Excellent Replacement HUIBOLONG HTV160C1 Transformer

I ordered a replacement transformer for a 10-year old ceiling light in which the transformer had developed a fault. The SaveMyLight.co.uk website provided detailed and accurate information about the similarities and differences (especially case dimensions) between the old and new transformers which allowed me to carefully check the new transformer would fit inside the light case. I fitted the new transformer myself. No electrician needed although the instructions sheets recommended fitting by a professional. It was easy to install and worked perfectly. The quick delivery, good condition of the item, packaging and excellent level of detail available on the website before ordering along with very clear printed instructions on how to avoid issues with returning a faulty unit, all add up to good customer care.

Disgusting Experience

This was what Savemylight said when I asked for a refund,

Wow!
You can get stuffed Miss Cullen. Who do you think you are speaking to?? With that attitude and inline with our Customer Abuse policy (link below) we have absolutely no desire to assist you from this point forward.
Your attitude stinks. You have made a bizarre and insulting suggestion of us being a scammer and when we try to assist, you send an abusive email.
We have every right as a retailer to ask you questions in accordance with the sale / return whether you like it or not.
Now you can work out how to return the product on your own from the paperwork you received with the product. Even that might be a challenge for you and no we do not offer free returns packaging, free pre-paid labels or return forms.
I am so pleased I intercepted your email before our lovely C/S ladies did in the morning.
This company is sick and tired of having to deal with a minority of abusive customers like you who think it is their god given right to send abusive emails. Staff will not respond to any further emails you send.
Your return is noted on your sales file today. You have 14 days to return the goods which will be inspected and retested. If in working order and in any original packaging, you will be refunded - not many scammers do refunds!!
For future reference I would think very carefully who you send an abusive email to as the next person may take a different approach to action.

Excellent Service

The third time I have used this company to fix broken light fittings and the service received especially from Steve and David has been excellent.
I am baffled as to why some reviewers are so hostile in their reviews. I experienced nothing like these people claim.
Will use again.

Great product arrived quickly

Ordered a replacement transformer after I stupidly put an LED bulb in a halogen only light fitting. Placed order on 22 January, arrived on 24 January (using Royal Mail tracked 24). Fitted the transformer over the weekend which was pretty simple, lego for grown-ups. Light fitting is now working again! Really happy with this company and genuinely can't understand the bad reviews.

Replacement LED driver plug…

I bought a replacement LED driver plug and lead to replace a failed unit. I received an email confirmation of my order’s dispatch the following morning.
Very fast delivery, well packaged and helpful guidance notes. The replacement plug and lead work perfectly and I would have no hesitation in ordering from them again. Thanks.

I wish I had read the reviews
Awful, arrogant attitude as others have mentioned, no interest in returns despite being within the 14day online sales. Nothing resolved, wasted money. AVOID

Customer service - Nil

Customer service, nil.
The halogen light transformer they supplied lasted just 1 week before failing. I called to ask for a replacement, what a waste of a phone call that was. Basically blaming my light fitting for blowing the transformer suggesting the internal wiring must have shorted. I explained that I am an electrician with 35 years experience and did they not think I had tested that before fitting the transformer. There are no faults with the light fitting!!. They said I could return it at my own expense and they would test it, I didn't bother as I already know what they would have said.
Joke of a company, claim to be saving electrical waste going into landfill by rescuing your light yet creating more landfill by selling sub standard products. I will now instead save landfill by converting my halogen light to LED but will certainly not buy the LED driver from these people. AVOID savemylight at all costs

Premium rate contact numbers! Beware!!

People should be aware that the company's contact telephone numbers are premium lines (0871-). This means that you will be charged about £1 for the few seconds it takes to listen to the rcorded message saying they are too busy to take your call. I believe it is illegal to use premium rate lines without warning customers that they will be charged at this rate.

Replacement transformer nightmare

Sadly i cant give zero stars or I would
Ive used this company before with no problem. This time I received a faulty product, I contacted them and asked very politely for a replacement and a return envelope for the faulty one as I am entitled to a replacement of faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 only to be told its not faulty, It was tested and working when sent out. After a few emails back and forth I did the checks they suggested with the same result of a non working transformer. I contacted them again and said i had done everything they asked and it was still faulty. I asked again for a replacement or a refund, either would do at this point and they came up with reasons not to replace it or refund me. I told them if they couldnt sort the issue we have other options we can look at meaning I could contact paypal but i did not state that, i gave them the option to make it right. This didnt happen I just got an aggressive email reply. As I cant get any resolution from them I contacted paypal to sort it out and i got a dreadful email from them.

