I’ve gone thru rover maybe 8-10 times in using 4 different individuals. Informations on was correct and sufficient to safely make first appointments. Can’t really ask much more than that, and rover suggested brief initial stays to verify goodness of fit.

Clayton is awesome! Both dogs seemed happy and we loved that Clayton provided us daily updates with photos.
Rover ROCKS!!!
I’ve always had great success with Rover dog watchers in various locations in Wisconsin and Illinois (so far).
Heather is a wonderful pet sitter
Heather is a wonderful pet sitter. She is calm and handled our dog well. This allowed us to go to dinner at a friend's home. She is WONDERFUL!

Juan was so kind and buddy was happy there. We got pics every day. He was ready for drop off and pick up in a great location.
Disastrous
Was forced to merge to Rover from Cat in a Flat. No communication or reassurance beforehand whatsoever and no support is being provided in the transition period or no forethought in changing the all. The app is so dog focused and cats are an afterthought. I have lost my visibility, we lost the notice board and it’s just ridiculous. I don’t offer dog services yet it shows as I am. I have lost reviews too. Let’s not even talk about the absolutely extortionate fees charged on both sides. On another note, it finally pushed me to go independent and start my own business and I’m still better off than I am on Rover, so thanks for that push!

Useless site do not use
This site has always been really rubbish for me to find work on, it's just not well built, not user friendly and more expensive for customers than other similar sites. I've always done well on cat in a flat though. Untill it merged with rover and I lost all my bookings overnight plus all my reviews I built up over 7 years!!! Disgusting!

Rover ruined well established cat sitting service.
Rover poorly took over Cat in a Flat and didn’t bother adjusting anything for cat sitters. The interface is horrible, clearly not designed for this type of service, and feels like a money-grabbing app charging clients 15% for a downgraded experience.
They keep saying Cat in a Flat is still a distinct company focused on cats, but nothing has been done to support it. No improvements, no proper features, no effort. With the lack of communication from both Rover and Cat in a Flat, it honestly feels like Rover doesn’t want cat sitters on the platform at all. They focus on dogs and it looks like they’re just getting rid of their competitors rather than supporting a specialised service.
Really disappointing after all the time and effort put into building something on Cat in a Flat.

Previous cat in a flat sitter
As a cat sitter on cat in a flat, I am furious and upset about the merge to rover.
I will most likely be quitting cat sitting now because of how horrendous the app is and I feel the same as all the other 1* reviews. You’ve really ruined this for so many of us.

Deleted my account in the middle of a booking!
The merge from catintheflat has been disastrous. As a cat sitter, my current booking was deleted meaning I could not contact the owner in the middle of a booking! Additionally, my whole account was wiped meaning 7 years of reviews and clients have been removed! I tried to contact both rover and catinaflat but both just sent me in endless circles of AI chat bots. Looking through Rover, it seems to imply I’m a dog sitter who will also do cat sitting which is 100% not the case. I want nothing to do with dogs. Rover merge has completely ruined this for me and I will now be going private, a shame as catinaflat was an easy and secure way to advertise.

Great People
Great People. We have used Rover twice, and have met great people who really know how to take care of our dogs
I have regular clients on Cat in a Flat…
I have regular clients on Cat in a Flat that I have catsit for for years, and the recent merger with Rover is *atrocious.* Didn't keep my settings the way I had them, my profile was reverted to a much older version, my profile was updated to say I took dogs (no), the website is completely unnavigable from the cat sitter's side. My clients are also now being charged more than I had my rates set even though I corrected it on the new platform. Now we are paid after the job is over, apparently, so if I need to take the bus to a client's house I now need to wait for that reimbursement in the form of payment for the booking even later and pay it out of pocket...
I am so incredibly pissed off and upset that we are are dealing with this on both sides. I use Cat in a Flat for my own cat too and think I will look elsewhere the next time I need to book.

Terrible merger for cat in a flat…
Terrible merger for cat in a flat sitters! Unfortunately, this merge has been terrible for cat sitters. As someone who used to enjoy cat sitting (mainly as a part time hobby) I built up some lovely connections on Cat in a Flat. The system was intuitive and I enjoyed many repeat bookings. Despite the 19% booking fee for sitters, I didn't mind as I felt that it was worth it for the security and ease of booking. After the merger I was prepared to use Rover, but after setting up my account I was appalled by the following:
15% fee's for both owners and sitters (so greedy!)
Charging for multiple cats (ridiculous!)
Banning users from contacting clients outside of the clunky app. Meaning owners would have to log into the app multiple times to see updates.
Tracking visits and having a "report card"
Most trustworthy sitters are used to sending pictures throughout the day and these can be time stamped with a smart phone (so no need for this).
Asking owners to pay upfront but I have heard anecdotal instances of sitters fee's being withheld due to app glitches.
I have decided not to use this app as a cat sitter and I will be looking elsewhere.
