the restaurant choice gift card scAM
The card said it was good at four different restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings. I went there today, and it would not come up at all for server. My son tried pulling it up on his phone and nothing. I looked it up online and some said it is a scam. Expiration 05/28
They’re a scam and do not work in restaurants - do not buy!
The voucher website is not correct and reverts to a website called giftcardstore.
We tried to use in Zizzi’s and it would not swipe or work.
The website does not let you redeem it.
The contact numbers ring out.
Do not buy!!!
They eat your money
Card expires after 12 months of purchase. SO if you don't use the card within 12 months of its purchase they just eat your money.
Don not buy a Restaurant Card!
I assume this is the same as The Restaurant Card. Do not buy one. So limited in where you can spend it. Impossible to contact them by phone or email. An absolute scam if you ask me. My daughter in law wasted £50of her hard earned money!
This is a legalised scam!
My colleagues all contributed some money for my birthday and got me a Restaurant Choice card. It unfortunately expired and when I called the company to extend the card, they told me that my money was now theirs to keep!!!! Disgusting. This clearly is a scam!?
Do Not Purchase these Cards for anyone
I was given a Restaurant gift card for the 1st time a few years ago, I tried to use this in a food establishment and it did not work, so I paid for the meal. I was then given as a gift another card sometime ago now, and on the 9th June 2023, I tried checking the balance online, however it requires a passcode etc which I do not have or you have to log in, again, it was a gift, I do not have these details. I emailed the company to ask about the balance and sent them the digit details and information displayed on the reverse of the card, I got an email a reply this morning, saying the card does not belong to them and case closed! I have since emailed them again, with a photo of the card to explain that in my view the case is not closed. So in my experience I think it is useful for some people to know that giving cash to someone for a gift is better than purchasing a "Restaurant Choice card" The hassle and issues I have encountered with this company are not worth it especially when it is supposed to be a "GIFT CARD"
Clearly a scam
As with the other reviews, the card is clearly a con. Received as a gift, had a meal at Pizza Express and the card doesnt work. How are they still trading ?
Same as everyone else
Same as everyone else. Have just found out though that these cards have been discontinued and replaced with Restaurant Favourite cards. Apparently replacements over a tenner will be subject to a 50% fee!
Absolute con was given a card as a gift…
Absolute con was given a card as a gift tried using it on 3 occasions and was unable to use it tried to extend the card as the 12 months was almost up and I was told i could have 50% of the value back disgusting and pointless card please give people cash rather than these cards !!!!!!
my son gave me a restaurant card for…
my son gave me a restaurant card for christmas tried to use it in toby carvery yesterday ,the woman said it declined so ended up paying .. im going to try use it today in a few more places . see if i have luck with it .
This was given to us as a gift and both…
This was given to us as a gift and both times we tried to use it, it wouldn't work. We have now looked online and it is out of date. They only last for a year, apparently, so what a rip off. This is just a way of stealing people's money. Don't buy this...give cash instead!
Do not buy this card
Do not buy this card. I went to use the card and it had expired even though it’s stated on the card the expiry date is 2024, when I rang I got a very rude person, they said the card expires in 12 month yet on the website it says they expire in 3 years, total rip off, I’m still trying to fight my case.
Bad gift idea
Was bought this card as a gift however by the time we were able to use it, it had expired. 12 months from
Date of purchase is just not enough, particularly in our post covid world. it is not clear to the recipient that you only have 12 months to use it. Very disappointed, certainly would not buy one as a gift myself.
Had 2x £25 gift cards that expired…
Had 2x £25 gift cards that expired during Covid. Rang customer services who were very polite and helpful but only got 50% of value put onto a new card - better than nothing I suppose!
However, I think that expire of cards in the last 3 years should have been treated as exceptional circumstances due to Covid and they should of transfer 100% (minus admin costs) onto a new card
Basically same issue as all the other…
Basically same issue as all the other reviews - don’t buy this card as a gift as you end up not being able to use it and it’s embarrassing when you go to use it to pay for a meal and it gets declined. Card was a Xmas gift which we were unable to use. Complete con and rip off. Tried contact numbers and online balance check (even though I knew it had credit) and surprise surprise none of it worked.
Took the family to Nando's
Took the family out for a meal to Nando's hoping to use the Gift cards purchased for us at Christmas. Ordered food tried to use cards but it didn't work, the lad behind the till tried several times but still did not work, ended up us paying a bill for £65 which we did not expect. This was supposed to be a treat not damage to our bank account. I called the company to see if the issue could be resolved but they said it was down to Nando's to sort. If it was just me and my husband then we would have left but as we were there with our children and friends this would have been extremely embarrassing. Not a good situation all round. We've ended up with a gift card that we will now probably not use as we do not want to be put in this situation again. Neither parties wanted to take responsibility, appalling DO NOT GET THIS CARD there are many others out there that are better with good aftercare service
Exactly the same Issue as everyone else…
Exactly the same Issue as everyone else appears to have had, card expired with £40 balance. 12 months isn't long enough. It should be made clear at the time of purchase that this is the case.
Disappointing. Definitely would not recommend purchasing!
Really only 12 months
Was given a gift card as a present and likewise was somewhat surprised to see the gift card had an expiry date of 12 months. Not sure when it was purchased and with the recent lockdowns we’ve had in the last 24 months they did offer 50% but have declined this. Won’t ever purchase one of their gift cards for a present myself.
Called their customer services who were friendly but dislike their 12 month policy especially following events of recent times.
Expires after 12months!
Surprised to discover the gift card had a 12 month expiration- from the purchase date, not from when I received it! Unfortunately I was 2 and a half months beyond it. I phoned customer services, got through quickly and they were helpful, but only offered 50% of the balance back on a new card. Better than nothing, but I wouldn’t recommend these cards as a gift.
My wife and i went to Cafe Rouge…
My wife and i went to Cafe Rouge Cheshire Oaks for breakfast Sat 10/12/22.
With a £25 gift card. Unused and expires 02/25 well within date.
Expecting to have to pay around only £5-£10 extra.
The gift card was declined at till so we had to pay around £33 , not great with run up to Christmas and an unexpected £20+ out of my account.
Really unhappy as this is not the first time a gift card within date and with full balance has been declined once we've asked for the bill at the end.
Will not recommend this voucher to anyone what so ever .
