Buyer beware

Buyer beware, do not purchase from this company.

Paid for shoes through Kickstarter over 2 years ago. Multiple manufacturing delays (fine), but then Rens messed up the sizing information and shipped me the wrong size.

I had to return the shoes at my own cost for a replacement, at which point they were unable to ship me the correct size due to some "warehouse" problems. I asked for a full refund for the original purchase, plus the return cost. This was months ago and i'm still waiting.

I'm out of pocket for the full cost and have no shoes.

Wanted to support a more sustainable shoe manufacturer, but it's a complete disaster.

Went to Adidas and bought a cheaper pair with recycled content, that came in the post in 3 days.

No substantive response to email, no Telephone # and no shoes!

Two pairs ordered two weeks ago and order confirmation sent immediately. However since then I have not received shoes nor notification of shipping. Rens website claims orders are shipped within 24 hrs. But I have heard nothing substantive, only boilerplate “we received your inquiry” type response
If I do not hear by end of week
Will direct my bank to challenge company as fraudulent so I can get my money back. So disappointing!

Not waterproof!

I ordered a pair of rens nomad on kickstarter and the money was collected in september 2021. Then followed a long period of delays in the making of the shoes, then the shipping and so on, but i finally received a pair of shoes in february 2023, which were way too big. Customer service was good and sent me a smaller pair quickly and so i could try both pairs and choose the best one. The smaller pair was still a bit large, so if you order some, go for the smallest size you can fit in. We finally had some heavy rain where I live and I went for a walk with my new waterproof trainers, only to discover after stepping in my first slightly deep puddle that water was coming in the shoe. Definitely not impressed as that was the main argument that made me buy the shoes, along with eco friendly credentials

Ads are a lie (shoes are not waterproof)

Ordered the Ren's Originals quite some time back. They did not last long, but they sent me another pair so I thought I would give them another go with their most recent shoes the Nomad. I wish I'd never done that. They advertised the shoes as 100% waterproof and they simply are not. They're not even waterresistent. Customer service was so poorly. First they completely ignored me for months. Fortunately I paid via Klarna and contacted Klarna. I finally had a response: they told me it would be a cool feeling I experience and not the lack of being waterproof. And they cannot replace or refund them because I obviously have them for several weeks. Which is just a joke. I sent them pictures of my wet socks and asking again for a refund or a functioning pair of shoes. Again no response. Klarna reached out to me and asked if there are any updates about my shoes. Finally Ren's answered and they gave me a 50% refund, no other option. So now I have a shoe that is not waterproof and lost half my money. NEVER EVER AGAIN! I truly believe the company became a fraud and it is their new strategy to handle costumers which is a shame. Because intitally I really wanted to give them a chance.

Blessed!!!

It took about 4 days to ship and the shoes arrived after 10 days to my residence. They fit well and were waterproof just as promised! It is one of my best shoe decisions and I hope to order again!!!

Horrible business ethics

Horrible business ethics! 2 years ago I backed their kickstarter campaign and they got funded more than they wanted, a total of 350k. We all know the pandemic made things worse for a lot of these projects so I gave them the benefit of the doubt when they delayed. Now it’s been almost 1 year post-pandemic and they still haven’t shipped my reward.

Worst part is that they’re selling the same shoes online and the delivery estimate is 6 business days!!!

And they are completely ghosting the kickstarter backers: no updates, no responses to the comments, nothing, dead silence. Meanwhile on Twitter they’re super active posting once a week about their NFTs to try and build a community around that and get people to buy their NFTs.

That means they used the 350k from kickstarter to fund the shift of their business from selling apparel to web3/crypto. They had to hire developers for the NFTs and artists, and all that came out of the money that was supposed to be used to manufacture the kickstarter shoes and distribute them to backers.

It’s incredible how they’ve pivoted using our money, and now are trying to grab more money from a new audience using NFTs and being super active with that audience while actively ignoring kickstarter backers.

Then they made me fill a form to measure my shoes back in November because some backers were having size problems and now in January they told me they already sent the first batch of kickstarter rewards to Canadians but my order didn’t get included because it needed a new size and they asked me to measure for the THIRD time… this is probably just a plot to gain more time because they’re unable to fulfill my order because they probably burned all their money on the NFT business. I bet they haven’t even had a first round of shipping this year.

Customer service apparently non-existant. Bad!

Received my shoes fast, but they do not fit well. So I asked multiple times for a return label, but my emails remain unanswered. Fortunately, I ordered them with Klarna, so I didn’t pay yet. Incredible that there are no other contact options. Really, really lousy customer service, if any…

Scam Rens Nomad via Kickstarter

I paid a pair of shoes nomad and 1 pair of socks in the Kickstarter phase. Just received the pair of shoes 1 week ago but no pair of socks. Just the shoes. Trying since that moment to contact on email but no answer. No customer care service, no nothing. I also must say the shoes product doesn't look so qualitative and i consider in this context that this was just a scam via Kickstarter. So bad. So annoying.

customer service unreachable!!!

I am trying to exchange my Kickstarter shoes, which are unfortunately too big, but they are out of reach. No customer service phone numbers available, they don't reply to email, twitter or messenger messages. As if they don't exist. Hopefully I will get an answer, but for now I have little hope.

No good company

No good company, I cannot recommend them. My shoes got wet after 6 months when I was biking with light rain.
Only my toes got wet so the shoes can't be named as water dry.
My review on their website was deleted because they don't want to hear things like that about their "baby", their shoes.
So don't buy shoes from them, their promises about water resistence is not correct.

Return policy says 30 days return

Return policy says 30 days return. no one is answering my mails for the return label (requested within a couple days of receipt of product). this is a rip off, a scam. and you are forced to pay with Klarna another nightmare company.

They exploit immigrants and underpay workers

They exploit immigrants and workers. They threaten them with immigration authorities and they pay only a fraction of the minimum wage.

They deleted my comments and questions in LinkedIn and blocked in IG. They refuse to answer the question that whether their "Rens Original Brandbassador" campaign is just another way to get free advertising for them.

Perhaps all of this reinforces the idea of that the people who exploits another are very apologetic when they get caught. Even though they have to had know that what they did was wrong. And still, no compensation is made for the exploited. Just say you are sorry and all is good again.

Avoid this brand by any means

Avoid this by any means. Based on a recent article by the largest newspaper in Finland (Helsingin Sanomat) (the company is Finland based), the company pays below minimum salaries and abuses their immigrant workers.

Just awful.
