Pretty Close to a Scam
Update--Prose did give me a full refund for the order. Agree with all previous reviews. First off, the very expensive product did nothing for my menopausal hair. Secondly, I was just informed that three months after receiving my products, I am being charged $136 for a resupply. I had already cancelled my subscription; they gave me no advance notice of the refill; and now they won’t cancel the order. I am really angry, and feel very taken advantage of. This is a bad company. I would caution anyone not to buy to their products, despite all the incentives.
Unresponsive to shipping issue
I ordered this product in early June. It was sent the last day of June and returned to sender due to insufficient address (which doesn't make sense, as address was my correct address). It has been returned to sender. In the meantime, I have since moved (July 14) and need to update my address. I've reached out to Prose twice w/o any response. I will be disputing charges if I do not receive a response by 7/18/25.
Don't fall for the hype!
I placed my original order on 6/12/2025. As of today, I still have not received my very expensive order. I reached out to their service department who investigated and stated that my order was lost somewhere between DHL and USPS. A reorder was placed. And in looking at the tracking info and shipping notification sent, it's going to the WRONG ADDRESS. In the meantime, they wanted me to review and approve the subscription (second shipment) for a product I have yet been able to try? Um.. no thanks, you couldn't even get the first and reorder of the first correct, I have no interest in keeping an ongoing relationship with this business! WOW.
Agree don’t buy!
Agree, I recently got what I ordered and they’re sending another shipment that I did NOT order. I will contact BBB and complain! Deceptive marketing!
I like the products, not the business
I like the products, but the business is crap. No notification before charging my card & sending products early. “Order processed” notifications go out in the middle of the night on weekends. No way to speak with a real person. Takes days to get an email reply.
Just don’t bother
Dodo not buy from them
Do not buy from them! I ordered a fragrance-free conditioner and there was tons of fragrances in it that caused me to have an allergic reaction. I contacted them and they were no help whatsoever. Also you can't leave a review on their website. So you're stuck with their product basically. And they're not cheap. Do not buy from
Protect your bank account or credit card
If I could get a way to give negative stars I would. The product itself is good. I don’t get 2nd day great hair with the hair mask, shampoo, conditioner and hair supplement. My complaint is that only after having this stuff for a week and not having a subscription, I was randomly charged $60 which overdrafted my account for another $25. I sent email and next thing I get is the product shipped. I want them to explain this and reimburse me for all bank charges and postage to return. Unfortunately when I try to reply to my original email it says undeliverable. I’m scared these people have access to my bank account and could continue to do this.
They barely deserve one star
They barely deserve one star. the products are just OK. They are a predatory bait and switch subscription service. They charged me almost $500 for products I did not order. Buyer beware.
I ordered May 28th
I ordered May 28th. It’s now 6-1-25 I still haven’t gotten the product I emailed them and no response. Then 2 days ago they said they were sending me more I emailed them again told them I haven’t gotten my order please don’t send me anything else, it was sent and charged. I then cancelled all orders and removed my credit card from the account. At this point after reading all the reviews I’ll be luck if they just don’t charge any more. I’ve paid over a $100 and received nothing please if I can help anyone DON’T BUY PROSE. it’s not worth the hassle
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE
40% of the reviews I have read here are for the same issue I have. You ask them to not ship any additional product and they keep sending it. I now have 1/2 of my first shipment and they have since shipped two more shipments of product even when I pushed out when I wanted the next shipped and then another when I cancelled my subscription. The very same thing happened to my daughter when she cancelled her subscription. They do not have a phone number to call ad discuss with customer service. As a result I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I encourage others to do so. These people have to stop with their deceptive practices.
It’s a scam
It’s a scam. Even if you only sign up for a one time purchase they charge you for more. You can’t get a hold of them, their email responses are incoherent while they pretend they don’t understand. Don’t do it!
I agree, it’s a scam that makes your hair SO unhealthy. False claims.
