I was surprised to see so many bad reviews because my experiences with PRA have always been positive. The debt is mine, historic or not, and remains my liability. I recently approached PRA to amend my agreement to a lower figure due to the current cost of living crisis. My email was responded to and my proposal accepted within 6 hours.

Pra group owe me money. I called on 26th May was told refund issued and would receive email. 4 days later no email so called back to be told it hasn't been done and will have to do it again. Its now been 5 days since then and still no refund. Complaint raised but not upheld by manager as apparently it was sorted out on my first call, if that's the case it's been 9 days and I still haven't received payment. They also didn't notify me I was owed money. I am going to escalate to FCA whatever you do don't pay them money they are lying scammers

Having requested supporting information for a debt and receiving confirmation that the debt was unenforceable, I let PRA Group know that I will not be in communication with them until they can provide some evidence that the debt is enforceable. Since that moment, I have had an auto dialler phone call from them every single day for over a year requesting a call back. If this is not harassment, I don't know what is. I have blocked their number but that does not stop the auto dialler call leaving countless voicemails.
I think the other reviews on here (not including the obvious glowing 5 star reviews put up by PRA themselves) show a very clear pattern of a business using underhanded tactics to exploit and pressure people who find themselves in financial difficulties.
I will not be in touch about my "experience" in some covert way to get on to the topic of the unenforceable debt which I have made myself quite clear about. I would simply like the phone calls to stop and for you to only contact me should you have new information relating to any money owed.

PRA Group Debt Collectors is an out right fraud as my successful court case has proven. The judge took a very dim view of PRA Group's tactics and threw the case out because PRA Group perjured themselves in court by providing a fake reconstituted Default Notice which was sloppy of them because they forgot to remove the second and different date of default because they were using someone else's Default Notice which had the wrong dates. This is a common practice.
Forged Notice of Default.
Incorrect Particulars of Claim, including the alleged debt being owed to the wrong bank. Just frankly moronic and deceptive behaviour that was met with little tolerance in court.
Therefore include: Fraudulent demand for payment whilst having no legal title to the alleged debt.
INCESSANT AND AT TIMES LATE DAILY CALLS TRYING TO ENFORCE A DEBT THEY HAVE NO LEGAL TITLE TOO.
I decided to stop paying for my own mental torture and distress, I had family issues with my elderly mother being in palliative care. They then had the stupidity to take me to court...
So firstly, demand PRA Group supply you with the Original Consumer Credit Agreement and Default Notice. They have strict deadline within which to respond, with their loosey goosey approach to business you might even get fortunate at this stage and they fail to meet the time requirements set out in the 1974 CCA.
Without these LEGAL documents meeting the terms of the 1974 Consumer Credit Act is impossible.
Seek a good Solicitors advice.
I used Joanna Connolly Solicitors and I can't rate then highly enough once they explained the business model that debt "companies" like PRA Group employ. They beat PRA Group in court regularly because PRA Group are not acting legally.
PRA Group's business model:
They bulk buy 000’s of bank debt for pennies in the pound and then pursue the creditors for the full amount by using intimidation methods like daily phone calls all whilst typically not having the legal title to enforce the debt. They’re like financial parasite.
So again seek legal advice.
If PRA contact me I will issue them with a cease and desist notice.

Just beginning to try and gain a full and final settlement figures. They have ignored what i have said I could afford and sent me something nearly 4 times higher. Whereas I know that my offer may be too low to just completely ignore it and what i was saying is dam rude. I may be able to negotiate it better have replied back lets just see but reading this doesn't give me much hope.

My initial debt was over £5000. I was paying £60 a month and now £70 I pay without any issues.. I am not down to just over £3400 I believe. End of April I am going to lose my job. I have told them I will have £1700 spare asked if they would consider it as a settlement offer, otherwise I will be paying £5 a month for years and years but they said no. They are already In good profit off me due to the price they paid for my debt but still they won't accept it. If they accepted it they would have had over 50% of the debt. On paper they say they will help but greed is what they thrive on

Harassing. When I am paying them they still leave me millions of voicemails.

