Great experience - was not stressful, although the audit schedule was 3 days long. The auditor Anthony Price conducted the audits at a good, calm pace and we were able to demonstrate our quality management systems well. We could also build good rapport with auditor in the 3 days.

We initially had a positive experience with the audit and consultancy side of Citation ISO Certification. The operational staff we dealt with were generally professional and helpful.

However, businesses considering signing up should read the contract extremely carefully, particularly around term length and cancellation provisions.

In our case, what appeared commercially to be an ongoing service relationship turned out to involve a very long contractual commitment with substantial early termination fees linked to future contract value. When our business ceased trading, we discovered that ending the agreement was neither straightforward nor inexpensive.

The issue for us was not the quality of the auditors or consultants, but the rigidity of the commercial model and the way the cancellation structure operates in practice.

We ultimately chose to settle the matter commercially in order to avoid prolonged legal costs and distraction, but the experience left us wishing we had scrutinised the contractual terms far more carefully at the outset.

My advice to any SME considering Citation is simple: before signing, make sure you fully understand:

* the minimum term,
* the renewal structure,
* the cancellation mechanism,
* and the financial consequences of exiting early.

The service itself may suit some businesses well, but the contractual commitment is significantly more onerous than many SMEs may expect.

Responding to the reply:
"I’m sorry to read that, based on your own comments, the contractual commitment may not have been fully recognised at the time." - that will be because you never mentioned it.

"We did make several attempts to engage and request the information needed to review your circumstances, and I’m sorry that we were unable to reach an amicable resolution without this." - No, you delayed, ignored my responses, didn't believe our situation, and set your lawyer onto us.

The Consultant Simon Langston was very friendly and professional.

I have conducted multiple ISO:27001 audits with Citation now. The standard can be a difficult one to figure out but The Auditors at Citation are always open to suggestions & forthcoming with information.

The audit with Cheryl was a continuation of the trend and in the end it was a breeze to complete.

A great service provided each time.
