I really enjoy my Rad Mini 4, but...

I really enjoy my Rad Mini 4, however on the same day I purchased the bikes, I also purchased wheel locks. I received an email stating one bike was on its way and the locks were on the way. The other bike won't be shipped for a few weeks. While the email stated the locks were shipped on the same day ("Your order has left our facility"), and I was giving a tracking number, a week later, having had the bike assembled for several days now, the locks' tracking number still says it's not been shipped ("USPS Currently Awaiting Package"). I have ordered stuff from China that's gotten here in less time.

When I called, they knew my order from the incoming phones number, which made things much easier, however they still say the locks have shipped, but USPS says it hasn't. I'm calling my bank to cancel the charges. The customer service guy refused to look up the tracking number and refused to let me talk. I'm never doing business with them again. I will buy accessories elsewhere, even if I have to custom order them.

Purchase / Replacement & Delivery

We purchased a Rover Step Thru and Rover 6. The Step Thru was too big for my wife (too bad there was no where semi-local to view products prior to purchase) and RAD was good with the RAD Mini replacement. Waiting for my Rover 6 to arrive, can't wait.

No cash accepted for purchase!

We just purchased a couple Rad Rover 5's. Love the bikes so far. My comment is trivial I suppose but it bugs me. No cash accepted for payment. Period. We do not carry credit cards nor do we want them. We have a couple simply because you can't do anything without one it seems anymore. Anyway, "Legal tender for all debts public and private" that's what every bill says on it. What you are doing is illegal.

Not even horrible

Not even horrible, no customer service, seems they are always out of stock with pertinent parts. I need a battery and cannot get a replacement. I basically paid $1700 for a useless garage ornament.

These bikes are really great

I just bought two RadRover bikes and had them shipped to me. They were very well packaged and easy to assemble. I'm so impressed with the quality of the bikes - even how well they were boxed and the instruction video and literature on how to put them together. This is really a quality product, thank you!

Rad Is Bad

Rad Is Bad. I purchased a RadRunner Electric Utility bike. I paid for the San Diego location to assemble and deliver it. The bike seems to be good quality but they delivered it with faulty front brakes and in spite of making five service requests they haven't done a damn thing to fix them. They've promised to call; sorry, it didn't happen. They promised to respond to my email; nope. What they did do however, is to send me a survey asking me to rate my recent repair experience, as if they had done their job. Super flaky customer service: in fact, none so far. Buy something else. Without warranty service, it doesn't matter how cool the bike is. They could have delivered it ridden by a naked Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, which would ease the pain, but I would still be stuck with an unsafe bicycle and little to no hope of getting the service I paid for. Rad is Bad.

Update 7/17/21: I sent Rad a return request. My purchase meets all requirements but I haven't heard from the return department after 24 hours. However, 39 minutes after I sent the return request I was finally contacted by customer service, who seemed quite eager to fix my bike. I told them I was going to return the bike and there is no need to fix it. I just ordered a Himiway Escape, which reviews much better, has more features, but costs a few bucks more. 🖕🏼Rad.
They're 🔱ankers.

Poor Customer Support

Bought 2 - RadRover ST & RadCity ST
Decent bikes for the money. Easy to work with for order. Wasn't interested in some delivery issues. Working with customer support since has been terrible. Hard to find (bad website), limited communications with poor to no response. Our bikes are 3 months old and i will buy our next ones where there is a local location - were in MO.

You can't trust them to deliver - disorganised mess of a company, with the wrong attitude

So I have ordered a Rad Mini 4, plus two carriers. When I ordered the bike (a folder) on June 15 the website assured me that it'd be shipped by 30 June. This meant that I'd have the bike in time to take on my vacation. The took almost $2000.

Rad Immediately shipped the carriers - but I was getting no information about the bike. So after a week I contacted them to ask, will it ship on time - used their web-chat. Hums-Haws ... customer rep tells me they don't know when it'll ship, but maybe early July - with a 6 day shipping time. What! Then it'll arrive after I leave. I then ask can they redirect it if late .... you thought I'd ask for the sacrifice of a child - we don't know. Well then when will it ship - they don't know. Finally they agree that if its after 1 July it'll be redirected to where I'm on vacation.

But when in July? Will I get even during my vacation? They don't know. I told them that if I'm not going to see it reasonably early in July they can keep the bike. They have not bothered to contact me further - other than to ask in a survey e-mail "was my problem resolved." Now I have to haul two boxes containing carriers on vacation with me, with no idea if the bike is being shipped.

This is a disorganised mess of a company, with a bad attitude.

Horrible service and products

Company has false advertisements. Does Not Honor any of the Warranty and/or guarantee. Have structural damage and defective electrical equipment.
Bike frame and most parts are all from China. And apparently due to covid all bike have to go into a quarantine. My last order was delayed then eventually canceled by the merchant because I called to inquire why the item in stock hasn't been sent 4 weeks after payment and was told it was due to Covid. I questioned how a bike and parts could give a forklift Covid.
Overall I highly recommend a more professional company with good customer repor.

As companies grow....

I am quite sure Rad Power Bikes used to be a top-notch company. As we all know, though, as companies go from "i have a passionate idea i want to try" to "we're huge!" that doesn't always stay that way.

I am afraid I have a hunch this is what is happening with Rad Power Bikes.

The bikes themselves are like german cars. When they work they are a joy. Can tell why they are a notch above. In my case (purchase mid-2020), it was just keeping the bike working.

The assembly was not easy. Mis-fitting cheaper allen wrenches were inadequate. Bolts were getting resistance nearly immediately and impossible to screw in all the way for many of the bolts. A pedal slid off revealing chewed internal threads within a handful of rides. My ex-mechanic roomie at the time suspected that the internal threading was skewed slightly most likely due to heat exposure during welding causing our issues with the bolts (and way too much loctite on each bolt).

Motor noises showed up soon after that with Rad Bike's own recommended Velofix mobile mechanics suggesting there may be loose magnets in the motor or suspecting it (turned out to be tire spoke tuning).

I came to not trust the bike and inquired about a return. Due to covid i did not get any response whatsoever for 2+ weeks until I re-inquired again only to be met with the response:

"we apologize for the extended delays. Please be understanding of our limited availability due to covid..."

(literally next sentence)

"we are not able to accomodate a return/refund at this time because it's been past the 14 day return limit"

So in other words, because they wanted "my understanding" that they could not respond in a timely fashion due to covid, they were not willing to offer me a return as it took them longer than 14 days to respond. (Mind you my original request to return was within the 14 day limit).

Emails became contentious and unconstructive in pointing the above out- to the point they started ignoring.

I reiterate that I have zero doubt Rad Power Bikes used to be top notch. it is clear (compared to the replacement bike I bought as a result of the above) that if quality control/manufacturing remained at a high level- their bike actually rides superior. But the immense growth, trying to cash in on that growth, and most likely not growingn themselves to support that growth first- is biting them now.

To their defense- it is the same syndrome many companies go through who become successful then spiral to their death.

I can not recommend a Rad Bike for these reasons, and this experience.
