Beware. Don’t sign up for the free trial if you don’t intend to subscribe

When you sign up for the free 2 months trial you have to follow steps to activate your account. At this time you are asked if you want to sign up for the subscription service. Do be very careful, because if you decline they claim that you did sign up and charge you almost £50 which if you dispute on the very same day, they don’t accept the error and take your money anyway. Very unfair practices.

I signed up for the free training…

I signed up for the free training program but then had a family issue that led to putting running on hold. I saw I got charged the first month after the training program ended and immediately tried to cancel. I thought I did but then realized I was still getting charged the last three months after that, costing me another $150. I just attempted to cancel again and can only guess that it didn’t go through last time because I didn’t complete the survey afterward, which seems predatory. I am very upset and disappointed by this.

We're sorry to hear about your family issue that prevented you from getting started with your RunDot training. Family is most important. We do rely on RunDot Project participants to cancel their subscription within their account. This is communicated early in the activation process via email. If you did not complete the cancellation process, then your account would not have cancelled. If you ever have questions about the process our Support team is always happy to help at Support@RunDot.com.

Free plan that cost me £500

I've signed up for a free training plan almost a year ago. Almost immediately after that major change hit my life, and I wasn't exercising at all.

Two days ago I've noticed that my credit card has some weird payment I don't recall authorising - turns out I've been paying for the training plan for the last 10 months. There wasn't a single email about charges from my card from this company (there were some initially with some tips or something, but I probably have cancelled them).

The subscription cost is £50 a month. So, I've paid £500 for the thing I've never used - obviously, I've dropped a message to the support to discuss the next steps. Oh yeah, by the way, you can't cancel the subscription from the app - you also have to go to their website.

The conversation from there could go in so many different ways - "Yes, we will add an email notifying people that they are paying for this expensive subscription", "You've paid for 10 months and obviously haven't even opened the app - we can't refund you, but maybe we can give you 5(10) months for free from now on?", "You clearly haven't used app at all, we can give you a 50% refund".

Instead I've got "It's your fault, but we can give you a £50 back, oh and you MUST fill out the survey to cancel the subscription". Also, it took two days to reply (for £500 I do expect a bit faster reply than that).

So I have no idea about the app as the training tool, as I've never used it, but the app as a service is not concerned about clients, not interested in you getting better, not interested why aren't you using the app for which you are paying - they are just concerned about the money.

An excellent way to improve your running and enjoy it!

I have used RunDot to support my training. Not only has it helped with my performance, but I also really enjoy the sessions! There is a lot of variation, some hard, some not so hard, but all helping to get users stronger, fitter, faster and happier!
The training can easily be coorperated into my ever changing schedule which is something I've struggled with in the past with other training plans/methods.

Not just a random training

I love this training app, no more guess work for me of what to do next on my training schedule, it is really personalized to my own abilities which is a game changer as I don’t have to meet a generic expectation of what my performance should be like, very customized to my needs and strength/ endurance

Stayed on after the free trial

Completed a free 2 month trial of the Complete membership while preparing for a 10 mile trail race, and paid full price for a third month at Complete. Training-wise, I felt prepared for the trail race in terms of time on my feet, but the time prediction was pretty far off despite uploading a course elevation profile to Run Dot and having a good run that day. I then downgraded to the Lifestyle membership for 5 months as I only had a 5k or 10k on my radar next. I felt well-prepared for my 5k and came close to my predicted time on race day. I remained injury-free, to boot. Would recommend RunDot for road race prep.
