The only caveat we would mention is that if you take out a joint account with STB you may find that both signatories have to approve any withdrawal, which can be cumbersome and a little irksome if time is a factor.

Competitive rates, easy, fast and straightforward online process to open an account. When I had a query, could telephone and speak to one of their UK helpful staff without waiting ages on hold.

Very unhelpful following the death of my father who had an account with them. They sent me a statement but then when I rang up to discuss the statement they refused to speak to me as they had no way to take me through security. When the solicitor spoke to them they provided incorrect information. When my father was alive he found their security processes the most complex of any bank & long waits on the phone to get help. Will not be using this bank myself & would discourage anyone else from using them.

Crazy amount of security. If you get locked out, good luck getting back in a week.
Forgot my pin number. Went through security check, they said my memorable word check was incorrect but that is what used before, others have reported this also. Because my phone number needed updating, l have to wait a week for a new pin. To reset my memorable word, they sent me code, then transferred me to another dept. But they said l have wait a week then call back. This is nonsense, l closed my account. I was on the phone 30 minutes and then still need to call them back again. No 0800 numbers either. Anyway better rates elsewhere.
