Great & fast delivery

Great & fast delivery. The bird feeder is greatly appreciated and used by all the small birds, it is driving the squirrels crackers though because they can’t get into it haha. Trying to feed the hanger through the leaves to hang onto a branch is difficult though, so maybe you could make it so the hanger could be detached at one side and then clipped back? But other than that it’s a brilliant feeder. Definitely will recommend

Birds Don’t Like the Pest-off 3.0 Suet Pellet Feeder

I like Roamwild bird feeders but made the mistake of believing their hype and buying a Pest-off 3.0 Suet Pellet Feeder (Order No. UK300691).

I have a model 2.0 feeder which the birds empty on a regular basis, whether I fill it with suet pellets or bird seed and I followed the instructions for locating the new feeder but whatever I put in it they won’t touch it.

Support kept suggesting I give it time but if the old feeder is empty they just go elsewhere rather than tackle the ‘security’ of the new feeder.

Support’s offer to resolve the issue after 2 months? I can buy a new seed lower assembly (presumably a version 2.0) for £19.98 (delivered).

EDIT AFTER REPLY FROM ROAMWILD:

I have not removed the old feeder, I have placed the new feeder near it as recommended by your support team. Sometimes though the old feeder runs out and the birds then just go elsewhere.

I used to feed my birds with sunflower hearts in my 2.0 feeder but bought suet pellets as a trial. They loved them and had no trouble eating from the 2.0. I bought the 3.0 as it was designed to use with pellets while I could continue to use the 2.0 for other food. When the birds would not feed from the 3.0, to experiment, I filled both with pellets and they eat them from the 2.0 without any problem but they cannot feed from the 3.0.

I have cleaned the 3.0 twice to ensure it is not blocking. The suet pellets have not melted. There is no debris blocking the ports - just individual pellets. This is an access issue in the design of the 3.0 suet pellet feeder.

Even if they had melted this is a suet pellet feeder so if hot weather can melt them why did you design a feeder with a small opening from which the birds have to feed?

Dear Reevo6825

We're glad to hear you've been a Roamwild customer and are happy with your 2.0 feeder.

We're sorry the birds haven't transitioned to the new suet pellet feeder yet, but we'd like to address a few points.

The fact that the birds continue to use the old feeder when it's available and go elsewhere when it's empty rather than try the new one is entirely consistent with bird behaviour, they are creatures of habit and will always default to what they know. The solution isn't to remove the old feeder entirely, which leaves them without an option and causes them to go elsewhere, but to run both feeders side by side and let the old one gradually run down so the birds naturally explore the new one. They usually will always prefer sunflower hearts to nuts or pellets.

We'd also like to mention that we are currently experiencing exceptionally hot weather with several heat waves, which significantly affects suet pellets and dried mealworms. High temperatures cause the natural fats in these feeds to melt, creating a sticky residue that clumps and blocks the feeding ports, this affects every feeder on the market, not just ours. Moving the feeder into a shaded spot, putting out smaller portions and mixing with sunflower hearts to absorb surface oils will make a significant difference during this hot spell.

Regarding our offer of a replacement seed lower assembly, we'd like to clarify that this was a genuine goodwill gesture, we don't normally offer this, as it sounded like sunflower hearts might work better for your setup than suet pellets. It was intended to help, not to fob you off.

Our PestOff range has sold over a million units across the UK and USA, has been independently recommended by the Telegraph and has received thousands of five-star reviews. We're confident the feeder will work well once the transition is managed correctly and the hot weather eases. Please do get in touch and we'll do everything we can to help.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team

This is a good, high quality feeder

My birdfeeder was delivered within a few days after I ordered it. The hanging hook didn’t fit and I contacted the company They offered refund or replacement. I chose to keep the feeder and they sent me a replacement two days later. The hummingbirds started using it the same day I hung it out. This is a great company, with great products and great customer service.

Actually keeps squirrels out.

I have had this feeder for about a month and they are the best squirrel free feeders that I found. The squirrels have tried to get to the bird seed but have failed every time.

