I want to set the record straight about some of the bad reviews I’m reading in this forum. I was introduced to Scheels in Rapid City SD and immediately opened up a credit card which I frequently use. When my son came to visit me , I took him to Scheels and he was blown away by the atmosphere and quality of the store as well as the friendliness of its employees. I refuse to let some of these reviews stand without challenge after doing business with Scheels for over five years. I recently purchased a canopy which I ordered via telephone and the order was not exactly what I ordered probably because I didn’t give enough clarity when I placed the order. When I called to discuss the problem, the customer service representative, Sarah, went to bat for me and easily got the problem rectified by sending a part at Scheels expense to me. I am still so impressed by the length that the representative went to in handling the return. Although I am no longer living in a state which has a Scheels store, I feel like the dedication toward customer service is conveyed on line as well. Anyone reading this review would do well to put more credence into this review than some of the petty complaints that likely preceded mine. These people are nothing short of top notch.

I purchased a 'Scheels Outfitters guide Series LT 1000D' fishing reel last year. On my first camping trip with the reel, the handle assembly fell off. I contacted the manufacturer Dawa to get a replacement, but since it's a 'Scheels outfitter' brand- they do not have replacement parts. I contacted Scheels, and an employee told me I'm screwed and that I would need to buy a new reel. I thought spending $140 on a reel meant I would be able to get components, or at least some customer service but I guess I was mistaken.
I can't recommend any Scheels outfitters brand products after this.

Went into the Meridian store to buy my wife some shoes. Grabbed a pair for myself. Went to the women’s shoes and waited roughly 20 minutes before I received help. I pointed the shoes out that I want along with the size. The associate said she would go grab me the shoes. She never returned with the shoes but she did help others. I went and looked at other stores for the same color but couldn’t find that color for her. I ended up returning my shoes and purchased us shoes at a different company.

See a lot of negative reviews on here but just wanted to put a positive one. Ordered a 2x jacket. Arrived in the window listed in new condition. Will definitely order from them again

I purchased an item, but unfortunately, I did not receive it. I contacted the customer service center, but they did not help me. So I lost my money.

received a or stormcraft parka. 100% waterproof... nope. they sold a product that was defective. I call and ask if I can exchange it, they say yes. I drive in a near blizzard (3/5) to exchange it or get store credit for a better functioning coat. After waiting for like 10 minutes they say they can give me 100+ of credit for this 550+ jacket. never be dissatisfied their quote is. ha. Never shopping here, and definitely not giving a gift from here. now I have to go through the or warranty process which will take time and leave me without a jacket. Also they no longer have the black color I like so I am left getting a lower value coat from their selection if able therefore scheels is eating some of the original money. They had many of the same model and size to just switch it out but they didn't. I left SO frustrated. no accountability. wasted my time never going back. be careful with bigger purchases here.

I have been trying to make a $3200 purchase on scheels website. First time buyer should be aware that they will manage to completely drop the ball and blame the terrible service on their processing department. If there was a 0 star I would rate the online retail department as that. I will not buy from here again and would definitely not recommend.

I started a new hobby of collecting trading cards and joined groups that will post new stock alerts on hard to get football packs. In this case it was for 24’ Donruss Football Mega Box… I got an alert they went live with 1,200 boxes. I quickly purchased 3 out of the 20 limit per customer. My order processed with no issues and was accepted and I was even charged for it. Soon after it was out of stock of course as its high demand item. But I got lucky, so I thought. Then roughly an hour later they had another drop of 1,230 boxes of the same item (keep this in mind). Fast forward 2 hours and I receive an email of my order being canceled due to them not being able to fulfill order! But how could this be? I bought 3 of the 1,200 available that first was released. Then they did another drop of roughly same amount of boxes. But here they are saying they couldn’t fulfill my order that had already been placed and processed and they then release more but canceling mine and not everyone else’s?!? I then email them myself asking how this happened and the only explanation was, sorry people in the physical store must’ve bough them so we can’t fulfill the order but don’t worry turn on notifications for the next time… like what?!?! Explanation made zero sense.
This was also my first time ever buying from Scheels and apparently my last as well. Extremely disappointed. Also being new to this hobby I know there’s thousands of people with bots buying these cards and maxing out the 20 per customer limit and I didn’t see a single person say there order got canceled. Crazy right?

