Greenville Texas

Greenville Texas. I had been looking for a coffee table and end tables for our guest home. I went to several different place and I didn’t find any that I like. I had one more stop to make but I saw the Rent a Center store and thought well I check to see if they have something. The salesman I dealt with was Garrett. I told him what I was looking for and and he said he had 2 different sets. He showed me the sets. I explained that I had one more store I was going check and it was on my home (30 miles). There was one set that I liked but was not the exact color I was wanting. I asked him if I purchased it could I have a refund if the other store has what I wanted. He said “Let me check” He went into the back office and then came back to counter and said “Yes, I can do that.” I purchased the item and he loaded it in my truck. I went to the other store and found the tables that I wanted. I drove back to the Rent a Center to get a refund on my credit card. Garrett was at lunch so I spoke with the Assistant Manager Jason. He told me they do not give refunds. (This item was brand new in the box. Had not been touched by anyone but Garrett in two hours). I explained to him what happened with Garrett and again he told be they do not give refunds but I could wait on Garrett to come back from lunch and discuss it with him. I waited for over 30 minutes. When Garrett arrived Jason had discussed this with him. When I approached Garrett and told him I needed my refund he said they did not give refunds. He lied! Of course I became angry because I spoke my mind. I told him and Jason to look at their cameras and they could see that Garrett lied. He told me I could call the 1-800 number and file a complaint. I left the store very angry. I was on hold for 47 minutes. I spoke with a young lady and explained everything that happened. She said she would send the complaint to the district manager and he would call me within 48 hours. That was 4 days ago. I have heard nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have absolutely no integrity. They lie just to get a sale. The worst service I have ever experienced with a company.

Avoid them at all costs

My family and I had recently moved into a new home and needed couches as soon as possible. Every other place we looked at had a delivery date that was over three months out due to shipping delays as a result of Covid. We decided to go to Rent-A-Center and pick up a used set for a very affordable price. We even purchased the warranty just in case. About six weeks in, the first couch broke. It took over a week to get a repair man to come out. Another two months later, the second couch broke. I had had it at that point and went into the store to request a new set of couches Which was covered under the satisfaction warranty. I picked out a great set and had it set to be delivered. The day of they sent me a new contract for the couches. They were supposed to take $900 off for what I had already paid into the current set. The new price tag was $2000 if I had them paid off in six months. I was completely pissed off. I try to fight it with the company but they wouldn’t budge. That would mean that I would be paying $3000 for some basic recliners, and that’s if I would’ve paid them off early. I am so angry with the purchase. I’m still waiting to hear back from the repairman on the second couch, but no one‘s calling me back. Do not go with them and do not buy the warranty. Complete waste of time and money. The satisfaction guarantee it’s just a way to charge you more money if you are not satisfied with your current purchase ( or like in my case where your purchase constantly breaks and you want a replacement)

Great resource for used mattresses!

Over 30 years in business, billions in generated revenue, non-existent customer service leaves one to wonder how this company continues to grow. After running into an issue with my employment due to the pandemic, I would be subjected first hand to some of the iniquitous business practices. I have record of my attempts to contact their coustomer service in regard to the insurance protection on my rental. The online messages were viewed, but never acknowledged. I have an entire folder of "you have the RAC guarantee to have a response in 48 hours" to which no response ever came.
Trying to deal with an issue on receiving my unemployment benefits and the daily phone calls of " we need to know when you will make a payment" I relented to sleeping on the floor if they needed my used mattress to re-sale that terribly.
After submitting my issue to the Better Business Burearu, I was forwarded a copy of the letter their "legal team" submitted in regard to my situation. This letter was was a personal attack on my personal financial situation and my character but above all, none of it was true. I couldn't believe what was written and submitted by the RAC legal team! With all of my documentation, I challlenged them to support one single claim made in this letter! Once again, no response.
This company preys on convienience. After researching the company during my battle to save my mattress, the number of complaints against the company and their practices are over-whelming. The closer a person gets to actually owning their rental, the more aggressive the "re-claim" process. Watching the youtube videos of what lengths they go in order to reclaim used merchandise speaks volumes as to the commitment they have to their customers.
They are quick to say "our practices are within the laws of each state" because on a moral compass there is no justification for how they threaten, harrass, ignore and demean their customers.

