I worked my last event for RubyLemon on December 6th 2025 and I’m still waiting to be paid. This event was a holiday party in Menlo Park, California. I have emailed, called and texted dozens of times and received promises to pay but still nothing for my 6 hour 14 min shift. Before this shift I was always paid.
They are very bad
They are very bad. I did an activation with them in December 2025 and were almost April 2026, and I never got paid until now
No payment, gaslighting, SCAMMERS
Worked my first and last event with them in Canada on December 6th 2025. Very disorganized, last minute communication and no payment. Lisa Sansom and Daisy Bueno both ghosted my and my co-worker's multiple emails and attempts to receive payment and we still have not been paid. There were supposedly dates they emailed us with on when we would get paid in January and nothing. Don't bother getting scammed by these people.
Scammed by Lisa Sansom founder of Ruby…
Scammed by Lisa Sansom founder of Ruby lemon who also hides behind Event Staff London, Event Staff NYC, Event Staff LA, Event Staff Middle East, Event Staff Me, and her Chief Operational Officer Daisy Bueno who has founded Connecto Agency and Nuevo Connections. Lisa reached out to me on Trusted Herd about working events for her. Then Daisy followed up promising pay within 14 days after submitting invoice. When pay was delayed, Daisy referred me to an email address that bounced. When I reached out directly to Lisa she concocted fake pay dates and reasons for delay, randomly requesting pieces of information she already had then stopped responding all together. This was months ago. It’s disappointing these women still work in the industry and continue to scam temp staff.
If RubyLemon Doesn't Pay Their Staff - Then Events Suffer
There has been numerous complaints about RubyLemon, and their lack of payment for staff, and now I'm one of them. The events I've done for them required extensive physical work and stellar customer service. Yet, I have not been paid for over two months for events I did for them. I also felt bad for the clients, as RL staff was unprepared and under-informed about what was needed.
There should be negative stars
There should be negative stars. This woman this business are experts at not paying their staff. The founder Lisa will not pay you. She will give fake paydates then ignore your emails completely as she continues business as usual. Ignore the trusted herd reviews. They are probably that way because BAs are afraid of being blacklisted. Don’t dismiss the bad reviews like I did. It’s a shame she’s been in business that like scamming staff out of their hard earned earnings.
Work for free with us
This has been the worst experience in the work field for me. DO NOT WORK OR BOOK RUBY LEMON!!!! It's daunting that a company like this exsist. 48 days without getting paid in December. In fact they gave us a 3 week period between pay dates. Ive emailed the dozens of times, and got them to say say that their app had been malfunctioning and that everyone need to give them their hours via email. Well I sent mine and they emailed me a week later saying they were so sorry and for me and to give them my info so lisa can "send it directly to me". And that was the last I heard from them. 7 days ago. All b.s. It really irks me that they think they can get away with this. So save yourself now and do not click ruby lemon.
I worked for this “company” on 2/1/26
I worked for this “company” on 2/1/26, While I was on the job site I was warned that people were on strike and they weren’t being paid. I was told that I should reach out as soon as possible and ask about payroll information as well as on boarding. I immediately reached out to Lisa via Trusted Herd on 2/1, but have not heard back. I called the phone number listed on Trusted Herd, that phone number is disconnected. I called the phone number listed on the website, that phone number went to a Google voice mail - called twice. I tried to send a message via the website I received an error that that wouldn’t go through. I emailed info, no response. I tried to message on WhatsApp, I received a response that said to email Lisa- emailed that one - no response. I went onto message on Instagram, I see that they’re active posting on their stories, but no response. I’m now done more research and I see that several people are reporting that they have not been paid via Yelp, Trust Pilot , and Trusted Herd. I am now reporting to the Better Business Bureau, and the Texas workforce commission to file a claim for missing wages. This is disgusting. To have to jump through hoops just to get a response is absolutely ridiculous.
Be Prepared to Fight for Your Pay
I’m sharing this so other workers know what to expect before agreeing to work with Lisa Sansom / Ruby Lemon.
