I give reedsy a high score because I genuinely like it and always use it. I started with word, then went to docs, discovered reedsy and it's just stuck. yes there's always room for improvement... See more

Just the people to have by your side.
Reedsy have been extremely informative, prompt and helpful throughout my debut writing journey over the last 3 years.
They provide a comprehensive service: providing regular tips on creative writing, an impressive bank of editors, designers, marketers to choose from, and regular seminars and tutorials.
Everything is well organised; their website and links are very easy to follow and efficient.
As a first time author
As a first time author everything has been a learning curve. Reedsy was easy to use and I feel that I have been very lucky with my choice of book cover designer.
How much of that has been luck and how much has been down to Reedsy's vetting of panel members I can't say, but I can say that my first experience of using them has been a positive one.
100% Fabulous
Excelent! Their website allows you to download print ready copies of your book! Definetely recommended!
Reedsey, great for writing on the go!
I was using docs and YWriter and have made much more progress since I started using Reedsy! The cloud based writing platform makes things super easy!
I Was Left Completely Unprotected by Reedsy When My Editor Had a Stroke
I hired an editor via Reedsy in September 2025 for a full copy edit of my memoir.
The agreed delivery date was 28 October 2025, fee £1,150.
What went wrong
27 October (one day before delivery):
The editor informed me he had suffered a seizure and mild stroke. He asked to delay the project and sent an amendment expiring that same night.
I immediately contacted Reedsy asking:
not to accept the amendment yet
to pause the payment
for guidance on how to proceed
to log the situation immediately
Reedsy did not act before the deadline.
28 October:
Payment was taken automatically even though the work was not delivered.
The next day I received only 25 chapters (half the book).
The remainder came later, after the contractual date. With no plan or schedule approved
My complaint trail
From 27 October onward, I repeatedly raised:
Late delivery / incomplete work
Concerns about the editor’s health and capacity
The fact that payment had gone through despite my request to pause it
On 31 October, Reedsy told me:
“Your message, all correspondence, and the full project timeline have been attached to the internal case file.”
“The matter will be escalated to our policy team.”
I believed my case was being reviewed.
On 1 November, I reiterated loss of confidence and the late delivery.
On 14 November, I sent a detailed breakdown of poor editing quality: grammar errors, inconsistent UK spelling, superficial changes, and pages of corrections I am now doing myself. (I am now spending all my time doing this myself and I really wanted to publish with G20 summit. He knew this)
Contradictory responses from Reedsy
Later, Reedsy told me:
I had “not raised concerns about quality”
I had “not requested mediation or refund options”
This contradicts the written record on:
27 October
31 October
1 November
14 November
I was then told to start again and file an official report. I did.
Shortly afterward, I received a message saying:
“Your request has now been closed.”
No explanation.
No resolution.
No compensation.
What concerns me most
My urgent pre deadline plea for help was ignored.
Payment was taken on incomplete work.
Reedsy kept redirecting me back to an editor recovering from a stroke.
Their own statements about escalation conflicted with each other.
Their “Project Protection” did not offer any actual protection.
I am now re editing my own manuscript to fix basic errors.
Consumer rights
I have now referred this matter to Trading Standards because elements of this experience raise concerns under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, particularly around:
reasonable care and skill
services delivered on time
misleading commercial practices
Final note
The editor’s illness is not the issue — illness happens.
The issue is how Reedsy handled it: slow, contradictory, dismissive, and leaving me exposed after payment was taken.
I share this so authors can make informed decisions before relying on Reedsy’s assurances. Reedsy will be the reason why people will trust AI more where humans failed and Reedsy failed me terribly. If only Trustpilot allowed screenshots I could show how you just lied in your response you never helped me and ignored my request for help on the 27th I rejected nothing. And why don’t you show my emails where I asked outright NOT to Pay on the 27th? People reading this should know, you will never get your money back these guys out right play games. Can trustpilot allow actual screenshots?

I Love this app
I Love this app. It’s made writing a book so much easier, and less daunting. I wish I had known about it 5 months ago when I started writing my book. It’s so intuitive. It’s even helped me find a better structure for my book. The chapters automatically appear on the contents page, even when you move the order around (It’s automatic). I’m already recommending it to everyone I know. I also love that you can copy and paste text from any format (like word /pdf/whatsapp etc), which is not the case with all the writing softwares. I’m so grateful for the people who created it. Thank you so much!
Reedsy’s writing platform…
I mainly use Reedsy’s writing platform for outlining and formatting my books, and it’s become my go-to space to write. I love how easy it is to organize chapters and see the whole book laid out. The typesetting looks professional, and any time I’ve had a question, Reedsy has been quick and friendly in their replies. I’d recommend them to any indie author.
Reedsy's great for authors
I heard about Reedsy from a friend and before that I was using Word to write my novel and as a first time writer, it was pretty complex for me to use and formatting wasn't even harder but with reedsy, all you have to worry about is writing and it does the rest for you. It also has spaces for outline, character building, world building, naming of characters and so on but that's in the paid version. The free version though has no limitations to you as a writer, that's what I use and it has been an easy journey so far. I fully recommend this to anyone who wants to write or even publish a book.

I came for the November sprint and I'm staying after. There are a lot of good resources. It's easy to use.
Reedsy actually helps me reach my goals.
After learning that Google Docs allegedly uses people’s work to train AI, I got very paranoid and just went back to writing in my notes app. Eventually, I decided to do some digging on the internet for apps without AI usage/training since I personally don’t like that…also only writing in my notes app was kind of boring, and I didn’t really feel that motivated to write much unless it was late in the night and my mind was running.
Since starting Reedsy, I’ve actually been writing a lot more, since it has goals you can set and see how far you’ve reach—and also how long it would take you to reach those goals. It also separates the chapters for you??? And formats it for free??? It also lets you add certain things to the book like pictures, scene breaks, notes etc…
Honestly, I wish I found the app sooner and I’m not even exaggerating because then, I would’ve probably finished my book already.
The only thing that worries me with it, though is that it’s not an app I can download on my phone. Sometimes, I like to write things on my phone when I get annoyed by my laptop. So, that would be nice to have.
Anyway, Love Reedsy. Literally most of it is free, and the free stuff is enough to help you write your book.

I used Reedsy to hire an editor for my novel. I was looking for an industry expert with vetted credentials and I had many options to choose from. The price for editing is a little spendy (though set by the editor themselves, because the quality is high, the prices follow suit) but very worth it. I was very happy with my experience and I feel like my novel has really been given the polish it needed. I would definitely use them again.
Reedsy for Aspiring Authors
Reedsy offers an intuitive framework and interface that allows an aspiring author to get right to work. They also provide support sessions that are both informative and helpful for new authors trying to supplement their creative toolbox. I have already gone through the process of getting a book published on Amazon using Reedsy, and would recommend it for any new author.
Reedsy Editor is THE place to create your novel!
I have only been using Reedsy Editor for a little over 10 days now, but it has greatly improved the quality of my writing. It is not only intuitive to use, but it tracks what you are creating, and help you create in your way, absolutely free! That's right, there is no cost. Just a robust writing service that allows you to create your work, your way. Why wouldn't you give it a go?
Really happy!
From.finding my editor to processing payments and communicating with me every step of the way Reedsy made this whole process easy and graceful.
