My husband and I could not be more satisfied with our experience with SAGE Home Loans. From start to finish, the loan process was smooth, stress-free, and truly made our lives easier during what can often be an overwhelming time.
We were able to secure a rate and loan terms that were far superior to what many other lenders offered us, which gave us such peace of mind. Every team member we worked with was incredibly professional, quick to respond, and attentive to every detail. The kindness and support we received throughout the process made such a difference.
In particular, we want to recognize Jamison Whittaker and Celena Stocker for going above and beyond. Their responsiveness, knowledge, and genuine care ensured that everything went seamlessly.
We are so grateful to SAGE Home Loans for their outstanding service, and we would highly recommend them to everyone we know. If you’re looking for a lender that combines excellent rates with top-notch customer care, look no further than SAGE Home Loans.
My loan officer (Ty) was fantastic to work with. After that, everything went downhill, quickly. Our original processor either quit or got fired during the process so when we were assigned a new processor, we got conflicting information by way of requirements, etc. Communication from them to us was lacking; at best. I would just recommend going local, if at all possible.
Great Experience!
Matt and Tammy delivered what they said, were very timely and helpful. Easy closing. Would recommend.
The loan officer was very professional and helpful. The loan processor was not very communicative and I got surprise requests for documents just before closing.
Also, I got the final closing disclosures just before my bank's wire transfer cutoff time on the day before closing which was stressful.
My main complaint though is the website. What a buggy mess. I got a blank page when trying to log in for the couple weeks leading up to closing. I am a developer myself so I inspected the blank page and there were tons of fairly basic errors preventing it from rendering properly. I opened the website on firefox, chrome and safari to similar results. Also, every time I inquire about rates on the website, it registered me as a new preapproval request, even though I already had an account. This caused me to get emails saying "Just checking in on the home search - do you need anything refreshed right now on your preapproval?" when I had already gone under contract on a house with Sage.
Be careful.
The loan processing team was late on my notice to perform date.
Underwriting is very unorganized and requested the same documents that I had submitted several times already.
Loan application process was easy and fast but the team needs has to be more communicative. They were speaking to my real estate agent about financial information and documents required. Not the right person.
After underwriting approval, they scheduled the signing at 11:30am the following day. Underwriting didnt send the documents to the mobile notary until 11:00am on the day of signing. This made the notary 25min late to the appointment and my wife late for work and close to the cut off for wire transfers through the bank.
If you go with them expect to spoon feed them everything and the same documents over and over and over and over again
J.T. and Stacy were both phenomenal when it came to communication from start to finish on the loan process. They were ready and willing to answer my questions and help me get set up with Sage on refinancing my mortgage loan. Job well done!
Process was smooth and happy to recommend Sage Home Loans for all my friends.
Sage's rates are very competitive, if not the best. They don't penalize you for not escrowing your insurance or taxes. That alone will make them worth considering. The initial intake with the loan originator/officer (Marlena Cheeks) was awesome. She always answered my calls or returned them promptly. She kept her word in all respects. The website was easy to use initially. After locking in, is where things started to degrade. Sage hands you off to another person for successive steps. The service was not great afterwards. The next person was hard to reach, didn't return calls and was not responsive in a timely manner. The website was flaky. Never figured that out. I wish your initial person was the same throughout the whole process. They need to figure out the website issue. Lastly, they need to keep customer advised in between steps and keep up-to-date on major status items.
Tamera, was amazing to work with. She was a wealth of knowledge and professional.
It was a frustrating at first due to several changes in personnel assigned to our loan, but in the final third (after the 2nd loan officer and 2nd loan processor), things started to happen and our loan was approved, even if 7 days late (4 days after original closing date).
The process started fine when working with sales, but then turned into a nightmare. I had constant issues accessing the online portal (resolved after 2 weeks), very poor communication from the closing specialist throughout underwriting, and I had to constantly "babysit" the process to ensure the loan closed on time. The closing specialist would never respond to my texts or emails, and then last minute the manager had to step in and take over. Talk about stress during an already stressful process. Every time, it seemed that we were starting from the beginning and there was no knowledge base on what had already been provided. Eventually, I worked with a senior manager within Sales, who was the only person who seemed to be able to get things done. The only reason it met the closing schedule was due to my involvement. I regret even trying to go with Sage, and do not recommend it based on my experience.
Easy to work with and worked hard to get the best outcome that fit our needs
I enjoyed working with our loan officer who made the experience smooth!