I ordered a $220 pair of shoes and please tell me why they only shipped them in a plastic mailer, not double-boxed. Of course the original box came in damaged. I emailed them about it and they only offered a $10 partial refund and told me that's how they ship out orders. Then in another email I was told that they are not responsible for items damaged during transit. Uhhh, maybe try double-boxing? For an "employee-owned" chain of stores, they got the worst customer service. Never again!

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a baseball bat from Scheel's that was listed as in stock for $79.99. A couple of days later I get a cancellation notice telling me the bat is not in stock. I get back online and the website said the bat was in stock so I ordered again. Two days later, same thing, I get a cancellation notice. I emailed customer service and got a lame response saying they can't attest to what stock is on the floor, as if they are physically pulling stock from the floor for online orders.
Now, a couple of weeks after my order was canceled, I get back online and what do I see? The bat is back in stock, however the price has increased to $199.99. I emailed Scheel's customer service 2 days ago complaining and I never received a response. I would have been happy to wait a couple of weeks to get the bat at the lower price, instead of them canceling my order and jacking the price up by $120. They should have honored the price.

I purchase an E-Gift card from Sheels online for my son who lives in Tulsa, OK for Christmas. When he went to spend it not even a month later it had been stolen. I was told it was spent in Texas, yet a refund will not be issued. The company is the only ones who have access to this type of gift card, so it was a break down on their part. Yet they will not refund my $100.00
Still have not gotten an order (Monday) that was supposed to arrive between last Tuesday and Thursday. My kid needed the item for a sports tournament and didn’t have it.

Ordered a basketball backpack which came soiled.
Only solutions was sending pics, which I explained 3 times I do not have access to doing. No other solution offered, no compassion for my situation.
Scheels was fine with the fact that I had to spot clean the backpack before giving it as a gift. Yes a $92 backpack. Offered a $10 gift card, which I declined as I will not be shopping with them again.
Their website states they put customers first, NOT!

i wish i could rate them a zero
way too expensive
they seem to only hire white employees
they need to have more speed bumps in parking lots
I purchased an $1100 Garmin smart watch in Dec. 2024 as a Christmas present for my spouse. When it was delivered, the shipping box was all in-tact. But when I opened the package, the watch box itself contained NO WATCH, just a band. So obviously this error occurred on the store side. However, after contacting Scheels customer support multiple times, I was told there was nothing they could do except file a dispute with my credit card because I had no proof the box was empty. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHO OPENS EVERY PACKAGE THEY RECEIVE UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SO THEY HAVE PROOF? But lesson learned. Lesson learned, I will henceforth. Effectively they stole $1100 from me. I've read other reviews of individuals receiving empty packages from them. I wouldn't buy anything of value from them online. If you do, video yourself opening the package. I will never shop at Scheel's again.
Buyer beware.. Scheels tacts on a 2.5% Public Improvement Fee at check-out, they don't let customers know, so I took the liberty to place signs on the entrance doors and I will place more at each register.. What a RIP-OFF, they also give a BS excuse that it was imposed the the City of Johnstown and the Property Management company... Nope, those fees are for Scheel and not the customer, Can't wait for Bass Pro Shoppe to open, they will NOT charge BS fees unlike Scheels.. Also have you notice Scheels only response to Good comments, an NOT negative ones... Just look for yourself.. DONT Shop at Scheels, better yet Shittts!
This store has the blind leading the stupid. I just got off the phone with Trevor the manager and he is good but his employees are inexperienced and ignorant of the laws they are trying to play by. Long story short I won’t be buying anything from them again.
Avoid ordering anything from this company. They contract cut rate shipping and will do nothing to assist when the package is lost. Then they tie up your funds, refusing to refund. It could be months or never to resolve your lost order. The people who work their customer service repeatedly disconnect the chat in order to not help. The email customer service is no better. It felt like I was communicating with a prison warden or judge. If you want to speak to customer service, it is over 30 minutes on hold. They are not kind at scheels.com. A bit nicer in the store. I’ll never understand how a company (Scheels) takes a customer’s money, the customer never receives what they paid for and the company refuses to help!