I lost my job and needed extra time to…

I lost my job and needed extra time to make a payment so I ask for upcoming Saturday it was ok but with late fee, ok on Friday I started to getting phone calls back to back even though I was stressed and hurt due to my step sons funeral I called on Saturday and ask to please hold it to Monday due to the funeral stress and the manager Brian from Renton store in Washington state wouldn't have it and wanted to schedule pick up on Monday so I said ok but when you guys open on Monday I will call the payment in and the pick up can be canceled that's when he said , no I wont accept any payments from you on Monday, WOW please people be aware of the scams rent a center does to people, go on offer up and can get better quality stuff for quarter of the price at rent a center.

Bought a bedroom set from rent a center…

Bought a bedroom set from rent a center 490 a broadway yonkers. The bed foundation broke due to poor assembling from their workmen, i call the store manager Ben he told me my bed set was still within the warranty he will order a replacement give him 2wks. Later I got a notification from my bank about a charge on my account for $150 by rent a center. I call the store and spoke to Ben the manager asking why my account was charged the said amount. He claim on order to place the order he apologize and will refund the amount. At the same time I was interested in getting a deep freeze from him, and he told me he will search to see if they have any. Moving forward 2wks came by i called still no update on the bed foundation, following week i call he is on vocation. I kept calling every week finally i got him on the phone he said he need me to send him a picture of the bed foundation he offer to give me a bed foundation until he get the correct replacement. They brought a metallic frame that you could pickup at a corner store on top of that i have to use a stool to get on the bed. I call him the following morning asking why he send me a spring foundation. He told me that it is temporary until he receive the order. I kept calling every week for update, he is either not in or he is off and they will relate the message for him to return the call. Finally i call again the same week he took the call. I said to Ben, i have been patient with you for the past couple of weeks and every time i call it is a different scenario where is the foundation? He then responded that the warranty is now up and he cannot get the frame as the manufacturer stop making that type of frame and my only option is to purchase another bed the audacity. On top of that he charge my card for the metallic spring of a foundation without telling me that he is charging me for a temporary spring. These people are a set of thieves. After they kept spinning me in circles their purpose was to keep giving me false information until the warranty was up. I call the head office to file a complaint their district manager apologize for the inconvenience and telling me there is nothing he can do about it been that the warranty was up and that i should have file a complaint prior the expired date. I said to him that the store manager already agreed to replaced the item why would i file a complaint if he showed interest in fixing the problem? Pedro the district manager claim he apologize once more and the only option his to send a "AY" company to look at the foundation and see what they could replace it with. It's been another two week trying to get to this district manage Pedro I call so many time all i kept hearing i must wait 48hrs from last week and prior to now still no phonecall still no resolution to the matter my $1500 went into thin air.

Worst service

We got a side by side refrigerator and they damaged it bringing in house, tried to call about it and never got a call back. Worst service ever, high payments. We gave it back.

Anthony Freitas the delivery guy.

Anthony Freitas was the delivery guy that brought me my replacement washier and drier and TV. Outstanding customer service, on time, very knowledgeable and forth coming with any info I ask. If I use rent a center again it is souly on his behalf. Thank you Anthony, your a hell of a ol boy.

Good Bye for Being Dishonest…

I have been a customer at Rent A Center for over 10 years, I have purchased and paid off several items, a couple of computers, beds and so on from the Rosenberg, Texas store. A couple of years ago, I purchased a Sectional Sofa on the "Pay and Swap" plan. I paid extra each month on this plan, and when the Sofa was paid off, we could turn it in and we would be given a new set. Well, just as I thought, when it was paid off, the stall tactics began!! First it was delayed due to the Pandemic. I would call every other month to check and still Nothing. I even agreed to pay over $ 500 for a new set, but nothing! It was to much to ask, even for a phone call once a month to keep me informed. The store workers were good at explaining that the final decision was up to Jason the manager. Later Levi, one store worker, helped me to understand, it was never going to happen as I was promised. Well, thanks for taking my money on a used Sofa, and for charging me extra. For the 10 plus years that I was a customer, I never missed a payment! You no longer have me as your valued Customer. Good Bye Thomas Kuykendall

Store #03033 gets a great big hats…

Store #03033 gets a great big hats off!!!!This store has taken phenomenal care of us and our furniture needs… As opposed to Aarons furniture;who has given us nothing but rhetoric and sold us furniture that was anything but quality… The delivery men (alan&Easton) were exceptional,on time and caring… Was truly a great experience… You go rentacenter!!!!

