This rental company hire to insurance companies after a client has been in a crash. They text the accident victim to ring them on what turns out to be a premium rate 0843/0844 number often incurring £5/6 per call on the seemingly four or five calls needed to hire the car. Disgusting.
So... I'm really suprised for so many bad reviews this company have.
So... I'm really suprised for so many bad reviews this company have. I just return from Cyprus where I rent from them a small car via economycarrentals for a week and everything was great. The persons who work there are kind and helpfull, the car was in good condition (kia picanto), and there were none additional costs.

Don’t blame the Enterprise staff for having no cars. Enterprise branches are all about occupancy the company term is sitting tight. So the staff are right they may not have cars. As for sales tactics if offering you products to reduce your liability is a problem then I am sure getting charged the full whack for damage will really please you. Your renting a car not a dvd so if recommending products to help you is a problem? Maybe a bus pass might be better for you. The cover car rental company’s offer is real protection not like the cover brokers offer which is just reimbursement policy in short no a guaranteed pay out at all. It’s cheap for a reason folks.
Wow i didn’t think enterprise would …
Wow i didn’t think enterprise would have so many bad reviews. I won’t keep mine to myself anymore. I had the worst customer services with enterprise and i would never go back to use this business. I live in Houston and during the hurricane Harvey i lost my car in the flood. My insurance set me up with enterprise and i got a car from them. We didn’t check the car around to see if anything is wrong with it because it was raining really bad and everyone had to get home because the hurricane was going back around and it was about to hit us again. I get home with the rental car and the car shut down in the middle of the street and i couldn’t turn it back on. I called enterprise and couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Called enterprise customer services they told me to get the car towed and not to worry about it. I did as i was told then when we finally got free from the hurricane i went to the enterprise location where i rented the car from and ask them if they can switch me to a different one. They told me that no one reported the car and i am responsible for the one i already have. I told them what happened and told them where the car has been towed to. Did anyone took care of that NOPE. I went there for two weeks straight and no one cared. I was without a car and without a home since i lost my house as welll. I finally got someone from enterprise to go get the car at the towing company because they were calling me everyday to get that car out but yet enterprise supposedly couldn’t get a hold of them. They were just lying to me every day on top of everything else i was going through without a home and without a car. They finally got the car and then they charged my credit card $500 because they claimed the car flooded by me when enterprise had thousands of cars flooded a day before i rented a car from them. Not only they blamed me for the car but they are trying to charge me 15 days rental because the car set at the towing company because enterprise didn’t want to take care of that when i reported 24 hr after the car got towed and they told me not to worry about. I called customer service and told them to pull the recorded conversation i had when i reported the car broke down and when the enterprise employee told me to get it towed and not to worry about. They said of course and we will call you back. Have i heard from them? NO another broken promise but they keep charging my credit card. Way to go enterprise doing this to people in Houston that lost everything and they don’t have money to get their life back to normal. The worst company ever a bunch of liars, scams, selfish and they don’t really care what your problem is they just want your money and find any way to blame you for everything so you can give them more money. Never again
Enterprise Unilaterally Cancels A Confirmed Rental Booking After Business Hours Leaving Their Customer Stranded
I have booked a Large Compact car from Enterprise for collection from the Barnstaple Branch at 8.00 a.m. tomorrow morning in my wife's name. I am speaking at a Conference in Birmingham tomorrow and need to leave Barnstaple by 8.30 am. at the latest to make the Conference. I am being driven by my wife so that I can work in the car and prepare for the Conference. I have just been phoned by an unnamed lady (at 6.25p.m.) to tell me that there is no car available for me to take. I explained that I have made a booking, paid for the car and received an email informing me that the reservation had been confirmed. She told me that Enterprise do not regard the booking as definite even though I had received confirmation. She stated that Enterprise as a matter of policy overbooked their cars in the expectation that there would be cancellations but unfortunately there had been no cancellation. I was extremely surprised and distressed by the phone call because I have an important Conference to attend (at which I am speaking) and I have been given no time to make alternative arrangements. I am staggered by the indifference of Enterprise staff and by the fact that this is apparently a policy of Enterprise i.e. to accept bookings, take payment and confirm bookings without having a car available.
