Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 43 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with recent software updates, finding them to be detrimental to their phone's functionality and user experience. People reported numerous issues, including rapid battery drain, apps not working correctly, and difficulties with basic phone operations like transferring photos or restarting the device. The updates were often described as making the phones nearly useless, with some even considering switching brands despite being long-time users. Reviewers also highlighted frustrating changes to the user interface, such as altered layouts, smaller icons, and awkward navigation for settings and notifications. Some people mentioned issues with specific features like the camera not working properly, problems with predictive text, and the forced integration of unwanted applications. The overall sentiment was that the updates complicated usage rather than improving it, leading to a less intuitive and more frustrating experience for many.

Samsung's latest update is a nightmare

If there was an option to give zero stars I would. I dread when Samsung has an update. But I have repeatedly been advised by IT that it is necessary for security. If it was just a security update, that would be fine. I would certainly prefer that option. I got the notification this morning for the latest update and. . . This is by far the worst one ever. What happened to the date on the homescreen? Why do the fonts get smaller with each update? Where is the battery indicator? Ah yes, it's that tiny illegible oval with a number in the upper right corner. Why not keep the percentage symbol? How do I access my utilities? Why does the functionality for the everyday user have to be compromised? What is the point of useless cosmetic changes that make it harder to read your phone? These are all accessibility issues. I, and many other Samsung customers, would like to have the choice to keep the same configuration. It's not like it has to be reinvented. The reviews and comments by tech geeks complained about the rollout but rave about the new features. I can tell you I don't need and won't use most of them. I've chosen Android over Apple because it suited my my job. But I don't have time for a steep learning curve to figure out how to use my phone again. I am beyond frustrated. This is probably the end for me. I won't buy Apple. And I'll probably have to buy another phone sooner than I had planned. And it won't be a Samsung.

The new update is absolutely awful

The new update is absolutely awful
Nobody seems to like it. The layout is confusing and not user-friendly, I don't want energy-draining (and planet-killing) AI forced on me, and I have better things to do then waste time re-learning where everything is. This is terrible.

You know how I feel about this update.

As everyone else said, it is full of bugs, drains battery very quickly, deleted several helpful features, made several others much less convenient, and overall has the look of a bad apple imitation. I will be looking to leave android when I buy my next phone.

The only reason I stick with Samsung…

The only reason I stick with Samsung over an iPhone is the operating system and my familiarity with it. Biggest issue for me is if you make a call and then open a browser or an app, no obvious way to navigate back to the phone call to hang up. I hate how much os has changed, dont like search bar on the bottom having nor do I like drag down from right or left to access different functions.

WORST UPDATE EVER

Got the new update, now I cannot even see my freaking icons even with every setting set to zoom! My battery notification that now looks like a pill is completely useless! It's so freaking tiny i can barely make it out with my glasses on. I started using the Samsung galaxy s1 in 2010 I had switched from a Nokia phone and I've been a little bummed with an update or 2 in the last 15 years but this update?! This one takes the cake and not in a good way!!! By far the WORST UPDATE ever!!!! I've been a loyal fan for a long time but if this isn't fixed soon I'll be looking at other phones because this one is utter bull$hit!!!

Worst update I've downloaded

This is everything wrong in an update...all of the app buttons and notifications and even battery icon look like IPhone trash and have that bubbly cartoonish childish look to them which should be left with Apple only. My weather app is now bubbly and rounded and is in your face, no more discreet transparent weather notifications. And now my battery looks like a pill and has dropped nearly 20% in just over 1 hour. They're is absolutely nothing in this update I have found useful or warranted and am VERY disappointed in Samsung.

I hate everything about this update

I hate everything about this update. Samsung took away the things I liked about their phones to make it more like iPhones. I'm pissed and very dissatisfied. I should have the option to change it back to something similar to the last update. My phone is no longer my own. Why are you pushing your customers away?

One UI 7.0

One UI: 7.0

Just downloaded the new update. It acts like Apple. Having to pull down the menus from a certain side of the screen to acess what I need will make my head explode. I moved away from Apple and now I'm put right back. If we can make it a toggle, so those who want it can chose it, great but now I've no option but to use it.

You're new samsung update is gross

You're new samsung update is gross. Completely uncalled for. And looks like a cheap attempt to copy Apple. I should be able to scroll down from anywhere to see my messages. Not half the screen. Stupid. Seriously. All that money into renovations and creativity just to spring upon us some 2008 app overlay where the buttons are rounded rather than brick app tiles. And then the swipe down screen is gross. Like. Why have a search bat at the bottom of the app screen when your hands block that view. Should've kept it at the top. I'd put 0 atars if I could

This new ui is abyssmal. Stop trying to get iphone users and tossing your actual brand loyal fans aside in that pathetic attempt.

I've always hated samsung's attempt at making their phones more and more like iphones. First it was the emojis, then the ui, but this update truly takes the cake on how desperate they seem to be to get iphone users while completely tossing their actual fans aside. This ui is abyssmal, if i wanted an iphone i would have bought an iphone. Stop making the ui worse and worse cuz ur trying to appeal to a fanbase that has no interest in you. Give me back my old notifications pulldown screen, why the hell would u split it so you have to touch 2 different parts of the screen for what was normally on 1 screen?! No one complained about having their settings/widgets on the same pulldown as their notifications i can promise you that. Whoever is doing this shit with the ui feels extremely out of touch. Its worse that the updates are automatic and you can't reverse this shit let alone opt out of them. Give us our ui back, give us our emojis back, or you're going to lose your loyal customers in a feeble attempt at getting new ones who were never going to crawl over to you due to their brand loyalty in the first place. This ui is actually so disgusting and idiotic it pisses me off. I just got this phone recently but it makes me want to reconsider and switch to an actual android phone, and I've been a strictly samsung only user since the galaxy s3. So that's saying something.

Removed customizations. Gemini useless.

Wish I never accepted the latest samsung update for my fold. Don't know what they did to my keyboard, but even typing this is painful.

And so far, Gemini has been entirely useless.

Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Don't do it!

May need to buy a non samsung phone for the first time in over 10 years.

You really need to stop downloading…

You really need to stop downloading unwanted apps, especially game apps on your many system updates. It's obviously something that is earning you money. I even un clicked the apps and it still downloaded them. Stop it's very annoying.

Updates only i don't want games apps

I understand they were need to install updates periodically. The only complaint i have is all the unnecessary game apps that come with updating. I do not play any games nor do I want any app like that installed on my phone. There should be a choice . Very annoying

Why have Samsung hidden the sleep timer function?

After doing the latest update for Samsung TV it is now difficult to find the sleep timer function. Before the update all you needed to do was use the smaller remote and press one button and it appeared on screen. Now you have to go into settings (once you find it) and scroll across until you find sleep timer. People are useing this function when they are sleepy please make it easier again