THEY SAID
We have been made aware of your Chargeback claim through Paypal and will defend it.
It is now clear exactly what your email meant when you insinuated you had other options. In simple terms going over the head of the retailer to file a Chargeback. In the retail world this is called 'Friendly Fraud' by falsing a refund with a payment provider. Very suspicious behaviour if I say so. As you have not given us the chance to inspect and test the product we cannot verify your claim that the goods are defective.
I strongly recommend you return the goods to us as any consumer is obligated to do. If you retain the goods and receive funds back we will pursure the return of the funds as per our T&C's.
We await the return of the goods.

I'm not falsing a refund, and i have no intention of keeping a broken transformer, Im happy to send it back but i aint paying that cost. Its not down to me. Consumer Rights Act 2015 states its not.

When you get responses like this to every email options are limited.

Every email i sent i have offered to return the faulty product and under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 Section 23: Right to repair or replacement
This section details a consumer's right to insist on repair or replacement of faulty goods, the cost of which must be borne by the trader. This includes the trader bearing any costs involved in the removal of an installed item and reinstallation of a replacement. So ive asked for postage to be paid for which has totally been ignored or ive been told its not in their policy.

As a seller they are trying to avoid their responsibilities of a repair or replacement of faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

I will not be dealing with them again once this has been sorted, AVOID AVOID AVOID there are alternative products available of better quality and at cheaper prices, you just have to seach for them.

Replacement electronic transformer.

I bought the same model electronic transformer to replace the failed transformer for an aged 12v bathroom mirror halogen light. I wanted the same transformer, not an equivalent and this was the only company listing it.
(I had looked at LED replacement mirrors/lights but wasn't sure they are bright enough and some ran off batteries - faff!)
The transformer only took a couple of days to arrive, accompanied by simple, common sense advice. It was easily fitted and the lamp is now working again.
I would happily purchase from this company again.

Avoid this company

I have had the need to buy from this company for a few years, as I have several light fittings powered by the Huibolong HTV80C1 transformer which is a very poor ‘Chinese quality’ product that fails at regular intervals, and SaveMyLight seems to be the sole UK supplier.

I have found the company will try to avoid it's responsibilities as a retailer. My most recent purchase failed within 3 weeks of fitting, so I asked for a replacement under guarantee. The company immediately said there was nothing wrong with the transformer it was how I had fitted it – so why did it work and then stop? The company then suggested it was a faulty light fitting – so why did an alternative transformer I fitted work perfectly well?

The upshot of this exchange was I sent the transformer back to be tested, and surprise surprise the company said there was nothing wrong with it, but refunded me anyway.

The good news, nobody needs to buy from this company any more as there are now alternative good quality transformers available at 1/3 of the price charged by SaveMyLight. I fitted an Aurora 35-105W/VA Round Electronic Transformer as a direct replacement for the Huibolong HTV80C1 transformer – it has worked perfectly since fitting.

The worst after sales service ever!

Contacted Savemylight as a transformer I bought for a client's 12v halogen feature light three months before had failed and I wanted to return under warranty. The response was that there was nothing wrong with the transformer and I didnt know how to test it (they hadn't even seen the transformer nor had they asked how it was tested). After further, increasingly arrogant, rude and anonymous emails from their so called Customer Services I gave up and have converted my clients light to run LEDs.

Avoid this company like the plague. They have no technical knowledge of the products they sell, have a zero concept of customer services and are unable to admit they are wrong.

Excellent repair of an LED Light

After just over 5 years of use, my LED pendant light failed due to water damage. It was one of three, and they are no longer manufactured. So I was keen to have it repaired. I made contact through repairmylight.co.uk, packaged up my light fitting and sent it to them. The faulty LED Driver was replaced, and the whole fitting cleaned before it was returned to me. I was kept informed of progress by email throughout, and turn-a-round was quick. The repaired light is now back on the ceiling in our kitchen with the other two. I am delighted with the service I received.

SaveMyAttitude.com

Perhaps this company should change their name to SaveMyAttitude.com. They come across as rude and arrogant. Whilst it must be true that they know everything about electronics and their customers know nothing, they could at least make an effort to learn about customers relations and how to get more sales. Bad experience for us and we won't be going there again.

Good Concept, Poor After Sales.

Savemylight has identified a market niche for the supply of electronic transformers and fittings to repair much loved lamps and lights and should be complimented for filling it. However as a seller it actively avoids its responsibilities in the repair or replacement of faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act.

I recently bought an Electronic Transformer off them, which failed within 3 months. When I sought repair or replacement I was advised that the most likely cause was a fault with the light fitting causing an internal safety feature to blow and thus if returned and this was identified it would not be replaced. Technically of course this is BS, albeit it may contain components designed to fail safely, it does not preclude the unit itself being faulty. I was then expected to cover the return costs with the expectation that Savemylight would declare the Transformer had failed because of said BS reason, and refuse to repair or replace it, which would then have added the cost of return postage to my initial loss.

I would have given no stars but Savemylight as resellers are actually not responsible for the failure itself, it is just their attempt to discourage genuine repair or replacement that is is so conniving.