The indifference of Enterprise staff is staggering. It is 6.30 in the evening and the wait until now to tell me that the car I have booked for collection at 8.00 a.m. tomorrow morning is not available and they cannot provide any alternative car. Extraordinary indifference by a company, extraordinary discourtesy by a member of their staff.
With each car hire got worse
With each car hire got worse
I couldn't return to them if they paid me. If you use their online reservation portal out of convenience, you still end up talking to them because you can't complete the booking for a matter of reasons. Try get past the hard sales tactic trying to get you to take out almost all the extra policies on offer, racking up your bill, when it comes to picking up the car from your nearest branch, you are taken through the same pushy sales tactics to get more money out of you. Preying on your most primal fears of being in a car smash on the motorway or falling victim of a malicious car attack overnight where you would pay for everything from tyres, wheels, bodywork, windscreen etc.
The last car hire I had actually resulted in me terminating the progress of the contract prior to signing and taking the car, purely down to one of the Enterprise office staff getting involved with my conversation with another member of staff and persisted in telling me I'm wrong about this that and anything else he cared to prat on about while ignoring his own customer.
The vehicle on offer for hire was dirty, unclean, footwells still filled with dirt on the carpets from the last customer.
There rates for even their cheapest vehicles on a day's hire is more than double the money of some fellow car hire competitors, which I ultimately ended up going to. Would never use again.
I stress this is Enterprise car hire from the West Midlands, UK and not the US region.
Can't complain to be honest..
Can't complain to be honest... Have rented a couple of times now and they're the cheapest and simply get the job done...
Three Strikes Enterprise is Out
This is a case of a great company gone downhill. I have chosen Enterprise over the years but with the last three reservations, they had no cars. They overbook so much that it is virtually impossible for the branch staff to have vehicles. There is never an excuse not to have a vehicle that they accept a reservation for. Now I rent locally and they always have the vehicle. Three strikes, you are now out, Enterprise.

I reserved a car for 8 days online. The guy was so nice. He first approved and got the driver licence and credit card to process. After a while, a lady (probably the manager) came and declined service as though she had promised to give the car with the rate I had reserved to someone else! She offered me a higher rate and cancelled my reservation. When I opposed, she even refused service and cancelled my reservation. I have submitted a complaint and asked my employer to review and revise the contract with Enterprise. I am sorry to say that but their customer service was poor, unprofessional and she treated us in a rude arrogant manner. I would give their awful service a ZERO star.
AVOID Enterprise car rental at Marseille Airport - scammmers
Like many others leaving reviews on Trustpilot, I had the worst car rental experience ever at Enterprise/Alamo office at Marseille airport last week which has left me to date with deductions to my credit card of €850 for pre-existing damage not caused by me. To make matters worse, I had to change cars midweek due to a fault and they are now trying to retrospectively charge me again having taken the car back when I exchanged. Summary: I was told car 1 was fine with no damage but on my inspection I found considerable and unmissable damage to the passenger side panels which was greeted with "oh we did not know that was there" - yeah right. damage is noted on contract. Car 1 develops a fault so it was exchanged for car 2 at 7.30am, so quite dark, and in the pouring rain when it is difficult to see bodywork issues. I was again assured by the always smiling sweetly staff that there was no damage. Guess what? On my return of car 2, the check in man, smiling sweetly because that makes it alright, went straight to an obviously old scratch low on the front wing which he claimed was caused by me which it most certainly was not. My inspection in the rain had failed to pick out the scratch so I had to pay the full excess there and then to pay for the repair (which will never happen) with a promise that within 90 days I would receive the balance. Fortunately I had excess insurance otherwise it would have been very costly. Incredibly they then said that the damage to car 1 was more than noted on the contract so I would have to pay again but this time for car 1 for damage I pointed out at the time! You could not make it up. They then smiled and looked sad and said they understood it was hard but they were the rules. I refused to pay and I will not pay if they pursue me further. As I said, I have insurance but this is now about dishonesty and fraud so I am prepared to defend my principle if necessary. In addition, to rub salt into the wound, they invoiced me twice on separate occasions for a child seat due, apparently, to an "administrative error". I was assured that a refund had been processed but guess what again - it has not! Learnings - do NOT rent from Enterprise / Alamo; if their lips move, they are lying despite the smiles and handshakes; take videos and photos of the entire car including wheels; if it is dark, ask them for lights; if it is wet, ask them to dry the car; buy excess insurance; and finally, rent from someone else! What they are doing illegal so where is our so called consumer protection? You could not make it up. Happy renting!!
