. It is absolutely terrible and I would never recommend it to anyone. They use fake profiles. For example, one gets a ton of "interests" that you can only see if you purchase an overpriced subscription. Then you a few chats but these profiles never answer. Why would they contact me in the first place if they are not interested in an answer? Because they are fake and trying to get dumb guys to subscribe. This is the same as all Dating sites owned by MatchGroup. This Plenty of Fish website is a complete scam (MatchGroup is responsible for screwing it up). In fact, MatchGroup should be investigated by the FBI for fraud and their CEOs sent to jail.

it's just full of weirdos.. They're all cuckoo for cocoa puffs on there
