Breakdown helpline doesn't work!

Ihad a breakdown and phoned their emergency rescue number at around 7pm on a Saturday. The number didn't ring out and was cut off. I tried the number 7 times and each time it was the same.
Waste of money and I have made a complaint to them, I doubt it will achieve anything. I'll stick to RAC, Green flag and the AA in future.

Terrible customer experience. Administrative incompetence and sharp practice

Terrible customer experience, at least with the agents ( Recover. Cover for Dynamo Cover) who deal with setting up the policy. Same people or not? I don’t know. Customers shouldn’t have to make that kind of distinction. I wrote several times to cancel my renewal 10 days before the renewal was due. I received no response, And then guess what? My policy was renewed and charged against my credit card. I then wrote again to the same email address. This time I had the courtesy of a reply, but only to tell me I hadn’t followed the correct procedure for cancellation so the policy had been automatically renewed. No one had thought to reply to my emails in the intervening period to say you need to do X,Y, Z now. And guess what? When I cancel now, now a few days after the policy has started, a weighty non refundable admin fee, 30% of the policy cost, is charged for all their admin trouble ( you understand) for having set up and then cancelling that policy that I had plainly told them in plenty of time I didn’t want renewed.
So I guess it was easier just to ignore correspondence and make sure you clock up that cancellation fee .
They don’t seem to have any trouble in replying now on the same day from the same email address. So why not before? I’m awaiting a full refund of my policy cost including the ‘non-refundable fee’ that was payable for that unwanted Christmas gift of administrative incompetence.
I think that incompetence is too kind though. We’re actually looking at malpractice here, and I’ll certainly be pursuing this with the ombudsman if need be.
A company that receives one star reviews from 95% of its customers needs investigation and a major overhaul.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Disgusting company and terrible service. Waited ages for them to refund monies that they took without my authorisation. I strongly recommend recording the calls if you can, as this is the only way they took note of my complaint. They were not willing to resolve my complaint until I advised that I had all conversations recorded and had no issues with supplying them each recording.
I'm going to do everything I can to ensure no other customers have to go through the stress of dealing with this company as I have had over the last month. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY - YOU WILL BE SORRY IN THE LONG TERM!!!!!!

Great customer service following flat tyre on M6 near stoke . Had many follow up calls from recover checking on me which was nice and the recovery to tyre place was great , great value for money and better experience than RAC

Awful customer service - AVOID

Policy was cancelled in May 2022 and now in October when it would have been due for renewal, they are trying to charge me again to renew a policy that I have already cancelled. Waited 20 minutes to get through and awful robotic girl on customer service who did not help at all, no apology, no refund for half term cancellation and another 15 minutes trying to get it resolved. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Awful company

Awful company. As other people who have left reviews, no notice of renewal was sent and they just took the money (three times what is was last year) from my credit card. Do yourself a favour and don't have anything to do with them

SCAMMERS

They have scammed us.
We had a policy last year and they have renewed without sending a policy or anything. Just taken the money from our account.

There was no direct debit set up. They have recorded our card details in order to take another transaction.
We emailed them arounf a month ago to tell them we didn't want any renewals.

They have charged well in exces of the normal costs.

Stay away!

Recover cover aka dynamo cover ripped me off at renewal, I don't do automatic renewal, but must have forgotten to take it off last year, I received an email yesterday saying thank you for staying with us for a nother year. I paid £33 last year for the same cover but have increased it to £59 for this year, I cancelled and they have stolen £22.50 in which they claim is admin fees. I didn't get an email from them to tell me it was due for renewal, but
they said they did, This is a scam, they don't send reminders then double the amount at renewal, then take £22.50 in fees when you cancel. DON'T GO THERE, I am in touch with citizens advice, Peter

Avoid! Do not purchase

Avoid! They increase premium half way through the year and will charge your card without notice. They automatically increase your premium to 3-4 times more than you paid previous year. When you try calling them to cancel, you're on hold for at least 40mins then disconnected. The incessant hold message claims you can amend policy online but they do not give that option when you do log in so basically they do everything to ensure you cannot cancel in due time and they charge your card {details of which they should not have kept in the first place}

Not a good experience.

Waited 50 minutes on the phone to cancel automatic renewal. Renewal price increased from £25 last year to £62 this year (they automatically increase the level of cover to the highest). Last year they increased the price of the policy part way through the term taking it by direct debit without authority. No reply to email complaining about this.

So glad I've just read all these reviews, was doing price comparisons and it obviously doesn't pay to go cheap! how can a company still be trading if it is doing all these things???? Bad practice!!

daylight trickery

Same as other people, no signs i was to be auto-renewed and the price doubled to £76 - cancelled within hours of their renewal (which was not authorised by me) but all their added fees means i end up wasting £30 and an entire morning trying to deal with it - daylight trickery

Awful expensive company

Awful expensive company - upon renewal they charge a brokerage few as expensive as the policy. When you cancel the auto renewal you still are not refunded the brokerage fee ( I cancelled the same day it was due to start). They have automated the cancellation so you have no chance to protest. Never again - beware because they come up the cheapest regularly on confused.com

I feel I've been robbed!

I should have checked Trustpilot. Like other reviewers I've suffered outrageous escalating price and NOT received the renewal emails that they claim to have sent. Last year I asked them to take it off automatic renewal but since I had paid I let it run till this year assuming the policy would end. This year, without notice they took payment again, without my expressed permission. They assume that you agree by not replying! Isn't that auto renewal? So I phoned and they sent me a cancelation link. The policy has only been running 13 days and they took £27.50 in cancelation fees. I haven't seen the refund yet. You can't remove the auto renewal or the payment details yourself. It seems that you can't get them to do it either! I hope that cancelling has got them off my back.

Scammers

Scammers, you've been warned. Use auto renew to dupe you out of money. Then just take the money and tell you after they've taken it, then refuse to refund the whole amount the day after when you cancel the policy. Also I don't think the fact they use auto renew is communicated very clearly in the policy.

Was on hold for over an hour and cut off before I could speak to anyone!
They’ve trying to renew my policy from £30 to £70! Won’t take cancellation via email so you have to ring and try to cancel it but can never get through to anyone! Wish I read the reviews before going with them!!

Warning- Do NOT auto renew

I have just had £76.34 taken from my bank account with no warning for breakdown renewal. They said they’d emailed me but I have no email and nothing in my junk mail. Funny, I received the email saying the policy had renewed. They are refunding me £53.84 but have given £22.50 to Call Assist and 'can't' get it back. I phoned Call Assist but they won't deal with that side of things and say I should call the insurer. Never mind any 14 days right to cancel.

Like others I wish I had looked on here…

Like others I wish I had looked on here before taking out a policy with them as they do charge for everything and then cover themselves by saying it is all in the small print - which it is. I have cancelled my policy and asked for a refund and then been charged another £9.99 for the cancellation! I do not expect to get a refund but will certainly keep arguing with them. Avoid them like the plague

Arghhh...wish I'd checked on here before wasting my money. Awful company, cancelled my policy before it was due to start & charged me £16 cancellation fee...rude customer service. Avoid!!