I was able to do everything online and over phone. J.T. Heinz was quick to answer questions and transparent with his responses. He listened to what my needs were and only presented me options that made sense for me i.e. loan length and points vs no points. Both J.T. and Gloria were courteous and professional during communication. Also, Sage offered one of the best deals I could find. As a current customer of Rocket Mortgage, Rocket told me to sign right away with Sage if what they were offering was real and it was.

The agent was upfront about costs, he kept me up to date on what to expect.

I recently refinanced my home mortgage through Sage Home Loans, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the process was smooth, transparent, and incredibly well-managed thanks to the outstanding team especially J.T. Heinz and Tara Harris-Nelson.
J.T. Heinz, my loan officer, was phenomenal. He kept me informed about various loan period options and the corresponding interest rates, helping me make the most informed decision. I had let him know from beginning that I’m looking for lowest possible rates with maximum lender credits. What truly impressed me was his dedication when rates dropped slightly, J.T. was away on a weekend trip to a lake, yet he still went above and beyond to help me lock in the best rate. That level of commitment is rare and deeply appreciated
Throughout the four weeks long process, J.T. stayed on top of every detail, consistently communicating and ensuring the process kept moving forward. Once the rate was locked, Tara Harris-Nelson stepped in and expertly coordinated the documentation process. She made it easy to gather everything needed for closing, and her professionalism and responsiveness were top-notch.
Not only did I receive the best interest rate for my refinance, but Sage Home Loans also offered the lowest lender fees and closing costs compared to the many other lenders. Others either had higher closing fees and similar rates as Sage or lower closing fees but higher rates than Sage but nobody simply could beat Sage’s rates and closing costs all together. So I'm just so grateful to have worked with such a dedicated and knowledgeable team.

Sage failed to respond to many emails and phone calls. Had to repeatedly reach out for responses - management did not respond either.
The most communicative person was the loan originator who was unable to help through the closing process.
They did not relay information from the appraiser for 11 days which caused us to miss the closing date (they have a $500 guarantee for missing closing dates but Sage will not respond to us about that).
Initial response from Sage on any issue was to blame us for not responding or providing documentation (we already had) and we had to prove we did - which they were able to lookup on record that we provided everything right away when asked.
Our contract allowed 45 days to close and we were told by sage multiple times that we could close 3-4 weeks early but and would confirm "tomorrow". Then we would be ghosted past the close date that they communicated.
During the process multiple people internal to Sage were asking for the same information that was already provided showing they have internal communication problems.
Overall, it felt like the first mortgage Sage had ever processed, and they clearly do not care about their customers.
Poor communication. The loan originator started out great, but once it got to the loan processor there were crickets. They went on vacation without an out of office notification. After multiple days and attempts of calling, emailing and texting I finally received an auto response with a managers email/phone number. This person also was non-responsive. The only person who usually responded was the loan originator who didn't know what was going on. We applied for the mortgage with over 45 days until closing. Multiple people asked for the same documentation which we always sent the same day. We requested closing ahead of schedule if possible, they said we were ahead of schedule and that shouldn't be a problem. Whenever we asked for an update, they were waiting on the appraisal or reviewing the appraisal then almost 2 weeks later they needed more money to complete the appraisal and it took over 3 weeks to get it back. They completely missed our initial close by date. We've requested compensation based on their "Close on time guarantee". And guess what? Crickets.
