Currently going to follow legal advise…

Currently going to follow legal advise on this company.

Separated parents but trying to get two children treated for ADHD.

Ex wife decided did not want me present for my sons assessments. Claimed there was ongoing court issues so i couldnt be present, PSICON did not ask to validate thid, as there was no such court proceedings.

Raised a complaint saying that should validate, that a parents preferences should not result in a child getting delayed assessments.

Then again, they excluded me being present again without notification.

Although a court order that specifies both parents should cooperate, PSICON believes their protocols are above court orders and have the power to diminish a parents responsibility to be present at a childs medical assessment when parents have shared care.

Each time ive have to wait for endless time for me to chase them up whilst ensuring my autistic child is entertained whilst waiting to get in assessments.

Absolutely disgusted that a company can revoke parental rights when there is no reason to.

The assessor was a kind

The assessor was a kind, gentle and understanding professional. We felt very safe with her and found her really easy to talk to.

The waiting time for the assessment was good. From my first contact, we waited roughly 6 months.

My only negative feedback relates to the administrative side of the business. There was some confusion over the reports which my child's school had or hadn't submitted. Trying to gain clarity about this from the admin staff at Psicon was difficult. They appear to be overwhelmed. Contact can only be via email, which they take around a week to respond to. When the responses were not clear, I then had to wait a further week to gain clarity. This was long winded, stressful and frustrating.

Absolutely brilliant!

All staff are friendly and professional.
You are welcomed and checked in fast and they have a brilliant waiting room with offers of coffee/tea and cold drink.
My daughter enjoyed the toys in the waiting area.

We were called through and the lady who assessed my daughter was friendly, patient, caring and just brilliant with my daughter. She danced and made a fuss at times when my daughter was singing and being silly.

We felt listened to and our concerns were acknowledged.

We went through the right to choose path and honestly so glad we did and chose Psicon.

Thank you so much!!

Unprofessional, ill-informed and lacking!

The whole experience of diagnostic process was inappropriate, unprofessional and ill-informed. The assessment was conducted by a mental health nurse and not a clinical psychologist. Conducted online with a poor connection from their side meant that the practitioner was often shouting into the screen and couldn’t hear us properly. There was another unknown person in their room, which we found out by a chance and were not informed about - confidentiality was questioned by us! There was very poor recognition of the concept of masking in girls even though extensive research has shown this is a major issue in the field. Inappropriate questions were asked about family life, pregnancy and gestation in front of our 9 year old which we had to navigate on the spot - again no understanding of the emotional impact on the child. The report highlights the inconsistency in behaviour between the school and home as a reason for not meeting the DSM criteria but this is precisely what research states is the case. We were told there are many symptoms and they will most likely get worse in the next two years so we can then come back and review the process. No thank you, we will definitely not put ourselves through this ordeal with this service. We’ve filed a complaint and still awaiting it being processed 11 weeks after (the timescale for those is 20 weeks!!!).
I work and research in inclusive education and have never in my professional life experienced such lack of expertise, professionalism and common courtesy in any of the SEND reviews I’ve been a part of.
We chose right to choose as waiting times for assessments in our region are between 3-8 years but it was clearly a mistake.
I would definitely NOT recommend this service to anyone!

Right to choose pathway

We chose Psicon through Right to Choose in January 2026 and were pleasantly surprised to have a relatively short wait of around seven months for our daughter’s assessment.

I was initially quite reluctant about the assessment being carried out online via Teams, but Miss Holiness Moyo quickly put my mind at ease. She had such a lovely, calm manner and was incredibly patient and understanding of my daughter’s behaviour, particularly when she struggled with concentration and engagement. She adapted to her throughout and showed a genuine understanding of the difficulties she was experiencing.

I particularly appreciated that my daughter felt understood rather than judged. The whole process was professional, supportive and thorough, and ultimately gave us the clarity we had been looking for. I would highly recommend Psicon to other families considering the Right to Choose pathway for an ADHD assessment.

Great Experience Throughout

Every stage of my sons diagnosis was clearly and explained thoroughly. There was roughly 5 weeks between initial assessment and parent assessment where the diagnosis was given. The wait is long through no fault of Psicon if you are through right to choose pathway but they fantastic throughout.

