Overall good
Car owner was responsive on Whatsapp. Due to a cancelled flight, they brought the car to my hotel which was very convenient and helpful. The car was slightly different than described (diesel not gas, no nav) but was in good mechanical condition, but very high mileage and dirty interior. Return was easy, someone met at the airport

À scam !
Hi,
as shown in the previous voucher, we were supposed to pay 14.69 euros by credit card for our order of a VW Polo at "Rent from locals" in Tirana airport.
But in fact, our account has been debited on October 28, without any explanation, of 93.12 euros !
We call this a scam, or illegal financial maneuver.
In these lawless conditions, we don't want to go any further with your tricksters' company.
On top of this manifest theft, the rent conditions have never been respected.
- We found the car in the airport parking thanks to several messages, and there was absolutely NOBODY to present the car and show us how to use it.
- Moreover, there was NOBODY at the airport WHEN WE RETURNED THE CAR !
- We discovered that the car had already 223 000 km, that it worked on LPG Gas, a fuel that we don't use and don't know, and NOBODY told us how to handle it.
- The shock absorbers were tired and lazy, luggage cover was not the proper one and we could not use it.
- The tires were too used, just as the windshield wipers, and we experienced aquaplaning several times ( we had to drive under heavy rains ! ... )
- The security belts alarm was constantly ringing, although all belts were securely fastened, and we could not silence it.
- The lightning system was very complex and noone explained it to us ... etc. etc. etc.
For all these technical reasons, for the lack of safety, for the absence of any responsible person when taking the car and when returning it, and for the global dysfunction of "Rent from locals",
we firmly advise everyone against this dishonest firm.

Thank you for your message. We have fully reviewed your case, including all payment records and all communication with the car owner.
First, regarding the alleged charge of 93.12 euros:
You have not been charged this amount by Rent From Locals or by the owner. The only payment ever collected from you is the 14.69 euros, exactly as shown on your voucher.
In addition, your booking was made on November 6th, which makes it impossible for us to have charged you anything on October 23rd. We encourage you to contact your bank and dispute the supposed charge, because we are certain that no such transaction exists from our side.
It is also important to mention that this claim appeared only after the end of the rental and was used as a reason not to pay for the service you received. The owner decided not to pursue the outstanding amount, which means you effectively used the car free of charge.
Regarding the comments about pick up and drop off:
You received clear instructions for both pick up and return through the platform, and no issue was reported at the time. If anything had been unclear, we or the owner could have assisted you immediately.
As for the comments about the condition of the vehicle, none of these points were communicated to us or to the owner during your rental. As stated in our policy, any problem must be reported when it occurs so the owner can intervene or replace the car. Reporting issues only after completing the rental is not considered valid.
False accusations affect small local providers whose income depends on their cars. To protect them, your account and related information will no longer be allowed to book on our platform.
We hope you still enjoyed your visit to Albania.

We had a car from Amarildo respectively Besi from Auto Zvicra. We highly appreciate that we obtained exactly the same car as we ordered (not that usual at big car rental companies). Deposit from a credit cart was not necessary. The pickup and drop-off process a few meters from the airport terminal was straightforward. Our car, Suzuki SX4, performed well in both the city and the local villages (a 4x4 can be usefull in Albania). Communication with Besi was perfect, he provided us with a full assistance. We really recommend those professional guys!

The car reservation went without any…
The car reservation went without any problems. Unfortunately, there were problems when picking up the car. Payment by card did not work (when booking, I looked for a rental car where it was possible to pay by card). So I had to go to an ATM - it cost me time and withdrawal fees. The person handing over the car took part of the payment in euros at an unfavorable exchange rate for us. The car was supposed to be full, but in reality it was 1/4 of the tank. The return was without any problems.