My experience was a cycle of delayed communication, missing information, and constantly shifting requirements around payment. After the work was completed, no clear process was provided, emails went unanswered for long stretches, and every time I followed up there was suddenly a “new” item needed that had never been mentioned before. It felt less like payroll and more like intentional runaround.
The tone of communication was dismissive and gaslighting—delays were framed as my fault despite the company never providing instructions or timelines in the first place. Instead of professionalism, I was met with email tag, vague responses, and zero accountability for paying earned wages.
If you choose to work with this company, protect yourself:
• Get payment terms and process in writing before the job
• Document everything
• Do not assume you’ll be paid on time
• Be prepared that you may need to pursue NY Department of Labor unpaid wage procedures to receive what you’re owed
I would not recommend working with this company unless you are comfortable chasing your own pay and dealing with unnecessary stress.
I worked this job over three weeks ago and still haven’t received pay.
Do not work for this company or its…
Do not work for this company or its founder Lisa. They will gaslight you and continue to delay communication then offer arbitrary dates of payment then continue to delay communication. Don’t do it.
Ordered 3 servers only 1 showed-up
Ordered 3 servers only 1 showed-up. Promised full refund. Took several months for me to get my money back.
Did not get paid i hate them so much
This is the worst company I have ever…
This is the worst company I have ever worked for in my life. I worked for them in August 2024 and I still haven't been and we'rein 2025, I've constantly been emailing and calling still no reply. It honestly feels like a scam.
Poor communication and inexperienced server/helper provided. Poor employee!
I hired Ruby Lemon to provide a helper/server for an event for 30 people- something I would normally do on my own, but I wanted to enjoy the party. I did all the food, decoration and drinks. They provided us with someone who had never served, did not take initiative with clearing plates, topping off glasses despite several conversations with Lisa. I had to teach the helper how to serve and direct her several times when things needed would have been obvious for someone with a little more experience. I felt bad for the lady, so helped her learn as much as possible. Then I learned they only pay the server half of what I was paying. This poor lady! I will not be hiring them again and would not suggest working for them.
Most disorganized company. You won't get paid.
Saw a random gig pop up for bartending at a wedding. Pay was low but I was promised tips. I looked up RubyLemon and saw all of the bad "I never got paid" reviews and talked to them about it. I was told that they got a new payroll system and everything is ok now so I decided to give them a try.
There was no cell phone reception at the wedding so there was no way for me to clock in nor contact anyone. There was no one in charge, no "captain" or lead, no direction. Super disorganized. Some of the bartenders weren't RBS certified, which is illegal. We were only tipped by one person. The father of the bride said that he was going to tip us out via "the company".
Bar setup was incomplete, unsanitary, and overall strange. We were stationed near a huge gas tank with a fence around it that had a "no smoking within 60 feet" sign on it. The wedding guests decided that this was the best place to smoke: leaning on the wooden fence in front of the tank. There were also two propane heaters nearby. People kept turning the gas up all the way to try to get them to turn on but not igniting them. I didn't see "fire safety" listed in the job description but it was necessary for me to control the situation for the safety of all.
I was never paid what I was promised, nor any tips. Neither were the bartenders I worked with. Don't waste your time. The rumors are true.
Horrible agency do not recommend
Worked for Rubylemon UK. Received late payments and never got paid for a job I did in September. Constantly been contacting but never got any effective response. Modern slavery at its finest, owners should be ashamed of themselves.
Lisa is great and tentative and…
Lisa is great and tentative and communication, coordination & small details. I never felt in the dark or unsure of things while working/preparing for this event.
There is room to grow within her company and I see a promising future of more high end event entertainment with Ruby Lemon.
5 stars
Working with RubyLemon through their app is easy and organized, I like working for them ;)
My experience
I love the way the company explains the job description. Also how they are willing to help you with any questions you may have. I enjoy working for them their events are so much fun!