I rented a recliner at Apopka

I rented a recliner at Apopka, FL location on a Thursday and was told delivery would be Monday by noon. Did the contract and paid for 1 month rental. Needed it for my husband who had open heart surgery. I informed them about why I wanted a rental. Monday comes around and I call at 10am they tell me that they just got into the office and window for delivery was between 12 to 2 pm. Called about 1130 ish and the employee informed that he put a call to driver and he would call me back when he got a response. Called at 130pm was informed that the managers husband tested positive for Covid and I had to make arrangements to pick up the recliner. My husband was ready for discharge from the hospital at 100pm. They refused to refund me immediately informed that receipts will be mailed and cash refund will be mailed per manager instructions. Employee also stated ‘you will not be the first one to make a complaint’ and started laughing. He was not representing the mission or the vision of the company. Very poor customer service and I would be cautious on renting anything from this location.

This has been the worst experience…

This has been the worst experience ever! I had warranty and had had only few months left to pay off 390.00 balance! Wouldnt fix to replace tv Covid-19 hit I lost job and close family and they refused to be compassionate and wait for payment they harassed me on the day of the funeral!! What was 390.00 balance turned out me paying interest, late fees of 300 more! Every month goes up 75 with my payment!! Please never ever rent there. Plus walmart had the same exact tv for 400.00 i payed 2000! plus +the interest etc!! This has been hard year Thanks Rent a center No Help!

Have ordered twice from the Muscle…

Have ordered twice from the Muscle Shoals store, promised a delivery time, and they have never met the delivery time, staff apparently doesn't know what is going on, one says its on the way, call again almost a hour later they say truck just left, not a way to do business!

Customer Service & Quality👎🏾👎🏾

I’ve dealt with rent a center before but it was the Hayward location and being that they moved I decided to go with the Redwood City location. Worst decision EVER! The staff is very unprofessional and clueless! I was delivered a couch that had to be put together, which was fine but one of the pieces was broken. I called and asked for a replacement piece and was given attitude from the store manager CLAUDIA! Never in my life have I been told by and employee or manager “ well like I said!” Or “well what do you want me to do?” or even “well I haven’t been here so I don’t know what happened!” She sent the piece, I put the piece on and still wasn’t able to put the couch together! At this time I was over it, I had the couch maybe 2 weeks and couldn’t use one side of it. I called CLAUDIA and explained my frustration and again was given attitude saying, “well we’re not a short term rental company!” Instead of her asking what she could do to try and solve the problem she places me on hold and then proceeds to tell me that they will pick the couch up, I agree with the date and time and hang up. I never received a call saying they were on their way to retrieve the couch or anything, if someone says they will be there before 12pm a call would be great! I call the store again and I get CLAUDIA once again and explain that they never came to pick up the couch, she then says “yah they did, but nobody answered!” We exchange words and schedule another date. It has now been a month and they will be here tomorrow to collect the couch. I honestly have never been treated so poorly by a company on my life. A complete waste of my time and my money and will NEVER do business with this company EVER again!

Ridiculous.cant even start an account…

Ridiculous.cant even start an account with them because i live 8 miles out of the range of rutlands delivery and 10 miles from plattaburghs.called rutland store and they arent willing to go that extra couple miles for a customer.

I purchased a queen size bed with…

I purchased a queen size bed with mattress and its been two days and the mattress is lumpy and keeps sinking to the floor when I sit on it. I'm a big girl but I'm not that big were the mattress can't hold me. They say let the mattress expand but it hasn't expanded yet. The mattress is not even touching the bed post, there's too much space in between. There is a big dent in the middle of the mattress, its like sleeping in a big hole. I don't know what to do about this. They gonna have to replace the mattress because I am not paying for something that I can't use.