THIEVES
THIEVES, worst SCAM COMPANY!!! We rented a car in Nice international airport. We went through the car with the agent to check for previous damages. We pointed our several small scratches but was ensured they were too small to matter according to the measurement tool. When we returned the car we were suddenly accused of the same damages that we pointed out when we were provided the car. Even though we had foto documentation of the damages from the day we picked it up, the agent receiving wouldn't listen. I have never felt so scamed by any company before, but enterprise car-rental is obviously just in the business to steal from people! We reported the incident immediately the customor service but no reply and no one picks up the phone. Also I were ensured by Arnaud, the agent receiving the car that, they would be in contact with the decision on our complaint, but that was also a lie. Never heard anything. The day after we returned the car, I was charged the extra €600 for damages. Totally ending up paying €850 for a minor scratch I was ensured was to small to matter. Lesson is, use a different car-rental and never trust anyone. Make a live-video from the moment you start going through the car with agent!!!.
DISGUSTING SERVICE
DISGUSTING SERVICE - 100% SCAMMERS STEALING MONEY.
When we received our car in Nice airport we pointed out some damages on the car, to the guy giving os the keys. He told us several times that it was NOT a problem and that we did not need to worry about the damages. Since we had waited for about 2 hours to get the car, we were stupid enough to trust the employee. When we returned the car, they pointed out the damages and have now charged us 850 euros, for damages that WE DID NOT DO. UTTERLY DISGUSTING way to scam people for Money. DO NOT EVER RENT A CAR THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!!!!
Car Rental at Heathrow Airport
I rented a 9 seats car from Alamo (via RentalCars.com) from 27 May to 8 Jun 2017 at Heathrow Airport. It was Enterprise rent-a-car handled the administrative work for the rental. The car insurance has an excess amount of GBP500 which I paid up front.
I returned the car on 8 Jun, 0741 with a dent but the paint work still perfectly intact. It was clearly stated in the Vehicle Accident Report “a dent to the OSR of the vehicle above the wheel arch" issued by Enterprise rent-a-car when the vehicle was returned. I did not even notice the dent as it was really very small. The staff told me it was likely hit by another car parked beside me.
When I received the refund from Enterprise of the excess amount on 17 Jun via my credit card, I was shocked that it was only GBP 28.50, ie the repair costs for a small dent was GBP471.50. I did not receive any statement on the repair charges. Followed my queries on the exorbitantly high repair costs, some pictures of the car taken on 9 Jun (one day after the car was returned) were sent to me. I was very angry to see that some pictures showing other serious damages to the car (other than a small dent). I then realized that I was bearing the repair costs for other serious damages caused by someone from 8 Jun 0741 to 9 Jun.
Again, I communicated with Enterprise requested them to investigate the case. Their reply was that the vehicle was not damage when I took over, so the damages were caused by me! It is ridiculous! Why should I be responsible for damages caused by others? I appealed again on 12 Aug to request for acceptable explanations or to reduce the repair costs significantly. I also indicated that this issue is still outstanding since I first communicated with them on 8 Jul and I do not wish to drag it further. I requested for reply by 16 Aug before some other appropriate actions are taken. To date, no answer from Enterprise. Where is the justice to a tourist to UK?