Dreadful returns process and product didn’t work for me

Product not all its cracked up to be and returns performance is extremely poor.
I bought a pest off bird feeder 3 as my existing feeder failed to cope with Jackdaws. I placed it exactly where the other feeder was and filled it with a premium bird seed mix. Maybe my regular garden birds are especially sensitive but they wouldn’t go near this feeder. I removed all other feeders which are emptied daily, but still no joy within 7 days, so I gave up and decided to return it.
That wasn’t as easy as it should be. I buy a lot online and most companies make returns simple, easy and most importantly keep you fully informed throughout the process. Don’t expect any of that from these guys.
1. You have to request the return and await their agreement.
2. Then you have to prepay their courier for a collection and wait in on the day selected for them to call. Except they don’t! No contact and no collection for 3 days.
3. Then they tell you if this happens (probably a lot) to contact the courier and rearrange the collection, and yet again they fail to turn up or contact you.
4. At this point your only option is to arrange you own return with someone reputable like Royal Mail.
5. First though you have to request a refund for the extra charge for the failed courier collection. This was actioned promptly.
6. Once you have proof of delivery don’t expect any acknowledgement of receipt of your return, they don’t bother with this. so you have to send them a copy of the POD.
7. Following this they still failed to send any acknowledgement of receipt of the return.
8. Eventually having heard nothing after 2 weeks I lost patience and raised it with Paypal and only then did notification of the refund arrive, 15 days after the goods were delivered back to them.
I can’t recommend the product as the birds in my garden just didn’t like it. I bought a Squirrel Buster seed feeder and this is working extremely well.
I can’t recommend the company as they seem to be extremely focussed on marketing, yet neglect basic professional customer service regarding returns.

Dear customer

We're sorry the experience wasn't a positive one overall.

On the feeder itself, we'd like to address a couple of points. Placing the new feeder exactly where the old one was and filling it with a mixed seed blend are unfortunately two of the most common reasons birds don't take to a new feeder. Our team provided clear advice on how to manage the transition, hanging the new feeder alongside the existing one, letting the old feeder run down naturally, and using 100% sunflower hearts rather than mixed seed.

We're sorry this advice wasn't followed, as in our experience it makes a significant difference and works for the vast majority of our customers. Seven days without implementing these steps is unfortunately not long enough to draw a fair conclusion about the feeder's performance. We have sold over a million units across the UK and USA and the feeder works exceptionally well when the transition is managed correctly when required, we're sorry you didn't get to experience that.

On the returns process, our returns procedure is entirely standard and no different to the vast majority of online retailers, requesting a return, arranging postage and waiting for a refund to be processed is how returns work across the industry, from large retailers to small businesses. We're sorry the courier collection failed on two occasions, that is frustrating and entirely outside of our control. We're glad the courier charge was refunded promptly and that your return was processed within our stated 15 working day timeframe.

We would also note that we accepted the return of a used feeder, which is outside our standard policy, due to the unprecedented demand we were experiencing meaning the feeder could be put to good use immediately.

Regarding the Squirrel Buster, we're glad you've found something that works for your garden. We would note that comparable models typically retail at significantly higher prices than our feeder, require regular manual adjustment to the sensitivity settings, and do not offer protection against large birds such as jackdaws, which was your original reason for purchasing. Our feeder handles all of these challenges in one solution when set up correctly.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team

Not “squirrel proof”

Squirrel attacked the feeder and managed to chew all the plastic around the top of the lid then got into the feeder. It was damaged beyond repair. Company were dismissive and said it was my fault as it had been hung in wrong place. Offered me a plastic part for £19 plus postage. Not acceptable. Won’t be buying from them again.

Dear L All

We're sorry to hear about the damage to your feeder.

When you contacted us, our team reviewed the situation and identified that the feeder had not been hung in accordance with the instructions, specifically that it was too close to a vertical surface the squirrel was able to use as a platform. This is important because when a squirrel can brace itself against a nearby branch, fence, wall or pole, it can apply sustained pressure to the feeder without triggering the weight-activated mechanism, which allows it to gnaw at the plastic over time. When hung correctly with at least 45cm of clearance in all directions, squirrels cannot maintain the stability needed to do this, a lot of effort for very little reward means they quickly give up and move on.