I’ve been harassed for over 10years totally ridiculous and annoying

We are victims of provident (doorstep loans) tactics, but we are unable to have our debt written off or seek compensation like thousands of others are.
This is because PRA GROUP bought our debt off provident so we're not entitled have our debt written off or seek compensation for the way our family were left destitute.
An experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.
So if you are a customer of the provident and they haven't sold your debt to PRA GROUP yet.
Then this is for you:
The FCA, Provident’s regulator, said it did not approve of the Scheme. But as Provident has stopped providing doorstep loans, the FCA did not object to the Scheme in court.
4 million previous Provident, Satsuma, Greenwoods and Glo customers can now make a claim to the Provident Scheme. These claims have to be made before the end of February 2022.
You may have paid your loans on time but they may still have been “unaffordable” if you had to borrow more money or refinance your loan.
Only £50million is available in the Scheme, so you won’t get a full refund. But you may still get hundreds of pounds and your credit record cleaned.

Little bit frustrated. Was recently offered a partial settlement which I wasn’t able to do at that time. However came back to them a couple months later and said I could now do it. Except the offer had ‘expired’. The guy I spoke to didn’t even try and help or negotiate something with me. Basically just said goodbye and that was it. A shame as I had previously found PRA really helpful and it’ll just mean the money I had available will go to another creditor and PRA will continue to receive nothing which makes no sense.

You have harassed me for 10 years! Im no longer angry though as its quite funny you dont get the messsge. You are like an ex partner who cant accept its over. I have sent you letters to deny any knowledge of a debt in my name which i do not recognise, I have never recieved a default notice or entered into any such agreement with yourselves. I also requested you sent me my data file and cease contacting me via phone and text. Dispite this you still call and text me.
I have reported you to the FCA and ICO yet you still call and text me.
Maybe I will just report you to the police for harassment. Here's to the next 10 years you absolute wasters.

Surprised by some of these reviews. I have had some dealings with PRA group recently who have been nothing but helpful, empathetic and patient. Yes, they do phone you and send letters, but if you just take a few minutes out of your day to log in to your online account and send them a message or give them a call, they will help you and are ready to listen. They will never force you to pay what you cannot afford and I managed to negotiate a settlement on the debt I had to pay it off sooner.
These companies are not that scary - since the financial crash in 2008/2009, they really are not allowed to be as regulations have changed. If you are getting letters, phone calls etc, it really will benefit you to just take the time to deal with it. Nobody here is judgemental or going to bite your head off.

This company hounded my partner for over 12 months, just endless phone calls, after I told them all contact was to be by letter, they then proceeded to send endless threatening letters.Using the template letter, which is on Martin's Money site, asking who the debt was with etc, they sent a contract that had been signed by my partner for a store card, which she never had,but it was 20 years old. After writing to them explaining that the statute of limitations on this sort of debt was 6 years, they replied saying the debt was now "statute bound" meaning they could not now try and reclaim it,and was now closed.Strangely for a financial debt recovery company, you would have thought they would have known from day one that this was an unenforceable debt, but no they would rather keep fishing for the poor unfortunate who gets scared into paying,as my partner would if I had not helped her.Shysters and legalised robbery,If you owe money to a company legitimately, then yes that debt should be paid in a reasonable time but not by fear and upset and constant phone calls at all hours with no explaination in full from the start.

I am surprised by what people write here. me I deal with Pra Group. they do all to help you. you have debt you must pay it this is sure. but they will discuss with you and you pay only what you can. sometimes you can not pay so they put your account in hold. they review your situation every 6 months. so me I did not see anything of what people write here. only one thing I don't like in Pra is that they call u Saturday early morning. I worked 7 days week to pay my debt. today my first Saturday off to sleep and rest bit but they wake up me at 8 am. I hope they will think about this and change it. but other than this I found them they help and support.

Shadey company.
They put defaults on your credit file and try to extort money from you. 8 months later and still answers to my issues, had to finally speak to the ombudsman. Probably end up in court. If you hear from them just ignore them and report it straight to the FCA.

Reply from PRA Group UK
You write them a letter and they don't even read it properly . They buy a £10000 debt of a company you owe and they purchase the debt for approx £1000
So you think you will owe them £1000? Wrong they chase you for the full £10000 debt. Like leeches they bleed you dry just to make money off poor people.
My friend made them an offer to pay off the debt about 10% but they refused even though he told them the debt was having a detrimental affect on his mental health. he killed himself shortly after they refused his offer. Now they won't get a penny.