Great company to deal with {Malaga}
Great company to deal with {Malaga}, car was spotless with very little damage. They gave us 6 bottles of water for us to drink on arrival.
The car was returned to them and we received a full refund of the £1000 waiver, we had our own insurance.
Never had problems
I've rented cars from Enterprise (Through Rentalcars) several times at Billund airport, Denmark and have never had any problems
LIHUE, KAUAI = Honest staff members
I am very GRATEFUL to the LIHUE, KAUAI staff of Enterprise Rent a Car! On Jun-30-2017 @ 6:15pm we returned the rental car, unfortunately once in the airplane, I realized I left my headphones (in it's case plus charging and audio cables) in the bottom center counter of the car. I immediately submitted a lost item report and I also called the Lihue office to let them know about it. On Jul-11-2017 I got a notification that my headphones were found! Today, Jul-17-2017, I got my headphones back! (in it's case plus the cables) I appreciate immensely the help, patience and most of all the honesty of the Lihue Staff members. Thank you so much! You have a client for ever!
Thieves!
Hired a car at Eindhoven Airport at enterprise rent-a-car this March. It was raining, so the windscreen was wet. After leaving the car park and swiping the windscreen I got the sight of a tiny, almost invisible scratch on it. Brought back the car immediately. Three weeks later they charged 350 euros for the 'damage'. Since then I've sent cca. 15 e-mails in the topic, no answer. I'm a frequent traveller, hired cars in many different countries but this gang is the worst ever. Avoid them, they will find the way to take your money!!!
My experience was smooth and positive
My experience was smooth and positive! But, overall the guy who attended me was a 10 in Customer Service
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND I DIDN'T EVEN RENT!
Rented a car to someone else in my name so I got their speeding fine. Enterprise did nothing to fix this til I took it to arbitration and are still trying to charge me the admin fee.
If I could give this company zero stars …
If I could give this company zero stars for customer service, I would.
In May, my partner and I rented a car from Enterprise subsidiary Alamo in Munich airport, Germany. It was rented for one week from 13 May and returned to Nuremberg airport on 21 May. We booked the car online and paid for it at the time, but when we got to Munich we were charged a €250 deposit plus the rental amount of €262 at the same time. We thought the whole amount was the deposit for the car. But Enterprise only returned €250 to us, so they have essentially charged us the rental amount of €262 twice for no good reason other than an administrative error.
When we questioned this, however, the company said they have no record of this. We sent them copies of the bank statement showing that the money had gone out twice and not come back. We called the Munich office about this and they assured us they will deal with this, but no response. I then had to resort to commenting on social media about this, and a representative in the UK promptly got in touch and said they would pass this on to the German office as a matter of priority. Nothing happened for a week after this. I then reminded the representative, who called himself David, that we are waiting and have heard nothing and that we need our money back as a matter of urgency. He said he would pass this message on. Once again, it has been nearly another week since then and we have had nothing at all from the German office, no communication whatsoever.
These people are keeping our money, which they have taken by mistake, and doing absolutely nothing about sorting this out. David assures me that it takes longer because it is an international office, but I do not believe for a second, in this day and age, that it takes OVER TWO WEEKS to respond to a query made online by someone in England about a service received in a German office. That is a terrible excuse and an appalling level of customer service.
As I have already told David, I will be going to the Financial Ombudsman next week if I don't happen to hear something back from these fraudsters by the end of this week. So incredibly disappointed!
My advice NEVER RENT FROM ENTERPRISE OR ALAMO! I certainly won't be. If there are no mistakes in your case and everything goes smoothly, you will probably go on here and comment about how great your experience was. But as soon as something as little as what happened to us goes wrong, you will regret it, because you won't be able to get your money out of them, or even get any decent communication.