We want to be clear that we were not being dismissive, we were providing an honest explanation of why the damage occurred and how to prevent it happening again. This is not something we see when feeders are correctly positioned.

As the damage was a result of the hanging position rather than a product fault, we were not in a position to offer a free replacement. However we did offer the replacement top and tube components at a reduced price as a goodwill gesture to help get the feeder back into use as cost effectively as possible.

Our PestOff range has sold over a million units across the UK and USA, has been independently recommended by the Telegraph and has received thousands of five-star reviews. When hung correctly it is genuinely squirrel-proof and we're sorry the experience in this instance didn't reflect that.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team

I recently bought 3 Roamwild Pestoff3…

I recently bought 3 Roamwild Pestoff3 feeders and it is the best investment I have ever made in feeding the birds. No more jackdaws, magpies or squirrels. Just loads of small birds - tits, finches, sparrows, siskins - all eager to feed on the sunflower hearts. Hardly any wasted seed, no rats. So impressed 👍

A great bird feeder

A great bird feeder. Heartily also recommend the cage accessory that goes with it. It allows the small birds to feed directly, and the larger birds scoop up whatever falls on the ground. Best of both worlds! And definitely keeps the squirrels at bay. A+

It's a good feeder

It's a good feeder, but there's a design problem in that the top catches rain with no way to drain. By adding small holes through the center it will allow draining, but requires a small o-ring to seal the connection area.

I love the seed catcher

I love the seed catcher. It has greatly saved my lawn. This is my 3rd one I have bought.
It does rust pretty quickly. I now spray the whole unit with clear coat spray paint, which prolongs rusting. Also , they have gone to a lighter gauge on the petals which is a little deduction for me since squirrels can bend them more easily. Yes, there are some poor points, but I keep ordering because it just works😀

Poor Customer Service continued.....

Roamwilds products are good. As starlings are really underweight right now they have earned the right to eat mealworms even if it I don't like the wretched birds.
Roamwild need to improve their dispatch service, sending them by Royal Mail with no alternative methods of delivery is ridiculous . Temu can do better than that which shows how little interest Roamwild has once they have your money.
My first order got as far as Dublin, paperwork was incorrect and it went all the way back again.
I offered to pay for faster shipping but the manager obviously didn't want the inconvenience and so I had to wait for the feeders to come by snail mail again.

ROAMWILD YOU NEED TO GET A NEW WAY OF SHIPPING YOUR PRODUCTS!!!!!!!

UPDATE July 15th-:
The fault is not with Royal Mail, it is with the lack of willingness to provide an alternative. Ireland is not Outer Mongolia. Amazingly DPD, FedEx, UPS, DHL, and Evri all deliver to Ireland .
I can keep this going for months. You need to pony up and get into the 21st century 😕🐦🙄

Dear Joyce

Thank you for your feedback and we're glad to hear you're happy with the products.

We're sorry your first delivery experienced issues on its way to you. When a parcel is returned due to incorrect paperwork, this is a customs and courier administration issue that is unfortunately outside of our direct control once the parcel is with Royal Mail. We're sorry for the frustration and delay this caused.

Regarding your offer to pay for faster redelivery, we do understand this was frustrating. The options available to us for redelivery are determined by the courier services we have access to for your delivery region, and we're sorry we weren't able to offer a faster alternative on this occasion. We can assure you this was not a case of not wanting the inconvenience, our team always wants to find the best possible resolution for our customers.

On the point about our shipping options, we do take this feedback on board. Royal Mail is our primary carrier and serves the vast majority of our international customers well. We are always looking at ways to improve our logistics and the feedback from customers in different regions is genuinely useful as we develop our shipping options going forward.

We're sorry the experience around delivery didn't match the quality of the products. We hope you and your birds, starlings included, continue to enjoy the feeders.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team
