Reviewers have less control over their reviews than the companies they review
I left a negative review of a repair company on REVIEWS.io and later needed to update it. I hadn't created an account, as the site only asked me to verify my email.
Their support bot told me I could edit or remove it by creating an account with the same email. I asked for a person to confirm. The agent told me "only the account owner can update it", meaning the company I'd reviewed, and that I should contact them. When I asked them to delete it instead, they said "Unfortunately we can't, they will remove or moderate it themselves".
So their own staff's advice was to ask a company I'm in a dispute with to edit my negative review of them. Their other suggestion was to flag my own review so that company would be notified.
The bot turned out to be right. I created an account, removed the review and used "Remove My Data". My dashboard now shows nothing. It disappeared from the public page later that day.
In my opinion, this is consumer-hostile. Their agent told me the company, not the author, decides whether a review changes or comes down, and readers have no way to tell what's been moderated.

Did not work for bundled products, and no refund after ten months of charges
We run a Shopify Plus store where most of our products are sold as bundles. We signed up for Reviews.io in September 2024 for two specific reasons: product specific review requests and a post purchase survey. Neither worked for us.
The review request emails went out for the individual component SKUs inside each bundle, not the bundle the customer actually bought. Those component items are not visible anywhere on our site, so the review requests made no sense to customers and any product review widgets would have shown reviews on the wrong products. The post purchase survey widget could not be styled to match our branding at checkout, which their team told us is a Shopify limitation. That is fair, but it should have been disclosed before we bought.
To their credit, our customer success contact was responsive and polite throughout. We gave their team collaborator access to our Shopify store, they opened support tickets, and the answer that came back was that our bundle products needed a Variant ID added. We had a call in June 2025 with their product team and one of our developers to go through the proposed fix, and our team concluded it was not a viable solution for how our catalog is built.
We cancelled in June 2025 and asked for a refund of the roughly ten months of charges for a tool we were never able to use for its intended purpose. The refund was declined because we were on a monthly plan. We followed up again in June 2026 asking them to reconsider at least a partial refund and have not received a reply.
If your products are sold as bundles on Shopify, confirm in writing that the platform handles bundle level review requests before you subscribe. For a store like ours it did not.
Reviews IO is a great platform…
Reviews IO is a great platform alternative to Trustpilot who charge you extortionate amounts of money to use their service and even then it is highly limited. Reviews IO offers a cheaper and more intelligent solution and could not recommend them enough to other business owners!
Poor customer service, technical competence and communications.
First it took months to find our payment from their own bank (due they could not access it???) and all the dashboards were full of warnings of pending service disruption.
The technical support seems to be outsourced to somewhere who is not actual too technical and make basic mistakes all the time. Random people responding without reading the context.
The Wordpress plugin is a joke. It doesn't even use the same logic with reviews as their own dashboard. Not to mention the version history is maintained incorrectly (again seems like cheap outsourcing).
The technical support also accidentally deleted all reviews from one ouf our stores for weeks because they did not "see" that there where actually several stores, not one.
Grand Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
It looks completely different in the photos!!! Photos are luxurious and beautiful but I was shocked when we actually arrived. There are 12 floors, yet waiting for the two small elevators was an absolute nightmare. We sometimes waited up to 10 minutes for an elevator where only max 6 people can fit inside so we preferred taking the stairs to the 6th floor every day. The food was terrible, it was almost the same every day and completely bland and disgusting, there was hardly anything edible. As for the staff, not everyone was pleasant or friendly, some of them were rude and not helpful at all. We were there in August when it was hot, yet for the price of an all-inclusive package, they wouldn't even give us an ice cream because it wasn't within the specific serving window and they said it rudely arrogantly. The cleaners did not empty our room bin or change the bed sheets, they did not even gives us a toilet paper so I was walking through the floors to find the cleaner and ask for a toilet paper. The drinks were awful. The beer was so watered down it was undrinkable. Our flight wasn't until 9 PM, but the hotel took our room keys at 11 AM, so we had to sit on the chairs by the reception all day with our suitcases. Outside pool was small and colder than the sea so my kids preferred to go everyday to the beach rather to go to the Hotel pool. We were there for 5 days and we didn't went into the Hotel pool not even once. Bored hotel with nothing for the children or adults. The only good thing was the hotel's location, right by the beach and in the pedestrian zone near shops and stalls. I do not recommend this hotel at all for the price you can book a better holiday and hotel. Bulgarian people were rude and it was absolutely horrible on the airport as the staff scrolled eyes on us and making hate faces. Don't let the photos fool you like I did!!!!!! It's not a 4 stars hotel at all!!!!!
Looks entirely dodgy with vast number…
Looks entirely dodgy with vast number of 5* reviews.
Not possible for ordinary users to add reviews, especially if you might be inclined to leave a company a 1* or less review!
Appears to be used by companies to falsely imply good reviews that cannot be justified if they pick and choose what to show.
Avoid use TrustPilot for genuine reviews
Scam or spam?
I received an email asking me to verify a review I'd written for a retailer.
As I hadn't written a review or purchased anything from that retailer I assumed it was a scam.
Searched on google and trust pilot and found these reviews.
Seems dodgy
Extremely disappointing moderation process for retailers
We use Reviews.io to collect and display verified customer reviews on our website, and our recent experience with their moderation team has seriously made us question why we pay for the service.
A customer posted a negative review containing multiple statements that are demonstrably false. These weren't differences of opinion or a customer simply being unhappy with their experience. They were specific factual claims that we could disprove with our records.
We submitted the review for moderation and provided Reviews.io with the relevant context and evidence. They refused to remove it.
We fully expect negative reviews from time to time. That's part of running a business, and legitimate criticism should absolutely remain published. What we don't accept is the idea that a customer should be able to publish objectively false information about a business and that the platform we're paying to manage our reviews won't meaningfully intervene.
This creates an incredibly one-sided system. A customer can make damaging claims publicly, while the retailer is left to defend itself underneath the review—even when the retailer can provide documentation showing those claims aren't true.
For small businesses, reputation matters enormously. Reviews can directly influence purchasing decisions and search results. A review platform should understand the difference between protecting honest customer criticism and allowing misinformation to remain published simply because it was written by a customer.
If Reviews.io's position is essentially that virtually anything a customer writes must remain online regardless of the evidence provided by the retailer, businesses should understand that before choosing them as their review provider.
We've been a paying customer, but this experience has us seriously reconsidering that relationship.
Gardening express
Headline: Misleading "5-Year Guarantee"
Denied by Hidden Exclusions
Review:
Do not be fooled by Gardening Express's heavily advertised "5-Year Hardy Plant
Guarantee." I bought a Flamingo plant under the impression it was protected, only to have my claim denied due to restrictive exclusion policies. Their customer service makes it incredibly difficult to get a resolution, relying on rigid terms to avoid replacing failed plants.
If you buy from them, know that you are completely on your own if the plant dies. Very disappointing service, and I strongly advise potential customers to buy elsewhere.

