Fast informative service
Online website is superb
Online website is superb! Ordering was user-friendly. Tracking updates appreciated. The company has all the products I use on a regular basis! The wheel bats I ordered are hard to find. Keep those in stock!

Unique glazes and quick shipping
I am so happy with my SPS glazes and how quickly I received them. I look forward to ordering again!
When the customer service team plays defense over a 12 dollar bag of clay.
I brought back some clay that was not a good fit for me as a beginner to intermediate potter. The clay is Eclipse and it was so hard that it was brittle. Instead of offering an exchange or a return, the customer service staff teamed up against me to offer instructions on how to reclaim clay. They claimed that I should use the bucket method to add water and submerse a brand new bag of clay. Rarely have I ever had such a poor customer service experience. When I pulled up directions to get there my GPS system said "do you want to go to Seattle Pottery Supply with 2.5 star rating?". I thought to myself, why would they have such a low rating? Well, now I know. Despite wanting to give business to a local shop, I would rather pay the shipping than go back there.

I LOVE MY KILN!
Disclaimer - this is my first kiln, so I have nothing to compare it to.
- The kiln is very well made without being overly complicated. It is easy to disassemble and reassemble to move. The components seem to be high quality. And it seems to be easy to maintain myself, which is important because I’m in Texas.
- The interior size fits more pottery than I expected. I got the recommended shelf kit - does what it is supposed to do and has just the right amount of pieces to meet my needs. I may opt for 2 additional half shelves in the future.
- The standard specs work with my existing electrical setup, including the outlet, so I didn’t have to have any electrical work done.
- I ordered a custom length power cord. It is a behemoth… very thick and sturdy.
- The Bartlett Genesis Spark touchscreen controller is excellent. It is easy to use, but also seems to be very versatile, allowing unlimited customization of firing programs. My only complaint is the online app. It is quite rudimentary and not particularly helpful. You can get the free limited version, or pay ~$20/year so it will send you a text or push notification if an error code pops up, or when firing is complete. But, hey, it’s still a great product. I can check the temp without having to go to the very hot garage.
- SPS has been great! They answered all my newbie questions, and the videos on their website are quite helpful. This all made me feel confident that I was not getting in over my head. Also, the packing strategy they use for shipping is incredible. I’ve never seen anything so well protected for a cross-country trip. The kiln arrived in pristine condition.
I’ve run several quick bisque firings and two cone 6 glaze firings so far. Everything is working exactly as it should.
Sidenote - someone told me they don’t fire in the summer in Texas because they don’t want the heat to ruin their controller. The first quick cone 04 firing in July did end up with the board getting almost to the heat tolerance limit. After that, I put a fan 16 inches away aimed directly at the controller box. That lowered the max board temperature over 50 degrees. No more worrying.
Fantastic selection and service
Great selection with helpful info on expected behavior of glazes. Arrived very quickly compared with some other vendors. Seattle Pottery Supply is now my go-to shop.