We had a really positive experience…

We had a really positive experience with Psicon. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with was kind, understanding and professional. They made what could have been a very stressful assessment feel much easier and made sure we felt listened to and supported throughout the process.

The assessment was handled with care, patience and understanding, and we really appreciated the way they took the time to understand things properly rather than making us feel rushed.

I’m very grateful for the support and understanding we received and would definitely recommend Psicon to other families going through the assessment process.

Overall I am happy with our experience…

Overall I am happy with our experience of this group through Right to Choose. We were offered an earlier appointment than expected but had to travel a long way to attend it as it wasn't our preferred location. We were not given documentation to support preparation for the interviews as I have seen at other providers and this added to anxiety of the unfamiliar location. It also seems to be a policy to arrange appointments at most a week in advance which makes it difficult to plan for. The practitioners and staff were friendly and helpful, reports returned promptly and after care advise was comprehensive. I would recommend them.

Very unprofessional...

Currently going through Psicon to help my son who is 9. Assesment and diagnosis report were great, no issue with that process but struggling so much to actually get prescriptions sent to our pharmacy. Wednesday 26th August we had an online meeting with a prescriber, we discussed different medications etc and made a decision on which one to try first. I was told to buy a blood pressure machine prior to the appointment as BP readings are needed before they prescribe medication so we did. At the meeting I gave the 3 readings and was told not to use a home BP machine as they're so inaccurate and so she wouldn't prescribe medication until they had aome better readings which was no problem. On Thurs 27th August (next day) I took my son to his GP and got 3 BP readings and submitted them immediately to the prescriber using the link she sent me. I was told at the meeting that once she had received these readings and looked at them this would generate his first prescription, however, that was a week ago and she still has not read the BP readings message.

Saturday 29th August I phoned their contact centre and spoke to weekend staff who asked me to send the BP readings to their out of hours email address which I did whilst on the phone and she said she would go and speak to the prescription team ans get back to me. Nothing... no contact back whatsoever.

Yesterday I called and was number 90 in the queue to speak to someone so I gave up. This morning (now 2nd September - now 6 days from when I sent the BP readings) I get a random text to say my sons prescription has been sent to our local pharmacy, great I stupidly think. So off I went... and NO RECORD off it being sent to the pharmacy so I call again to wait on hold for another 40 mins to be told it hasn't been sent and the message was in error but that will go and speak to the private prescription team and get back to me. YET AGAIN NO PHONE CALL BACK!

Psicon have had (a lot!) of money out of me but once you've had your diagnosis report they don't want anything more to do with you. Radio silence from them. No communication whatsoever. No return calls, no messages read, no emails. Not even a reply to my complaint email to their complaint and feedback team. Utterly rubbish.

Meanwhile they've still got my money and my son is not getting the medication or the service I've paid for. If I haven't heard from them by the end of the week I'm going to have to go down the small claims route because this is frankly very unprofessional and ridiculous.

The prescriber even had the cheek to book in a wellbeing meeting with my son for a few weeks time after she was supposed to prescribe his medication to see how he's getting on on it but, alas, no medication to actually follow up. Disgusted doesn't even come close with this company. Staff don't communicate and don't expect any work to actually be done.

Thank you for your feedback and for your patience while we looked into this for you. We have been able to identify the case and are pleased to see that this has since been resolved.

Our prescribing protocols include a number of ways clients can be supported to obtain blood pressure readings, including the use of home blood pressure monitors. We will remind our nurse prescribers of the clinically appropriate options available.

We are very sorry for any confusion this has caused and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Shocking

Assessment for ADHD for child virtually. Abrupt questioning from the assessor. Asked us our concerns and then interrupted us to tell us no, what are our concerns with child’s attention or hyperactivity. Given she is also being assessed for autism and there is an overlap of symptoms we didn’t think the question was being answered incorrectly given we were voicing our concerns.
We felt like our answers were annoying him as we weren’t answering the way he wanted. Suggested she is assessed for autism and went on to refer to this as a mental health illness about 3 or 4 times. Shocking.