Our web developer is also cancelling all his and his customer accounts .we have been online for over 25 years and can only describe Reviews .io as a scam

Unable to change phone number , make minor change to business name - just get a paywall.
Arrived late and feels cheap
Delivery took almost a week longer than promised. When it finally showed up, the quality was pretty bad and didn't match the description. Support wasn't much help either.
Dysfunctional
I had a problem with a company that requested I review their service on this site. But when I did I was unable to submit. I then looked for a way to contact them and it was the same..click...click....click. Nothing, nada.
Stay far away from this company
Stay far away from this company. Reviews.io is a scam with dubious business practices. My company used Reviews.io for about 6 months. When we moved to a different review platform, Reviews.io started placing fake and detrimental reviews on our company. When we contacted Review.io to ask them to remove these, they said that the “reviews” were from verified customers, which they weren’t. We stated that we have no record of those “customers” placing orders on our site, and how would Reviews.io know if they no longer had access to our Ecommerce backend. We’ve had to get legal on Reviews.io, including cyber trespassing and libel. Reviews.io said they would remove these fake reviews about our company if we signed back up with them. Complete blackmail. Once you signed up, if you decide to stop doing business with them, they try to ruin your business by creating bad, fake reviews about your company until you cave and pay them money. “Continued giving us your money or we will destroy your business”.
Paid for rich snippets feature that didn't function for 9 months — vendor admitted the issue but refused refund
The headline feature we paid for — Google rich snippets (review star ratings appearing in Google search results) — did not function for the entire 9 months we paid for the service. Despite over 700 product reviews being collected, Google's Rich Results Test consistently returned "No items detected" on our product pages, meaning no star ratings appeared in Google SERPs.
When I escalated, REVIEWS.io's Customer Support Manager confirmed in writing that their widget delivers rich snippets via client-side JavaScript injection, and that "if a page has a high volume of other JavaScript running, it can delay this execution. When that happens, Google's scraper stops processing the page before our script has a chance to load." This is a known failure mode on common Shopify themes.
The same email confirmed that a working server-side rendering method using their own "reviewscouk" product metafields exists — but it was not their default delivery, was never enabled on our account, and was never proactively offered during our 9 months of paid service.
I ultimately had to engineer the fix myself by writing a Liquid template that reads REVIEWS.io's metafields and renders the AggregateRating JSON-LD schema server-side. Following our own fix, Google Rich Results Test immediately detected valid schema and stars began appearing in SERPs. The review data was always present — only REVIEWS.io's delivery mechanism was broken.
When I requested remediation, REVIEWS.io's senior support offered "2 months at 50% off" as account credit (approximately A$165) against approximately A$1,485 paid over 9 months — roughly 11% of paid amount, in credit form. I counter-offered approximately A$990 in credit and requested they commit to deploying server-side rendering as default. Both were refused, with the response that their product "performed as expected" and that "no further offer would be made."
If rich snippets in Google search results are why you're considering REVIEWS.io, be aware that their default delivery method has a known failure mode on Shopify themes that they will not proactively warn you about, will not proactively remediate, and consider not their responsibility.