Unfortunately the aggressive marketing got me. I tried Prose and used it for two months. I have so much regret. My hair has never gotten oilier quicker, nor been as dry and brittle. It’s broken so much I’m devastated at the results and only wish I stopped using it sooner. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN. Also reached out to customer service over a week ago with no response. I agree with the previous comments, I think it’s a scam.
Rely on ads and play on numbers game
The amount of commercial I see on this company is atrocious. Based on the rating I would say their strategy is just slam people with commercials and don't actually care about their products. If one person try it, that's one win for them and they don't care if you have good or bad things to say. Numbers game it is! Just based on how they don't care and just advertise, I will never be a customer.
Deceptive, overpriced, cheat the customer
I am in agreement with all the concerns. They give you a date to cancel before they will ship the next package. Conveniently, they charge your credit card and shop the next order before that date. They sent me face care that I did not order either. They sent products are outrageously expensive for what you are getting. It is a BIG scam!
Not Worth the Money
I have been using prose a few months now (shampoo, conditioner, mask). I told them about my greasy roots, dry ends, tendency to poof, and light coloring. I started using prose, and I have been getting breakouts on my scalp and hairline. My hair is in general duller and more greasy. Ugh. The mask is nice, but the shampoo/conditioner I am giving up on. This is also waaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive to keep experimenting with. No thanks, I'll go back to my rice water shampoo bars.
Reversed Refund and Charged Me Twice After Canceling
I canceled my Prose subscriptions months ago and was charged anyway. After multiple emails, they issued a refund and confirmed cancellation. Then my bank confirmed that Prose reversed the refund, let the charge post, and charged me again the next day. Now I have two charges for products I didn’t want or authorize.
They don’t offer phone support, just slow email replies. I had to file FTC and NY Attorney General complaints. Keep an eye on your account if you use them—or better yet, don’t.
Just save you’re self the headache, don’t bother
I was disappointed when my order finally arrived, as it was damaged and the $50 hair mask had spilled all over the box. I reached out via email to report the issue, but unfortunately, I did not receive a response.
To make matters worse, a week later I was billed a second time for hair supplements, despite already having two bottles from my previous order. When I tried to communicate with customer service, I found their platform to be quite cumbersome. There’s no easy way to cancel or speak directly with a representative; instead, you have to gather all your information, submit an email, and then wait for a response.
Overall, my experience has been frustrating due to the lack of communication and poor service. I would recommend saving yourself the heartache—think twice before signing up, and definitely avoid storing your card on file with this company .
Bad haircare, worse business practices
I've used the shampoo and conditioner for months. Nothing has changed. But my real beef is with their shady business practices. I never subscribed but ordered as needed. I am attempting to reorder and give it another try there are $50 supplements in my cart I did not put there and cannot remove. I'm done with them. I am finally convinced they are not a legitimate company.
SCAM
I signed up for a subscription for a customized set of hair products, expecting to receive a new set every 12 weeks. Within a month, I got an email saying my next order had already shipped—way earlier than expected.
I reached out to customer service, assuming it was a simple mistake, but instead of acknowledging the issue, they just told me to adjust the subscription settings (which I had already done correctly when I first subscribed). When I asked if they could at least push my next order back by 12 weeks to compensate, they ignored my request and sent a copy-paste response telling me (again) to adjust the frequency online.
To make matters worse, they refused to provide a return shipping label, claiming the products are custom-made—which is misleading because the only “custom” thing about them is the label with my name on the bottle. Now I’m stuck with way more shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask than I can possibly use.
Terrible customer service, misleading customization claims, and an inflexible subscription system. After doing some research online, a lot of people are also having this problem and some cancelled the subscription and still getting charged every month. I wouldn’t recommend this brand to anyone.
The shampoo and conditioner is pricey
The shampoo and conditioner is pricey, but it's neat that it comes with you name on the label, which makes you think it was made specifically for you. I asked for fragrance free, however it does have a smell... And it's really bad/chemically. I put some essential oil drops in so hopefully it helps. The product seems to work well, though and my hair feels fuller. Worth the price? Unsure.
