Scammy Policies and Zero Transparency – Beware!
I strongly advise against booking through RentingCarz.com. Their business model relies on unclear policies and hidden small print that only show up after you’ve already paid.
I booked a car and tried to cancel immediately, only to find out they keep 20% of your reservation no matter what. This is nowhere clearly stated at the moment of purchase. You only discover it later, buried in the fine print of the voucher they send after they’ve already charged your card. That alone says everything about how this company operates.
I canceled because the prepaid voucher didn’t even confirm that the rental was fully paid, which strongly suggests you’ll be charged again at pickup — and who knows how much! A company that can’t clearly state what you’re actually paying for is not one you should trust with your travel plans or your money.
There are not enough honest reviews warning people about this company, so I’m simply stating the facts to help others avoid the trouble I went through. What looks like a great deal ends up being a trap: non-transparent terms, unclear charges, and a guaranteed loss of money even when no service is provided.
There are plenty of reputable rental car platforms out there — RentingCarz is NOT one of them. You’ve been warned.

0. I have been waiting on a deposit back. I paid 500 dls as deposit, 1 month and still not back on my account. Súper hard to find support as there is no number to call. They don’t answer emails, they don’t care. Don’t use this. Go to another company.

Wrong place reservation, be aware
I made a reservation for one location, but it was confirmed for another. This happened at Basel Airport (BSL), where there are Hertz branches for both France and Switzerland. I booked for the Swiss side, paid in advance, and when I contacted Hertz, they said the reservation was for the French side, even though the voucher clearly showed the Swiss side. I contacted Rentingcarz, who said they would try to resolve the error, but they couldn't and said I would have to pay almost double the price I had already paid to get what they had promised on the voucher. I know there can be confusion, but the website offered the option of BSL with both countries. I chose the Swiss side, so why did they book the French side if it wasn't correct? I would only find out at the last minute and would have to use a car that, on the date I chose, could cause problems for me because cars rented in Switzerland have winter tires and a Swiss vignette, and those rented in France do not. At least that's how it is with Hertz.

Yes, I received the refund. However, when I originally booked, there were other options available on the Swiss side that were only €150 more expensive. Now I can’t find those options anymore, and the proposal you are making is to pay double. I believe you should honor what was stated in the voucher, and I am not responsible for any alleged error on your side. Just imagine if I arrived after a 16‑hour trip and suddenly discovered that the car could not go where I needed, or that I had to pay an extra fee which at that moment could be even higher. Fortunately, I decided to check directly with Hertz to make sure everything was correct, since I was not familiar with the company Rentingcarz.