Absolutely terrible experience

Absolutely terrible experience. On our way to the appointment there was a car crash on the M25 which brought the motorway to a shut down while the police cleared the road. My son and I were sitting for over an hour. I called psicon and explained and the lady said that they would wait for 15 minutes. After explaining that we have waited over 4 years for the assessment and that my child was on the expulsion list she said she would speak with the clinician. She called me back 30 minutes later to say that they would still see my son. I explained that we would be outside of the 15 minute late window and she said they would still see him. We arrived 3 minutes outside of the window to be told that they would not see my son. We did a 4 hour journey to be turned away instantly. They also told me that others had been turned away due to the same incident on the motorway. I then asked what the clinician was doing due to these cancelled appointments when the families arrived and were turned away.... they said he had no patients. My son was very dysregulated by time we areived due to 4 hours in the car.... they now won't see him for any assessment until they have completed a risk assessment as he threw some pillows.... seriously. Avoid this company because they say one thing and do the opposite. 4 years and waiting and no end in sight. They could have re arranged and saved me driving from windsor to Canterbury and sitting on a closed down motorway but they said he would be seen so we continued with the journey. Canterbury cathedral is beautiful though and helped to regulate my son

Avoid at all costs if you’re…

Avoid at all costs if you’re considering going private for ADHD treatment.

I would strongly advise anyone considering private ADHD treatment to think very carefully before proceeding. Unless you have several thousand pounds available to cover the assessment, titration appointments, consultations, prescriptions and medication costs, it can become extremely expensive very quickly.

One of my biggest concerns is the lack of transparency around pricing. The full costs were not clearly explained or highlighted before I completed my assessment, which made it difficult to understand the potential financial commitment before proceeding.

I have also been extremely disappointed with the level of consideration given to my mental health. My assessment and treatment were expedited only because my GP and Crisis Team became involved and submitted urgent requests. This was because I was unable to access the appropriate mental health treatment until my ADHD had been assessed and treated.

According to the psychiatrists involved in my care, some of my underlying symptoms could potentially be related to ADHD. However, in order to establish whether this was the case, I needed to be appropriately assessed and medicated.

I have now had my appointment, but I am still waiting for a prescription. I have been chasing this repeatedly since Thursday afternoon, yet I am being told that my letter is still awaiting review by the ECG team. Given the circumstances and the urgency that was communicated to them, I find this extremely frustrating.

Unfortunately, I have also found the overall level of communication and customer care very disappointing. Despite explaining my circumstances, I have not felt that there has been any real urgency, understanding or compassion shown towards my situation. On several occasions, I have spent hours on hold trying to speak to someone, only to be promised a callback that never materialises.

If you are considering going private, I would strongly recommend researching all of your options first. It may be worth looking into Right to Choose, which can provide an alternative route for accessing ADHD assessment and treatment through the NHS, depending on your eligibility, chosen provider and their current waiting list.

I genuinely wish I had researched all of my options more thoroughly before committing to private treatment. My experience has been extremely frustrating, both financially and in terms of the level of support and communication I have received.

Please do your research, ask for a full breakdown of all potential costs before paying for an assessment, and consider whether Right to Choose may be a better option for you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that you have found aspects of your care and communication with us frustrating, particularly at what sounds to have been a difficult time.
We would like to clarify the information we provide regarding our private ADHD services. Our ADHD assessment is a standalone service with an all-inclusive fee, which is provided to patients at enquiry stage and again before they choose to self-refer. There are no additional charges associated with completing the assessment itself.
Medication management is a separate and optional service that is only relevant following an ADHD diagnosis and where medication is considered clinically appropriate. For this reason, we do not present medication management as part of the cost of an ADHD assessment.
Where a patient wishes to proceed with private medication management following diagnosis, we provide detailed information about the service and its costs before they commit to treatment. This includes the annual package fee, which covers 12 months of clinically indicated appointments and prescriptions, as well as information that medication costs are payable separately to the dispensing pharmacy and circumstances in which additional charges may apply. We also make clear that private titration represents an ongoing financial commitment and that transfer to NHS services may involve significant waiting times.
We are, however, concerned to hear about the communication difficulties you describe, including the time you have spent trying to contact us and callbacks you say you have not received. We would also like to understand what has happened following your recent appointment, particularly given the circumstances you have described.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to confidently identify your patient record from the information contained within this review. Please email feedback@psicon.co.uk with the subject line “Trustpilot Review”, marking your email for the attention of the ADHD Medication Quality Lead. This will enable us to identify your record, review the circumstances fully and ensure that your concerns are directed to the appropriate team.
